    It is a good video. I honestly was struggling with the VR itself to the verge of moving non VR because I tried to do all the iRacing stuff within the VR environment and it was overwhelming (mouse to VR controls, back to mouse, back to controls, feeling dizzy...). I like this approach of leaving the VR part to the very last moment, like putting on the helmet. Thanks!

      @@bigboytoysTTR Fun using VR on and off, way more fun with these easy button presses to recenter. Still prefer monitor & I'm much more competitive using the screen too. But may just be me needing to adjust. Either way, thanks for all the content, keep it up dude.

    Brother man, it doesn’t make sense why you put so much effort into this tutorial, and then didn’t bother to screen record, instead you just film your actual screen. No one can see what you are doing here. I can tell you care and I just want to see you do better, try using a screen recording software for tutorials!

      Dude I appreciate where you're coming from, it drives me nuts watching this back. I can't remember for the life of me why I didn't have OBS running but I think it was because I just bought a new pc and hadn't installed it yet. Def shoulda waited a few days cause I'm like you and annoyed when I watch it back, but I do think you can get the gyst of what I'm saying and where to look enough to be able to fix anyone's problems. People seem to be pleased with the outcome so I guess that's what matters but yea man from the bottom of my heart, this one's on me. Thanks for sticking with it!

    Ok, here are some useful tips for you to get these things you're talking about right:
    the first thing you should do is tick the "use custom controls for this car" box in the options. you don't want to use the same settings for every car because each car is different in its own way.
    You are absolutely right about the "Re-centre HMD" button. This button is very important for VR. However, all the other buttons are pretty useless and don't need to be mapped at all.
    You can adjust the height of the driver either by pressing alt+f12 in the cockpit view in replay or by opening the "In Car View" black box in the car.
    As it is assumed that you practice with the car and set the correct height of the driver before getting into a race session, so there is no need to do this "very quickly" as you mentioned. that is what the "re-centre HMD" button is for once you have set everything up.
    And the last point, and I can't emphasise this enough: Do NOT switch on the driving line, the pit exit line or the automatic pit speed limiter. You're not allowed to use these aids in any official session after your rookie licence, so it's best to get into the right habits, such as using the assigned pit button, so it becomes second nature to you.
    You can certainly activate these aids for the first few laps with a new car or a new track, but you should deactivate them again as soon as possible so that you don't get used to them and rely on them when you no longer have them.
    Also, zooming in on an already blurry screen and explaining where to click isn't exactly helpful for people who aren't familiar with the menus.
    but your audio quality was very good, so keep that up
    I don't normally write comments, but I couldn't resist after watching the video. I hope these tips and feedback have helped in some way :)

    • @bigboytoysTTR
      @bigboytoysTTR  6 місяців тому

      I think there's a setting somewhere that disables the pop up if you have a default option selected. That'd be my best guess, somewhere it must be checked off that you want it to launch by monitor every time, I just don't know where that is. Can anyone else help out?

    It seems like you’re adding a bit of complexity to the centering feature. Essentially, you can activate it whenever you wish to inform the VR system that your current head position (at the time of pressing the button) should be considered the standard normal position. If you move around in your seat and get into a different position that you find more comfortable, then press the button again to update VR. That’s the crux of it. It’s not as intricate as it might appear. 😊

    Watching your on track video I see some blurriness/shimmering when looking 30+ feet down the track. I ended up returning two Q3 headsets because after trying all the recommended tweaks/settings/configs/etc along with working with Meta Support I could never get rid of the blurriness.

    • @bigboytoysTTR
      @bigboytoysTTR  8 місяців тому +1

      Ah dude what a bummer! I'm curious, when you say you noticed it in my on track video, do you mean the clips in this video or a different one of mine altogether? I wanna get to the bottom of this with you that sucks!

    • @jonmess9650
      @jonmess9650 8 місяців тому +1

      What I was referring to is some pixelation in your video clip further down the track. I subsequently saw another Q3 review that mentioned the pixelation as a design issue. The focal sweet spot that the Q3 tries to maintain impacts the clarity of things in the distance. For me, my focus is always looking further down the track. So the pixelation in the distance is a problem. The Q3 image quality within the sweet spot is excellent.

      Ah that makes total sense. I can basically race comfortably for about 20-30 min then I feel like I need to take it off.
