Day 2 of food and attractions in Langkawi, here’s what we did:
We started the day at The Andaman Hotel, and ate the buffet breakfast in the morning. The food was quite good and the buffet was very extensive. There’s nothing I enjoy doing more than eating fish curry for breakfast.
After breakfast we drove to the SkyCab, which is one of Langkawi’s most famous attractions, a cable car that goes up the side of the second highest peak in Langkawi. We took a ride on the glass bottom gondola car, and the ride took about 10 or 15 minutes to reach the top. I especially liked the glass bottom to get views of what was below us as well. At the top of the Langkawi SkyCab there is another attraction called the SkyBridge, bridge that spans from one peak to the next. It was pretty cool to walk along the bridge and enjoy the view. Also, located in the same complex, we went to Art In Paradise, which was a painting museum the are made for taking photos. So you stand in front of the painting and take photos - it was quite well done.
For lunch we went to Malaysia 1 Restoran and went to a restaurant called Mr. Asam Pedas, who specializes in a Malaysian food called asam pedas, a spicy and sour curry. I had the asam pedas with fish, which was incredibly good - the flavors of the curry were extremely good, and I loved all the herbs and spices included.
One of the main reasons my wife and I were invited to Langkawi was to attend the Langkawi Laksa Carnival, a festival celebrating the dish of laksa, which is a number of different types of noodles and curry. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, but today was the opening ceremony and so we first walked around and ate some amazing noodles - some Chinese hand pulled noodles, and a laksa from the Malaysian state of Kelantan, both of which were extremely good. I was then asked to be part of a simple cooking competition, and though I had no idea what I was doing, it was a lot of fun.
After the Laksa Carnival opening, we then went to Ayer Hangat Night Market, which is a local food market on Friday night. Everything looked delicious, but I had to go with a dish called nasi kerabu, rice with toasted coconut and herbs, and then I chose some fish and fish cakes to go on top. We also had beef curry with sticky rice which was also delicious. The food at Ayer Hangat Night Market was fantastic!
Thank you to Naturally Langkawi (naturallylangka...) and Tourism Malaysia for sponsoring our trip to Langkawi, and for Kash Island Adventures (new.kashislanda...) for touring us.
Thank you for watching this video!

Hi Mark Wiens! I must say that so far, your Langkawi trip has been hilarious. I was smiling and laughing watching the video. You looked completely clueless as what was going on and what you had to do during the competition. And I love how you randomly included a clip of a kitten walking around. LOL! How adorable!

Nice to see your videos are much longer now. You're really capturing every bit of your travel & your food, its like taking us with you. Love it!!!
One of those videos that show that mark is talented at cooking too!!!!!
I am always astonished by the complexities of asian meals; so many ingredients are used and people are really passionate about what they're doing... the guy preparing noodles was extremeley skilled and i'm sure they totally tasted extremely fresh and soft. Coming from Switzerland I hear every day how italian food is the best in the world... but probably because those people have never tasted asian food, which according to me is by far the best and much healthier than what we have in Europe/USA. greetings, and congratulations to your new experience, you were extremely funny when cooking =D
AloysiusPendergast89 Really appreciate it. Even after living and traveling in SE Asia for years now, I'm still amazed at the ingredient combinations and foods as well. Thank you!
I enjoy your Vlogs ! Keep them coming. You guys did a great job!
takes three bites, tilts his head and closes his eyes and smiles....or opens them real wide then closes them and smiles....

Keep up the good work mate
Thanks for sharing, have a great time in Malaysia great videos love all the tours so far
The last dish that you eat is called Lemang. It's a mixture of pulut (sticky rice) and coconut milk with some salt. The coconut milk is what makes the gooey texture. Best to eat with curry and rendang. And great video as always.
It's vr nice to see a foreign tourist njoy many Malay cuisines, like nasi campur, nasi kerabu, nasi dagang. D nasi kerabu is very colorful.

Awesome views......Great video Mark.....
Asam pedas are one of many dishes that's a person should taste before leaving Malaysia. But personally, I think I've tasted the best asam pedas in Malacca, Malaysia. You should give it a try if you ever come back to Malaysia Mark. Lovely stuff as always. Keep it up mate!

Also like that is seems like such a wonderful time you are having!!! Enjoy the rest of your stay!!!
+OldSchool Now249 i think you could find the other artworks by using 'langkawi 3d art museum' keyword in google images. The artworks will create a 3D optical illusion when you took photo in perfect angle. :)
