@@bentrieschmann I’m potentially going this route too, Kasane has a play style stronger suiting to my preferences but Yuito’s team and their utility (especially Luka’s teleportation offering flash steps and Tsumugi’s clairvoyance offering better perfect dodge and counter options) seems like a worthwhile trade off to a method of combat I wasn’t meshing with as well as I did for Kasane. Also something to add on the combo strings: if you unlocked the air dodge ability, you could further extend the LLH attack by cancel the last heavy attack with dodge and then continue comboing
Playing Yuito first cuz he seems like the less technical one of the two. Gonna finish his campaign and then play Kasane's when I'm a little more seasoned
I'll start with Yuito, the teleportation skill can be used in the air and get some extra reach on jumping to things. Have a feeling it might be a bit broken in places.
I've stopped playing many games on release. Going through my backlog and your Scarlet Nexus videos have been helpful... like the tip about blinking to obtain items through impassable terrain or concurrent SAS to dupe + electro enemies. Any videos above 1080 resolution are a plus as well.
I started with Yuito, played to phase 5, then did the same with Kasane. After that I alternated between the two changing between each phase. On Phase 10 with Yuito now. Will finish ksane afterwards. I think alternating between the two is the best way to play.

In any case, I'm sold, close range and good defense is my (awkward) middle name. Thx for the info BG.
Yuitos gonna be my first pic. Seems like it was intended to be that way as it’s surely much easier to get a grasp of Yuito’s skill set early in the game.
I picked Yuito since well I'm a guy. Then loved Kasane the moment she was introduced only to kind of hate her later for you know REASONS. Then loved her again later because you know REASONS. This game really pushes you to play both characters doubling the experience and hell I'm not complaining. My only issue was the camera work on PC and it takes a lot of time getting used to. Edit: After learning to combo Yuito hell I feel like Vergil and got too motivated lol...
playing Yuito in my eyes is where I find the most fun in the game since with Kasane your playing a lot more in the back and away from the action, were as with Yuito, you can get a lot more close and personal with the enemys
The main difference is that yuito is a Close quarter combat swordsman who excels in fast pace and ground attacks so he has the charge level 2 attack while kasane is more of an aerial type attacker. Her combos are complex but w/ a little training, i think it wont be a nuisance. Main disadvantage is that yuito is melee so you gotta always maintain a short distance from the enemy whenever doing rush attacks and PK follow ups. Kasane on the other hand has less dps since her aerial attack combos are focused more on basic attavks rather than charged attacks which lessens her opportunity to regen her PK gauge
I thought for sure I was gonna play as yuito but after trying the demo, kasanes whirlwind lightning buffs on her knives won me over. Definitely going to try both simultaneously if possible. If not, than kasane first. I was also surprised by the creative quick time events. Hope they keep it up through out the game because the demo was really good.
Loved Code Vein, so can't wait to see what they do with a full on RPG (opposed to Soulsian). In the demo I preferred Kasane's base melee, so I'm leaning that way; but I also sort of liked Yuito's buffs a bit more, so it's really a toss up. Might literally flip a coin.
What do you mean by "full on rpg"? In I think a real rpg allows you to be your own character rather than some other character, playing someone else only lets you think like them and use play styles only that one character uses. That one factor changes a level of an RPG, a true rpg doesn't just allow you to be you're own character, but also allows you to choose how your character goes about the world(whether if he or she becomes a hero or a villain and even involves redemption arcs depending what path you chose). This is still an RPG, bit its a set character and, from what I can tell, a set path rpg. It looks like it leaves little room for imagination runs more like a book in the sense that most games play, still an RPG, just more kin to most other action style games. Most other RPGs that are labeled under an RPG still have a set path, but slows you to be you to an extent. The rpg I want to see is full on, you are the protagonist of your own and the story and NPCs can completely and maybe even slightly alter due to your actions. Sorry I'm a big nerd into RP stuff, so I'm really passionate in things of this sort. Like I said, still an RPG. I'll still play it, bit I feel like I'll treat it as if I'm playing like red dead or even Assassin's Creed.
Glad you’re doing this on PlayStation, hate the button mapping on the Xbox controller, along with the fact of how heavily marketed this game is with them

@@cjsjdcjsjdxahxjs2165 lol I don’t like the button mapping because in my brain A is usually to confirm and B is to cancel, but it’s swapped on the X box controller, along with a bunch of other things. I’m so hype for this. I was torn on whether to get it for pc or PS5 think I’m gonna go with the PlayStation version since it’s gonna take advantage of adaptive triggers
You’ll eventually play both anyway, choosing yuito seems like a good first choice because Kasane will do some actions which you’ll understand if you play her story, in short it seems that Yuito’s story is supposed to be played first, and kasane’s story afterward… but if you wanna play kasane’s story first that’s fine too just remember you wont get surprised anymore if you play Yuito’s story…. I made that mistake.
Great video, Alex. These synergies you shared will be really useful when I get around to playing the game (just recently started P5 Strikers, so I won't be starting this anytime soon). Since you mentioned you get the most out of playing each character, do you know how long a playthrough might take? Are we talking like 25 hours for each character, or is it 50 hours for each? Oh, and I'll likely start with Kasane, as that's more like my style in action RPGs.
im playing kasane because she has range, aoe, and gets air dash way early... she is probably less damaging but fighting with aoe in a game with mostly number fights sounds better then 1 on 1 combate all the time
After a certain point in the story, you will have the full 9 extra Party Members. You only need to choose to set out 1 ability and have access to 8 at all times during combat.
I'm a bit late to the party but I'll probably start as Kasane since I feel like she has more unique combat options while Yuito is just like any melee fighter in an Rpg
I tried playing both tutorials to the interlude, ended up choosing Kasane. Sure, she's harder, but I kind of want to see where the story takes her. I already got my fix of traumatized teenage love tetrahedron angst from Rean Schwarzer.
I think my demo had a flaw I could not teleport through that fence, wonder if anybody else had that prob. Wasn't there also a super or something you could do by pressing all four specials at once? I thought it kept prompting me to do that but it never seemed to work. The gameplay was very fast paced, maybe I was misreading the prompt & it was just showing that I could use any of those options not all at once. Anyway; you should really be getting paid to put tutorials in games, great breakdown again.
I'm definitely going with Kasane first because I'm partial to ranged/mage fighting styles (and she's a female protagonist, obviously), but I like what I saw with Yuito, too. Overall, gonna try both at some point for sure :)
wait you can If you mean the dash you can cancel it with attack and you can repeat attack -dash-attack-dash so you kinda spam the first string of the combo if you mean canceling the perfect dodge attack by another dodge so you do not do the perfect dodge attack you can cancel it
Playing as Yuito first and his CQC is kinda hit or miss- literally. I’m having a hard time starting combos on new enemies with this guy especially from stealth. His short attack range sometimes means that he attacks right through the enemy model without connecting. It can be especially frustrating to defeat one enemy and waste four attacks trying to connect on the next. Prolly need to initiate with kinesis or area attack to ensure a hit, it’s just annoying. I do love the hyper aggressive fighting tho. Gemma’s skill is invaluable, much better than the dodge especially when timed to enemy attacks.
