Fun facts, Team NZ had different foils on each side during preliminary regatta. Team NZ was using older sails during preliminary regatta.

sadly, not "fun" for me as it doesn't bode well for close racing.

Excellent round up of the current standings....looking forward to the sailing very much..but are hoping breakdowns don't play a big part.

I wonder how many months ago Jimmy came up with the talking point that these sailors are badasses for being pushing high tech F1 level boats to their limits hahahah
Thanks for doing the press conference interpretation (-8

Great report. I can recommend investing in a gimbled camara holder!

Or just stop the walk and talks and put the camera on a tripod...
I see this a lot, youtubers who've watched too much TV and think they should do what the "big boys" do but forgetting that keeping it simple often yields better results. Granted, some creators have better visuals than TV now, even with tiny crews, but not this channel, yet.
Also, don't forget that the walk and talks should ideally be visually motivated and here they are not. He's walking outside a boring conference building, not revealing anything new visually during the shot.
Just trust what you have to say is enough and shoot it on a tripod.
That said, if you have a good enough cameraman and presenter, then yes, adding a walk does add a visual dynamic that can be nice. But it's certainly not needed.
Visually, this channel is simple, but sometimes with some darlings that could be killed. E.g. Matt pretty much always wants to stand in front of a shoreline. "This is about boats, so we need to see water" seems to be the motivation (and likely his hotel room isn't grand). No, we don't, we aren't that simple and we don't need visual proof that you are actually there, we know that already.
Early on, doing so was very often detrimental to audio and sometimes to visuals, too. Like, there would be a ton of wind noise or traffic in the background. Or he would do it at a time of day where the light was just terrible. It's better now that he has better kit. But there's nothing wrong with seeking out a piece of shade so you can actually look into the camera without squinting.
Also, there's nothing wrong with shooting tighter shots with less depth of field. I don't need a tower on the other side of the harbor, hundreds of meters behind Matt to be almost as much in focus as him. You don't need to shoot everything wide open, that's gimmicky, but please knock that background just a tad more out of focus. Whether you realize or not, it's competing for your visual attention. Same with the wide shots when they aren't needed.
Anyways, he is doing his best and I wouldn't be surprised to learn he is still shoestringing this.

Waiting for you thoughts of the NZ boat and the failed crane that dropped the boat about 6+ meters?

Watched the full press conference abs I don’t think I’ve ever see Ainslie look so downcast or lacking in confidence
