Alpha-9 was the only squad that survived this drop. 4:36 Non of the pods went into the slip space rupture, and from the looks of the squads positioning they would’ve been the first to drop. Now although ODSTs are more lethal than an ordinary marine they are still susceptible to death it’s not as if they’re invincible, in the trailer recon we see the other pods also land meaning alpha nine was not the only squad to survive. And given the pods were all scattered over a (metropolis) like New Mombasa the shear scale of the city is so vast it’s possible we just didn’t run into the other squads given they were most likely given other tasks as well. Also when we see buck land when it comes to his mission we see other pods as well. Also brute packs were now taking over the city, the Great schism has just begun and the brutes are in charge now. Given their savage nature and brutish instincts, it’s possible when night came packs formed and began combing the disarrayed streets for meals. That also could be another reason why we don’t see other ODSTs or their corpses when roaming around. And judging from the trajectory it looks like the blast diverted the ODSTs to the left where the metropolitan area dwelled below and not the right where the ocean was.
Arif Lukman would've been far better then fucking team Osiris, the team of nobodies except the guy from a movie and half of the buck we know and love (seriously it's like 343 kinda knew who buck was but never fully played ODST his character is off in 5)
3:50- The swelling music as you drop from orbit... It's just... perfection! So beautiful! I get goosebumps every time! If nothing else, the soundtrack is incredible! Definitely an underrated gem of a game!
While the drop scene was awesome, nothing beats the Return to Sender cutscene of Halo 2 where Master Chief jumps out from the ODP station with the Covenant bomb and watching the UNSC Feeling Lucky (Marathon-Class Cruiser) being destroyed and then Chief destroying the Day of Jubilation (CAS-Class Assault Carrier). The Halo 2 Anniversary version of the cutscene makes it more awesome.
I never realized until today that the thousand ton space elevator flexes and bends when the slipspace rupture happens. Which just goes to show the pure terror of a slipspace rupture in atmosphere.
I think I can safely say the opening text crawl for this game is probably my favorite bit in Halo. The matter-of-fact text that blatantly says “We are losing,” is very cold and militaristic, almost casual. But you can feel the desperation in the words among the rain and the soundtrack, it feels like a soldier on the brink of breaking down. There’s so many layers just to the text crawl and that specific part makes me tear up a lot
Exactly. This is after 27 years of constant war. We've gone from thousands of colony worlds scattered across the galaxy to fighting for Earth itself. This is the most desperate hour of humanity, the Covenant just landed on Earth and this is our last, best, desperate attempt at fighting them off.
@@LD-xt1vo This. You learn to sleep anywhere in the military, never knowing when you'll get the chance to next (rather ironic in the Rookie's case as he was out for six hours in his pod before he woke up).

I never noticed it before because ODST was the first halo game I ever played, but since recently playing Halo 2 on MCC it's soo cool to come back to this cutscene and see the ship.
Just noticed the little detail that the slipspace rupture ate a hole in the ground where it opened. You see the buildings flying through space in the Delta Halo cutscene but never see the slipspace rupture damage in Halo 2.
Yup, supposedly it revealed part of the Ark Portal mechanism which prompted the Covenant to continue digging there to excavate the rest, resulting in that *massive* pit we see in Halo 3.
I remember being a kid with my brand new Xbox 360 Elite and seeing this game come with the package. ODST and Halo 3 Mythic consumed so much of my day lol
Still my favorite intro to any of the halo games. With that being said in amber clad was so tiny compared to that ship. Its a wonder how the humans even won that war.

Always got that eerie, scared of the unknown feeling from ODST, same one i get from Brothers In Arms and Medal Of Honor Airborne. Dropping directly on the heads of you enemy/behind their lines, is terrifying... to say the least when you know not everyone is going to make it to the ground alive.
Really loved how you can see In Amber Clad flying close to the carrier as it's jumping. Bungie went above and beyond when it came to attention to detail!
can you imagine making a paintball arena shaped like the fallen city from ODST and the way to go into the arena you're set into simulated pods and they move like those simulator games where you drop all the way down and feel the whole process and you leave your pod to play in the arena. i think it be lit
through sheer coincidence i played halo in "chronological" order, played wars as a kid and then reach shortly after. That really set a tone in my eyes for what halo would be like, and while I absolutely loved being an unstoppable one man army in the main games odst's atmosphere of despair and fear really hit back on what i guess would be my form of halo nostalgia
Master Chief in the Amber Clad between the carrier and the tower. Chief kicked their butts even before they were ready XD, Though it’s a nice touch saying that ODST is in the same time as Halo 2

It's so unfortunate for Rookie to die. He was a great character and would've been a good replacement for Master Chief if the time would ever come.
Never spoke a word yet has more character than anyone in halo 5
@@Mikey-ym6ok That's what happens when you hire amateur writers.
They could retcon it
If he was augmented he would've become the best Spartan IV out there hands down
Still think Jerome is best fit to replace chief
I love this so much.
*screen blacks out*
*music stops*
*silence for a few seconds*
"Ouch"
I absolutely adore the use of the “Match begins in 3 2 1” beeps for the pod launching sequence
4:36
Non of the pods went into the slip space rupture, and from the looks of the squads positioning they would’ve been the first to drop.
A few went through though
As of 2554, The Rookie is dead, Dutch has retired, and Mickey is a traitor
Source?
Nvm, found it, reading up on it now :(
I really really wished they didn't just kill off the Rookie like that. Fuck Insurrectionists. It would've been cool to play him as a Spartan-IV.
Cog Gear I swear you guys do this just to spoil people. I swear you do.
Arif Lukman would've been far better then fucking team Osiris, the team of nobodies except the guy from a movie and half of the buck we know and love (seriously it's like 343 kinda knew who buck was but never fully played ODST his character is off in 5)
EDIT: Remember the days of Linkin Park montages to Halo? ua-cam.com/video/PW_u7J1uixM/v-deo.html
Imagine this intro for a Halo Battle Royale.
Nah more like an intro for some type of ground operations game mode like invasion
Project Biohazard oh yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaa
Master Wort you shut your mouth! Dont even dare mention that shit game here ever!
iXi Club and you will be able to steer the drop pod like in fortnite
Man that'd be awesome! The whole drop sequence in ODST was memorable, but now imagine it for a Battle Royale mode?! Sick.
You can see the In amber clad going through the portal of you look very closely
The thing i like about this game was its dark atmosphere in the city were its quiet and the rain makes an amazing feature for the atmosphere
3:50- The swelling music as you drop from orbit... It's just... perfection! So beautiful! I get goosebumps every time!
If nothing else, the soundtrack is incredible! Definitely an underrated gem of a game!
Marty said himself he loved the soundtrack to ODST the most
my all time favorite cutscene in the game
Dexter Grif cutscene is one word, it looks like you're saying it was scrapped
That moment when you jump out of the drop pod, then feel frail, alone, and scared in a Halo game for the first time.
I know they're elite soldiers but imagine taking a nap and the minute you wake up you're dropped out of space
Hard for me to do! Showing that the Rookie can pull it off is a subtle telltale that he is at least a veteran.
@@LD-xt1vo This. You learn to sleep anywhere in the military, never knowing when you'll get the chance to next (rather ironic in the Rookie's case as he was out for six hours in his pod before he woke up).
I'm now remembering that I should be playing the Master Chief Collection.
Each game still holds up imo. Did you get ODST for free btw? Feels good playing that in 1080/60.
Anyone else get goosebumps when Buck said 'Troopers we are green and very, very mean'
I guess Rookie is supposed to be you under the helmet ? Kinda like halo reach.
Rocket - Exactly, you make up their personalities.
Rocket same with Master Chief, Halo has never shown the protagonists face to make it easier to believe its you as the super soldier
The Mad Hammer well not exactly, John always had his own personality and history
That’s right noble 6 is alive and incognito.
@@enhanceddeath nope he dead. He was on a planet with no way off that got turned to glass
“What the hell am I supposed to do with this”
Idk but you’ll be glad you had it
am I the only one who saw In Amber Clad jump with the Carrier?
No, you are not.
What exact time and where can you see it? I'm having a hard time trying to find it :/
Sir_Tactical_Slime It's tiny compared to the carrier. It flies in from the right at 4:31, passes in front of the space elevator, slides up to the right side of the carrier and jumps with it at 4:36.
Thank you very much :P
ernest guerrero saw it, it was very hard to find it at first since it's small
I love how you can see the In Amber Clad rushing towards the slipspace rupture just before the jump. It's soo tiny that they could have just left it out, but they put it in.
Now I see where Arrowhead got their inspiration for the Hellpods from!
This game is so gorgeous. I love ODST.
Kids will never know how fun this game was
I remember being a kid with my brand new Xbox 360 Elite and seeing this game come with the package. ODST and Halo 3 Mythic consumed so much of my day lol
That intro😭 brings me back to the good times
“Guys only want one thing and it’s fucking disgusting”
The thing:
5:00 turn up the volume and you can hear an "OW!"
What did he mean by this?
I think it's really cool how their plan was to literally land on the ship and fight to death.
Helldivers, this is your democracy officer. Time to spread democracy
The Drop has the Respawn sound from the multiplayer.
ODSTs don't die. They just respawn on Bloodgulch.
still to this day. This intro cut scene gives me the goosebumps
This is a timeless gem, it’s truly a work of art
Still my favorite intro to any of the halo games. With that being said in amber clad was so tiny compared to that ship. Its a wonder how the humans even won that war.
We kinda didnt, the covenant literally broke itself in half, and the smart fighty half helped us while the other was too busy being megalomaniac to notice the break.
Plot armor
So many years later this game and unforgettably the soundtrack just still hits me so emotionally. It's really a work of art.
Damn, the nostalgia I'm getting from this..
Happy 15th anniversary my fellow troopers
Can't believe Rookie is dead.
RIP
yep, a bullet to the back of the bed
Nice name! FUNKNOWN here :]
Darknal 627 Buck took it pretty hard when the Rookie died. He almost resorted to drinking away his sorrow, feeling like he failed.
The Unknown you mean head
It’s cool to think that master chief was literally fighting a scarab while they were talking
Damn, I always forget how much I liked ODST. Felt so similar to the other games but so different at the same time.
I was in 10th grade when this came out, there was so much hype for it at school the day it came out it was crazy.
One of the most epic, immersive intros in video games.
4:34 you can see In Amber Clad beside the carrier
"Troopers we are green and very very mean"
Ethan Connor means he was playing on easy lmfao
@@youraverageuser7039 does difficulty. Matter?
@@youraverageuser7039 it's impossible to play above easy. At least for me it ruins the fun.
paul jr it does in halo 1 and ODST difficulty changes the diologe for intros
Michael Smith yes feeling badass on easy is fun but i like to challenge myself so i just try to beat all of the halos in legendary i just need halo 4 and 5
I can't help but play this over and over again, is was just so much more atmospheric then the other Halo games in the series. I've been a fan for about 13 years, and I play this one more the others.
"Helljumper, Helljumper where you been? Feet first into hell and back again, when i die please bury me deep, place an MA5 down by my feet, don't cry for me don't shed no tear, just pack my box with the P.T gear, because one early morning around Zero' five, there'll be a rumble in the ground there'll be lightening in the sky, don't you worry don't come un-done, its just my ghost on a P.T run!"
Played this game so many years ago and even now it still gives me chills
"Get set! for a combat drop" .....chills.
One of the coolest scenes in gaming history to me.
Beautiful game and very sad when you find out what happens to rookie :,(
4:32 if you look closely you can see the In Amber Clad pulling up against the carrier to jump along with it
Edit:had the wrong ship name
Still really sucks knowing that Alpha-Nine was the only squad that survives out of all the ODSTs.
that's halo for ya:/
Ohhh!!! I love this intro cutscene so fucking much!!! It gets me so excited, and I love the music too! This first cutscene is such a masterpiece. It's the best halo intro cutscene out of the entire franchise. I love it.
Helldivers to Hellpods❗️🗣️
This is quite possibly my favourite Halo game. Such good fun. Such a nice atmosphere.
you deserve all those likes and at least no covanent have dilomed the video
They blew up our raggedy ass fleet oohrah
Covenant cruiser jumps:
Rookie: OW 5:00
LMAOOOOO
Always got that eerie, scared of the unknown feeling from ODST, same one i get from Brothers In Arms and Medal Of Honor Airborne. Dropping directly on the heads of you enemy/behind their lines, is terrifying... to say the least when you know not everyone is going to make it to the ground alive.
5:00 "Ow!"
Appropriate reaction.
Yea but it would be super fucking expensive to make and it would probably cost a lot of money to play on that field
Just pray in 1000 years buddy
through sheer coincidence i played halo in "chronological" order, played wars as a kid and then reach shortly after. That really set a tone in my eyes for what halo would be like, and while I absolutely loved being an unstoppable one man army in the main games odst's atmosphere of despair and fear really hit back on what i guess would be my form of halo nostalgia
The good old days 😭
Man I love the look of the ODST SMG. The silencer and flashlight make it look like a much more threatening gun!
I freaking love this game in the halo series
Love how you can see Key's frigate jump into the slip space portal with the carrier!
The In Amber Clad is in this cutscene Near the Carrier at 4:28
I love that rookie is sleeping in his drop pod lol.
That's military life for you, nap whenever you can because you never know when you'll be able to get another chance.
"They're pulling back? Why?"
We damn well know why.
Master Chief in the Amber Clad between the carrier and the tower. Chief kicked their butts even before they were ready XD,
Though it’s a nice touch saying that ODST is in the same time as Halo 2
