Literally the same. When I make phone call to someone I don’t know I go through several options of what I’ll say and what they’ll say and what I’ll say in response and if they don’t say something I computed for I will hang up.

i'm an INFP and I kinda developed a way to choose faster, I just look around and see what my friends or my husband ordered and If I like it, I choose it too... or I just make little changes based on that. My ESTP husband sometimes helps me with that, he makes me questions to reduce possibilities and help me know what I'd like, it's like if there are 10 things I'd like, he forms pairs and makes them go into a mini tournament and makes them battle 1 vs 1 till we have a winner 😂 (or at least that's what happens in my mind, in reality he only ask questions and that's all lol).
We also share food in some cases because sometimes I order something and I like more his food instead, and also If I don't like something enough or if my eyes were bigger than my belly, he just eats it for me. ♥ uwu

I just never look at the menu and choose mozzarella sticks with mashed potatoes and if they dont have one of those or somebody mentions a different food I want then I just have a mental breakdown lol
I like that. I'm an infp too. I usually just repeat the last thing the waiter or person ordering before me says. Or close my eyes and order whatever my finger lands on.
I'm an INFP, but I'm a picky enough eater/have strong enough food preferences that I don't tend to have much trouble deciding what I want by the time that everyone else in my party is ready to order.
I can usually narrow it down to two or three things that I would most like to eat. And if I don't feel any more of a strong preference of one of those over the other two, I just pick one and tell myself that I'll try that one that day and I'll come back and try one of the others the next time we go to that restaurant.
Yeaa I repeat the same order as my friend's order anytime we ate at new restaurant, and keep ordering the same menu for like forever (with little change here and that)
I even only ate chicken rice bowl at the place called "Steak house" since my friend previously ordered that 😂

I prefer to get take away... Studying the menu at home, for as long as I want. Also, I now just think about what I want before looking for it at the menu. Saves time. One time they forgot about me and my boyfriend had to ask where my food was... Like, thank you. I love being forgotten about...

INFJ - I have NEVER gone to a restaurant by myself because I'd die from the awkwardness. But I do go on what I call "me dates" to places that don't require human interaction like movies or the zoo 🤣

I would never go to a restaurant alone. I go to places surrounded by food vendors, buy what I want, and eat it at home
I've done it a couple of times and I spend the first 10 minutes congratulating myself on how cool and independent I am and the next half an hour wondering if everyone is looking at the weird person eating alone
@@bostonterrier2976 😂. It does get better as time goes by and your confidence increases. I began to go alone in my early 30s. It helps to remember that we’re all dealing with similar life challenges no matter our personalities.

Ok, for me, an INFP, this is big. I actually worked up the courage to tell the waiter my order was wrong!!! I had been craving the food I ordered and I'm so glad I made sure i got it because it was amazing.

Being an INFP means ordering what you're currently in the mood for and you can't know that ahead of time. Fortunately, I've forced myself to speed up my decision making and, sure it's led to some meal choices I regret but, overall it's less painful than taking forever to decide.
Yes, finally I found a truly relatable comment out of thousands of cliches.
For this very reason I've always been a bit difficult with my parents as well, if I don't feel like eating something specific my whole body just declines.
One thing I told my mom often "my mouth doesn't want it". And I'm not really being childish it's just that if there isn't harmony between the food in front of me and me it's just not gonna work. Planets have to align.

As an INTJ, not knowing exactly all of the options and not already knowing what I want is stressful as hell.
What’s really stressful is when you’ve chosen what you want, but then it turns out it’s unavailable! Might as well just go home.

I went in knowing exactly what style and colour I wanted then got told, I couldn't have that colour as my hair still had dye in it from last time and it wouldn't turn out right. I then became this lost sheep as I tried to figure out another colour

INTP: I generally eat at home, making my own food.
If I have to eat out with a group (family), we generally go to the same places, and I have picked out the cheapest item that I like on the menu, so there's no time spent choosing...
If it's a totally new restaurant, or we haven't even chosen where to go, and someone asks me what I want for dinner... either I'll ask them what THEY want, and find something I'd like on their menu, or we'll stand around for a few hours while I decide where I want to go tonight... because I have to consider what I think they'd like to eat too, and not just myself, and if I can afford it, and if they can (if I know enough about their financial situation) and for variety, I consider where I/we've eaten in the past few days, so that helps eliminate some options... and... need I go on?
Best experience I've had is when a wealthy friend took us out and bought half the stuff on the menu. Wish my BFs were like that, I just got a lot thinner than usual thinking about whether I should just eat lettuce to get it over with faster without going broke.
Yeah, it's easier to let someone else chose the place and just order the cheapest thing on the menu. Though, I travelled once with a group that would spend an hour looking at menus outside restaurants before every meal and it was torture. And they would try and get me to tie break but got pissed that I just wanted the soup or salad, so I don't know why they even asked me. And once you waste so much time and money, the food never lives up to expectations.
I will never travel with a group again.
QR codes are a complete game changer. Anything to not get the waiter asking “How are we doing over here?” every 5-10 min will make an INTP happy

I actually found ISTJ fairly relatable.
But when INFP said they weren’t ready yet I nearly fell out of my seat laughing. “There it is. That’s me!”
No way INFP would ask a waiter to wait.....We'd open the menu and pick out the First thing out of panic
As an INTJ is even more painful having to choose between the options available when they run out of what you already planned on having.
And even worse, when the restaurant that has that dish prepared exactly how you know you like it... closes forever.

Or you end up having to move and that restaurant and/or dish is nowhere to be found over there. We are creatures of habits, so to speak, when it comes to our perceiving functions (i.e., ni and se), it seems.
Happened to me a couple of months ago, my favorite restaurant closed, and I haven't even looked at the menu of the new restaurant that opened in their place yet XD
I always prepare an option B and C for the case that option A is out of stock.
I literally had that idea for taking "Myself out to dinner, as a self-love thing".
Instead I've just made it a habit to order pizza on Fridays and have ice cream for desert.
It's a self love thing, but also a "forever alone" thing.

Most of the time I use visual--I pick what looks appetizing or I imagine how the ingredients taste in my head if I am not familiar with the menu but the horror for me is when I have to go alone & don't see anyone familiar especially when it's in a hotel.

I (ENFP) often look at the dessert menu first and decide what to order. Then, I choose the remaining dishes carefully so that I can eat the dessert without feeling too full. HOWEVER, I always end up ordering too much or eating the dessert first anyway. (So yeah, I do have plans. I just can't follow them. 🤷🤦)
ENFPs have plans, but "the world" keeps getting in our way. If our plans are in gear, there's always a wrench that gets thrown into said gear. This is the true reason why we ENFPs don't make plans.

I am an infj but I also look up the menu at home and already know what I wanna order when I am at the restaurant like the Intj.
Just did that this last Sunday and talked to my ENFJ friend to discuss what we wanna order in advance before going there. We made up our minds and when we got there we knew right on the spot what to order.
What would each type order for dinner?
As an ISTP I would totally order like that it accounts for the least amount of social interaction throughout the whole meal and I probably did put much thought into it so I didn't have to ask for more time to think.

INFP raised by Te doms here. That kind of lolligagging was not acceptable growing up and I still find it grating! If making a decision efficiently means looking up the menu at home like INTJ, I will. 🤣
Yes, lately I'll start looking at the menu on the way to help the decision. Places that have an option to get two half entrees are my saving grace because I get both, even if I end up taking leftovers home.
I learned most restaurants are either cheap and have chicken strips or are expensive and have salmon. I don't even need to look at a menu and I don't have to deal with indecision. - Shy ENFP.
The role upbringing plays in our MBTI types is fascinating. I'm an INTJ from a very large family with ISFP and INTP parents. If I didn't learn to accept lollygagging, I would be in an insane asylum or prison right now. :D
My solution is to superskim the menu and then be ready whenever the group is ready. /ENFJ, but I feel you

As an INFP, let me tell you, eating in public is stressful situation....I imagine that everyone is looking at me even though we INFPs are literally invisible...I till cringe in the middle of the night (as that is what we INFPs do at 3 am if aren't crying) when I remember that time I ordered a steak sandwich that had waay too much sauce, and meat that was tough and cut in big strips....so I had sauce dripping down my fingers, and the steak ended up dangling out of my mouth since the strips were so big and I couldn't bite them in half...it was a living nightmare!

Bold of you to assume that INTJ wouldn't go to the same place he always goes, sit silently in the corner he always sits in and get the same thing he always gets.
I would do this if the food was consistently high quality, but I've rarely experienced consistency in tastes and service except for when I was a student and certain coffee and fast food joints had consistency of good flavors and with comfy chairs available in the same spot. I never do this now though because I don't like having my data collected every second. I just liked being a random anon nobody having a chill time in a low-key franchise pondering my studies while doing a little bit of people watching while they didn't notice.

There's a place by my house I get lunch from 3-5 days per week. The food is good, but most importantly, the service is excellent. I refuse to waste my time "mixing it up" by going somewhere I know is just going to piss me off with their incompetence. These people know my order and seem to give me special treatment seeing how much I spend there. I forgot my wallet one day and they were like "just pay tomorrow when you see us." LOL.

As an INFP when it comes to ordering, usually my family is the one who does it for me because I don't know what to choose and I'll worry about the food being expensive! 😂😂So the first time I ordered things myself was at my friends birthday party in a hotel and I just ordered fish and chips 🤣🤣

Yes, I sometimes have two options so I can switch to something cheaper if the host is ordering something less expensive.
I always ordered spaghetti growing up, just to avoid making a decision. God help me if spaghetti wasn't on the menu!

ISFJ - I immediately felt second-hand guilt/embarrassment for his letting the waiter give all that advice and then not using any of it. I couldn't do that - I'd feel obligated to pick a suggestion.

Hi, I'm an ISFJ and I felt this too. I always ask the waiter which is better and to make the choice for me, then after that I still stick with the regular or sometimes I go with what he says coz I start feeling guilty. It's a 50:50 thing.

As an ISTJ, I'm not a cheapskate especially when it comes to food. My grandma said, "you can't eat money but with money, you can buy food. If you want to eat something, just buy it." Though, I look at my budget first because I need money for something else too. 😂

As an INTJ, I frequent the same restaurants and generally order the same thing, so they know me by my order. At new restaurants, I order the safest thing. If you do well on that, the next time I'll order the next complicated thing on the list until I trust your cooking enough to explore the menu. If you fail, I will never return.
Things I loathe at restaurants:
Small talk, including the telling me about specialty items NOT on the menu.
Switching waiters or having someone different serve me other than whoever took my order
Messing up my order after I make specific changes
Not being able to choose where I sit
Having to "find" my waiter to refill my glass, so that I have to talk to another waiter

hmm what should I order? Should I order the burger? Oh but then I would be harming animals I don’t wanna do that! Oooh nachos sound good but oh so do quesadillas! But there’s also-

Ha ha ha! The whole thing cracked me up! I'm feeling a little multiple personality with this one as I'll use the heck out of a coupon and I am usually asked several times if I am ready to order. Of course it is the fish and chips for me. Alone. (I'll listen to what I want to on the way there and the way back too!) As an ENTJ I confirm that I have done that. They looked annoyed and intimidated when i noticed and gave them a glare. (more like I stared back coz why not. I am always ready for a stare contest.)

Being an INTJ, I laughed out loud at this. Or ok, I huffed. But it made a sound! I always thought of myself as boring for being so prone to chosing the same thing in each place, but now I've realised it's rational. I can't fire up the brain and put in all that time analysing every variable, so it's better to stick to what I like. When I try to be adventurous, I drive my hubby insane by taking so long. He's more of an _S_P. Yeah, I know...
