Sun Jing Barboza was gassed out as fuck. It's easy to say but once your lactic acid is high and your energy levels are low, it's nearly impossible to do the things you want to do
Tony Ferguson is really good at it, when he smells blood (in other words if he sees that you are rocked) he will increase his pressure and really pick his shots smart.
thanks, fightTIPS, you're an excellent source to learn from. I've got my first kickboxing fight coming up and I'm grateful for the content you produce. really helpful and ill be sure to use it
I think this helped me a lot. It's true that nobody knows everything, and that there are no cookie-cutters in Martial Arts, but a Martial Artist's skill is like an infinite puzzle that's always in need of more pieces. So see if what you're watching in a piece you haven't placed yet.
You make some good points, however I disagree with 2 things: 1) You said that even if you are the best BJJ guy don't take him to the ground, but if the other guy is a BJJ guy he will do everything to take it to the ground, to the point he will drop to the ground from a nothing shot, if he thinks he has more control on the ground. 2) If you really are an MMA fighter rather than just a boxer (I know you are not - you are great at muay thai, I have seen some of your other videos) hit him with a hard punch like that, why not use leg kicks or body kicks like a tip or a jumping knee or a tiip. I feel if I went in for a load of punches and he is a wrestler he would love that because it is easier to take me down. You are right about controlling them, just I would say close punches against the cage is the most dangerous finish and you must have rocked them really hard. Your thoughts please?
1) I don't really get what you're saying. This video is on what to do when you rock your opponent. If there's an option to finish with strikes from an advantageous position, take it. In my opinion, if you're a good BJJ guy and you rock your opponent, only go for a submission if it's a 99% sure thing otherwise it's easier to just keep striking from a controlled position. 2) Yup you can certainly do those things too. It's actually easier for a wrestler to take you down when you throw kicks because you're giving them a leg to grab and you're only balanced on one leg. I'm not saying you can't kick, but you better be sure it's well timed and well placed. Just because you're closer throwing hands, it doesn't mean it's easier for someone to take you down. Stay balanced, throw controlled shots, and you're golden.
Shane can you do a video on hooks for boxing? Most people at my gym throw the hook with their thumb pointing the ceiling, but I feel more comfortable with my thumb facing me (90 degrees from how they punch). I think the hook with the thumb facing up has better power. Can you do a short video with your thoughts?
From what i gathered in all my research of this topic in the internet, it depends on the distance. The further you are from your opponent, the more inward you turn your arm.
I've never heard of anyone throwing hooks with the thumb down, that just messes up your shoulder and makes you lose power. Perhaps you are thinking of an overhand?
Jack dempsey has a pretty good book that explains a little bit of that... Its called championship fighting... Ive heard mike tyson loved jack dempsey style and used his book too... It starts saying "a baby can knock out a grown man if it has enough momentum" and follows it with more crazy stories and some racist outdated slang and the best explanations ever in how to punch
FWIW Cowboy Cerrone does the rock em then when they panic takedown OR when they get knocked down, he runs in and locks up a submission. That's a very valid technique. Obviously, he's not just wrestling to try and take the opponent down a la andre soukamthv Sean o malley. But he is indeed going for a jiujitsu submission, when the position is simply gifted to him (I.e. mount from a knockdown)
Michael venom page showed great technique when he fought Cyborg Santos , at one point in the fight Page landed a kick to the liver , and saw that Santos was hurt and instead of getting overzealous for the KO , he spun around and made Santos flinch. Lol i had to add that tactic to my arsenal after watching that

HavokStrifeX Learning new things and develop as a fighter and a person is better than just staying in the same situation. If the guys from Alpha male were really good friends of TJ, they would have been supportive that TJ went out there and learned new stuff to improve his fighting game. Working with Duane Ludwig has taken TJ's fighting game to a whole new level.
HavokStrifeX what about gsp when he used to go to Greg Jackson’s camp for game planning his fights? That’s not disloyal. They gave tj an ultimatum and he went with the guy bringing him to the next level
Vincent van der Veen yes exactly. Why do you think chad Mendes still likes tj but all the rest of the guys hate him, it wasn’t personal and alpha male turned into school girls about it
Shane what do I do when I get chalked and pushed in school because if I kick them on the neck or defend I might get in trouble because I am in school so how do I defend safely
Hey, I'm 16 years old, 5'8" about 120 lb and I'm thinking about starting mma. I have long legs, but I have a short reach as my arms are pretty short. If I'm doing mma how many times a week should I do Muay Thai and how many should I do bjj? Over the summer I'll probably train 5 times a week, but only like 2-3 while school is going on.
DreMuayThai this is not good advice but i remember when a guy in school picked a fight with me and he was taller than me so what I did was god dame stupid I just put my arms and hands in front of me and than just rushed him he was down and I punched him 😂😂😂😂
I'm curious, other than using more "illegal strikes" is there any adjustments you would make for a street fight? (escape is obvious, just run, but for finish if necessary)
Right. But when they're hurt, I'm curious if they would employ any different tactics to finish the fight. Eg there are no time limits, so, maybe they might consider immobilization. There are no gloves, so they might employ different strikes than punches etc.
Hey there! I was thinking of starting a self defense martial art but I am not quite sure which one to take up. I was thinking of kick boxing but is it even good for self defense? Would judo or krav maga be better? Can someone explain the differences between such sports/martial arts along with their benefits? Thanks
Boxing/Kickboxing/Muay Thai/Karate/TKD is more for fighting someone who has a backup. When your opponent is with his friends, going to the ground is the worst mistake. They can easily torture and brutally attack you. BJJ/Judo/Wrestling is more for 1 on 1 combat. If you encounter someone in a private place and it's only the two of you fighting, ground fighting is very useful. Although you can also use your striking to knock him out without going to the ground. Krav Maga/Kali/Weapon Martial Arts is more for weapon defense. There's not much proof whether it works but you never know unless you try.
Nikolas Brizolas Kickboxing is punches and kicks. Muay Thai is kicks, punches, knees and elbows. I don't know about the rules because I just do BJJ and boxing but that's the difference from what I know. I'd suggest Muay Thai it's more technical and you'll learn to use more weapons like your knees and elbows. It's more brutal and dangerous though, elbow strikes to the face is no joke.
Gabe Hernandez dude who cares it was funny if you care about what memes are fresh or not you'll have a wasted memesters life instead of being social and happy

Edson Barboza should've watched this before his fight against Kevin Lee
Sun Jing Barboza was gassed out as fuck. It's easy to say but once your lactic acid is high and your energy levels are low, it's nearly impossible to do the things you want to do
You dumb bitch if you got pounded for 10 mins how well could you fight
pretty well considering he still rocked kevin
Tony Ferguson is really good at it, when he smells blood (in other words if he sees that you are rocked) he will increase his pressure and really pick his shots smart.
Yup he's great at it. And he locks up submissions when they're there.
This really changed my perception for finishing moves! Thanks guys!
Shane kinda look like Oliver queen from arrow
Thanks guys love the emphasis on not being overconfident some people act like they can see the future.

I was taught hooks with the thumb down, so I wonder how that fits in as well

Can you 2 make a sparring video please
For how much I'm not a fan of Dillashaw, his finish in the second Barao fight was one of the best in MMA history.
HavokStrifeX you don’t like his fight style or you just don’t like him personality wise?
Chris Simon He's come a hell of a long way as a fighter, but the stuff with Faber and Ludwig was shady. No loyalty.
HavokStrifeX Learning new things and develop as a fighter and a person is better than just staying in the same situation. where can i buy that gloves?
Shane what do I do when I get chalked and pushed in school because if I kick them on the neck or defend I might get in trouble because I am in school so how do I defend safely
Get one friend who was with you when it happens, and knock on your favourite teachers door
Bullying ain't no joke man!
Take them down then start ground and pounding
Mody Mostafa fuck him up, if you get in trouble its self defence. Don't snitch, that just makes it worse.
TheScott10012 Id agree with you. If things get worse, I'd say fighting would be the next option. Fighting is last priority imo.
Max Langworthy fighting is a option( good option)
Perfect🔥

What the heck is the point of those gloves? lol I never seen those before it's like the manufacturer ran out of material halfway.
Just realized that this guy looks like Werdum, Shane looks like Stipe.
can you make a vid on how to fight taller opponents
DreMuayThai this is not good advice but i remember when a guy in school picked a fight with me and he was taller than me so what I did was god dame stupid I just put my arms and hands in front of me and than just rushed him he was down and I punched him 😂😂😂😂
When they are so called wobbly , is it useful to do some low kicks?
Apollothy Not really. That doesnt finish it

Teeps to the kneecap if they're still standing. Once they've dropped, it's time for stomps and soccer kicks. Nah don't kill the guy lol
Hey there! I was thinking of starting a self defense martial art but I am not quite sure which one to take up. I was thinking of kick boxing but is it even good for self defense? Nikolas Brizolas Kickboxing is punches and kicks. Muay Thai is kicks, punches, knees and elbows. Thanks a lot dude
Whatever you enjoy is the best. Discover it, try out both and see what you like.
this is a common thing in street fight when u fight ur opponent 1v1 then u beat him and ur opponent's friends will come to beat u up lel
Hi
What fight are they talking about?
AceZero [Tartarus] several, they mentioned Stipe Miocic vs Fabricio Werdum, and Connor McGregor vs Nate Diaz
