How to Fight a Wrestler and “JUST STAND UP!”
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- When I invited Vince out to my place, I had originally asked him to teach me some #wrestling for #MMA. That has always been a weak area of mine, as I’ve always focus on striking. And so, I once again humbly took the role as student, and let Vince show me the ropes.
In this video, he explains a concept that he calls “cat butt,” where he teaches the importance of keeping the hips active as soon as your ass hits the mat. A wreslter is trying to control your lower body, so that they can nullify your mobility on the ground, advance positions, and then ground and pound their way to victory. Vince shares what you need to know to scramble and get back to your feet once someone’s taken you down.
Key points in this tutorial:
0:00 Start
1:13 The drill
3:16 Tip 1 - Don’t drop to back
3:40 Tip 2 - Cat-butt
4:00 Tip 3 - Pass head side to side
4:25 Tip 4 - Don’t give up legs
5:08 Shane gives it a try
7:19 My favorite piece of advice in this video💡

Great video, gentlemen! 👍🏼
The value contained within these 8-9 minutes it's incredible brother. Thank you and keep up the good work. Much love from the UK!
Always love Shane's humility and Vince's creativity! 🤜🤛
🙏🙏
The way Vince on the first takedown effortlessly kept back control is amazing
You never want to freeze up this is great advice thank you both
You’re such a straight shooter it’s refreshing. Humble and confident
Your fight tips are so useful especially the striking
Would love to learn every takedown and grapple someday in the future but for right now still working on my boxing and kicks
Get yourself into a local MMA gym, train striking and ground game at the same time
@@Antonio-Del-Piero it's tiring 😩
@@Thorfinn_Vinland then join the girl scouts 👧 🍪
One of the important aspects of grappling is the clinch because a lot of the "safe" tie up positions are ideal throwing positions in wrestling. Greco-Roman wrestling can actually help you to be a hint more dominant in the clinch and for MMA purposes it can teach you to throw a lazy boxer if they tie up. Freestyle can teach you a bit more on takedowns but grappling as a whole is a lot of disciplines

Awesome video thanks Shane! And Vince!
The starting scene is dope... sprayed my coffee laughing lol. Keep up the excellent content mate 👍🏻💪🏻
I landed so hard on my shoulder 😖😂
they are just fighting with the brain. appreciate it👍
What a great video! Thanks guys
Excellent video. Good explanation of practical concepts.
Love it! Thanks, Coache(s)
This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Wish Vince continued fighting still would love to see him go to bellator or something
Vince has so much talent and is a crazy athlete -- undoubtedly, he'd continue having a very successful fight career.
On the flip side, however, I'm happy Vince is saving his brain cells for more creative and altruistic endeavors. He's too damn intelligent to be a career fighter, and he's going to make such a big impact on this world with things outside of competition.
This is such great info thank you so much!!!
I needed this
Awesome content as always gentlemen 💪 always done Muay Thai and Ju Jistsu but can now add to my this to my arsenal to become more well rounded 🤘
Great lesson.
Awesome content 🔥
more series like this bro! :)
When pitted against Khabib, Islam, Usman, or Colby, you're simply not going to get up easily, it'll pretty much take a herculean and exhausting effort to try to get back up that when you finally manage to somehow recover some footing, you're so tired to keep standing and defending their follow-up takedowns and chain wrestling
Agree. U gotta have good cardio for that
"when fighting a world class wrestler after they take you down it's gonna be really hard to get back up"
You can worry about jt the day you have to fight wrestlers of that calliber
@@gage6242 I was telling him not to worry about it 😭

Great insight guys. “Cat butt” 🐈🐈⬛
I'll be starting to train MMA today. I started for a month with Muay Thai. Time to mix it up.
life saving stuff here
The thinking man's martial art. I like it.
Nice one
I watched some vids, but didn't saw one thing. So can you make "how to defend and fight with the same hand", cause there are people that can't use both hands and I think it will be interesting.
Great Tutorial 💕 Peace 🤍
Wow tnx sir..
The Suga show Sean o malley did it perfectly
Use the whizzer Shane !!! This is a good drill we might have to steal it 😈
6:25 was the best tip of the whole series. all were great points, but the structural advantage as Vince said that pushing his head away from your body gives is key to not getting flattened. Thing is what do i address first as i go down? Do i first post with one hand push the head with the other to free the hips, and then crossface him to the other side and switch my hips? or do i fall back, push his head to the other side, hip escape and wizzer my way to a sprawl? There must be a step by step to this so we know what to do when its full speed:)
Wrestling is all about the hips tbh. Whether you're turning in towards the opponent to hit a switch and get behind or hip out, or whether you're turning away to get back to a base and stand up, the key is that as soon as your ass hits the ground your hips start turning
Plz do more wrestling videos and Jujitsu with striking.
Urgency is everything.
and that ladies and gentleman is called practice and skill, main reason why fighting is only half the battle get back up and keep training!
Cool
Hey so I've been with you for a while but I came across a UA-camr named shreddedjeffchan and I think you two would have good chemistry
Plz make a video together
Like your channel, after binge watching fighting me is a punishment not a reward.
Someone show this to masvidal 😢
Damnit 😵
Little too late now…
Teach this to Stephen Wonderboy Thompson
I use capoeira to combat against a wrestler and it worked!
What do you do if when they grab you they lift you up,you have no way of moving your hips
Firstly try avoid getting that pos by quickly lowering your centre of gravity, legs wider and fight for breaking their grip before they can get you airborne.
If you fucked up, depending on angle, but you can either try stay somewhat upright and keep your balance thanks to the other guy, depending on you and your opponents lenght etc and hopefully manage to land on one leg with a bit of luck och pull guard or something.
Or do it the other way around like Gaethje did vs chandler. He instead embraced falling forward/tilting over chandler and being somewhat upside-down, which made it possible for him to grab his legs and continue to roll forward. Fucking up the chandlers footing/balance and getting tf outta there before he could jump Justin and get a dominant pos on the ground.
I thought the best way to fight a wrestler is to do an elbo drop from the top rope 🤣👍
Awesome tips.
Shane, it totally looked like you were mainly trying not to punch him instead of trying to get up... lol...
I need to train with you
shane fazen looks like kyle mason 👹
Lol I feel the same way about wrestling
Ways to counter boxing with knees and kicks?
Got you!
Cat butts and scoot-n'-shuffle
Thanks cheif
I really wonder if the first tactic will work on an overweight person. Will they be hard to take down using that tactic??
control your hips control your hips
I’m pretty much outnumbered with the bullies it’s almost all of the boys in year 7 against me and what are the odds of me winning?
You don't have to win man, you just gotta stand up for yourself. Even if they beat the crap out of you and you just got in 1 punch on one of the dudes you still:
1, showed that you got balls
2. Fought back, which means it's not a good target to bully cause it might leave a sting sometimes (like take wasps for instance, they arent deadly unless allergic, but people generally fear those little mfers ALOT. Cause it still hurts to get stung even tho it's not that bad really. People are alot more cautious when trying to swat a wasp than a fly.
And if a fight where to happen, try standing in a door post for defence. Then they can max come like 2 at a time, and from one direction only (unless they can come from both directions). With a bit of boxing experience 1 person can easily stand a chance against many that way. Esp since the boxers punches will be alot tighter and alot more efficent and not using much space compared to the average haymaykers people throw.
No chance of it going down like that 😂
i used to wrestle.
Someone send this to Masvidal
Masvidal needed this. Better he didn't back up to the fence tho
I can tell you don’t really understand martial arts if you didn’t masvidal fighting for positions the whole time
Those 2 poles behind the mat give me anxiety
WHat if i am wrestler and i wan to keep my opponents on the ground. :D
Best advice to fight a wrestler - or any grappler kickbox. Keep them at a distance they can’t do anything in. Same applies for fighting a striker, learn to wrestle.
If u are not from Dagestan or Montreal.. you will probably fail at reaching any levels khabib is at training 10 hrs a day w his dad for 25 years .... wrestling a beer (bear) 😆 or GSP level for that matter.. but who cares. REAL fighters prefer to STAND ... I like how fast u are getting back up .. gives me hope .. U are the best for demos btw 💓

He just had his 3rd boxing match over the weekend! He will be coming out to visit once the new FT gym is finished 👍
I feel like if you were trying to get a similar training stimulus on your own, the turkish get up would be perfect. Almost every single position in that movement is being used intensely here.

It's all fun and games until you face some one like khabib.

It’s not that hard. If someone tries to take you down, just push them.
These fighting videos are overrated. The only way to learn it is to do it.
I see it as extra credit. That’s why we share specific drills - so you can train it with a partner at your home gym.
You need some advices before doing it so you don't have to relearn everything
I bench 400 pounds and squat 600 and clean 320, I’ve fought wrestlers and BJJ guys, they might get me down sometimes but I always just literally stand up, than I see red and bodies drop, lifting weights and anger problems triumphs all martial arts
Honestly dude you should try fighting Mike Tyson
