    Monie's video on the hotel incident and the supposed security guard was actually ideal perfect investigative journalism. She stated what the claim was, where the claim originated from, looked at the situation, asked questions, found some answers, but ended when there was no more info to talk about and simply correctly stated that the situation is unresolved and isn't proven one way or the other. She looked into people directly associated, tried to reach out to them, and did all of it above board with no op-ed injections. I hope she keeps up with that level of work because that's exactly what should be happening and she's very entertaining while breaking down her process.

    I'm happy that you're able to put things behind. Nonetheless, I don't trust WTD. After his apology, he was on the phone with Akademiks telling him that he had to do the apology because of Kendrick's fans (it was on his latest stream). Akademiks never said it was because of the way he talked about you. Then on this same stream, Akademiks alluded that he told him that he wasn't OK with him talking about 37 N-words because of its racial stance. So I think that WTD want to stay in the Hip Hop culture and profit of it and the only way to do it is to apologize. I really think that people show their true colors when angered.

    I grew up as a white kid in a mostly black and hispanic neighborhood. It's really easy to get tricked by the validation you get from not messing up into getting a big head and messing up, if that makes sense. I was trying to have empathy for WTD through this, despite how much of a fool he made of himself. But it reminded me of moments of selfish shortsightedness in my childhood, and watching the stream with Suparig where he just let people say their peace helped clarify things for me. That's probably the thing that ended up helping me back then too- listening enough to realize you will have never listened enough. And you have to just be okay with that.
    Sorry about the long paragraph, the whole situation just made me think about the systems i had to put in place to avoid those mistakes. (And i still make mistakes, just gotta be sorry and humble and keep moving forward)

It was a fake apology, reaching out to AK and other people to jump on his side after Matt said he was quitting, yet still going on another channel to talk about future plans. If people didn't put Matt video back out, Matt would have pretended he never attacked personally attacked and therefore his apology would have been non existence.

    It just occurred to me as I was watching this that WTD’s approach to objectivity is the exact same approach at issue with how MSM outlets cover politics. The bending over backwards to seem objective, presenting a false equivalence, it causes them to appear extremely biased. It presents as them grading on a curve, but only to the people well enough informed to understand the disparity. It allows for the perception that the people pointing out that disparity are just whining bc of their hatred of the people with the opposing argument or them being allowed equal time, when the critics are appealing to the NEWS to present objective reality.
    Drake fans will never not believe the backlash wasn’t motivated by Drake hate or Kendrick fans upset that Drake was getting equal time and praise… instead of valid criticisms of the videos approach and how that approach painted a misleading, if not false, narrative. At least in this situation- the stakes are fairly low and it’s not contributing to the death of our planet.
    Glad you felt supported, you certainly deserved it!!

    Unfortunately, I don't think Dirt is going to change, even more unfortunate, he will be fine, just like Vlad, Adam22, and Akademics.
    He is showing a pattern of behavior that I don't think should be ignored: He does something, receives criticism, lashes out, then apologizes, saying that either his brother, gf, or therapist told him not to do it, but he does it anyways, then he takes a break from socials, and comes back, and seems to not have learned anything, in the case of FM, where he still chose to include that Breakfast Club interview. He seems to know all the right words to say so as to seem that he is taking accountability but won't actually follow through.

    Bias is not coming to a situation, assessing the information, and forming an opinion. It's working backwards from your pre-existing opinions and beliefs. I did not hear Drake's music for the first time with a bias against Drake. He earned my opinion over time. As did Kendrick.

    • @BubbaBasher02
      @BubbaBasher02 3 дні тому +6

      I mean there will inherently always be bias in an opinion. I think what you are trying to say is everything has cultivated to you feeling the way you do which is perfectly valid but you still are biased which means new information is going to be a lot harder for you to approach without that preconceived notion. If you do not like someone, hearing more stuff that make you not like them will drive that bar further and hearing good stuff about them will have less and less of an importance because your bias toward them has already shifted your opinion one way or another. It is hard to be truly objective about new information because the whole concept of forming an opinion takes time and is just inherntly driven by bias. Bias can also do the opposite and make it hard to see the evil in someone too. I agree with you though. When people do things over time it makes your form and opinion on them and at some point that opinion can never be shifted and the good or evil that they commit becomes irrelevant to how you feel about them. I do not think people's bias and opinions are a bad thing. I think perspective is important and it is what is used by every human being to navigate the world. You gotta hear about the ugly to shape your opinion on what is good. Ying and Yang. Old as time

    • @ahmadzuhayri2439
      @ahmadzuhayri2439 3 дні тому +20

      Yeah. From the information available to the public, (interviews, articles) etc... Kendrick's arguments have more weight to them compared to Drake's. Trying to paint them as "equal" ended with something mostly speculative on Drake's end.
      You can't really say that's biased when you compile facts from credible sources and one side ends up being more favored, it's just what is.

    • @Akatsuki250
      @Akatsuki250 2 дні тому +3

      Yes, and from what i seen from Kendrick is that he has self admitted jealousy for the push that Drake gets, yet is also a hypocrite in the sense of saying he don’t care about being famous.
      I seen him lie on the breakfast club about being loyal, and then admit on a album that he cheated.
      I seen him say that he allegedly knew about tons of fucked up secrets in the industry, but didn’t actually speak on it until it benefited him in a rap beef.
      We saw him go radio silent again and only drop a song after he got criticized for his Superbowl Halftime deal, in which he claims “the party needs to once” once again insulting the industry when the industry has put him on a pedestal with grammys and the literal Superbowl lol.
      I love Kendrick music, but what he has shown me is that he is a liar and a hypocrite. Drake isn’t perfect either and he deserved to be called out, but nobody will dare call out Kendrick on his nonsense and that’s sad.

    I personally dont think WTD calling Kendrick a milk man, uncle ruckus and an jealous attention seeker is very objective.
    Felt like his drake coverage was very objective BECAUSE he defended drake despite damning optics. That was praiseworthy. But calling kendrick damm near derogatory black slurs in any capacity was wildy not objective.
    This issue wasnt about kendrick vs drake. And WTD crash out revealed alarming behaviors.
    But i kinda feel like the crash out, is overshadowing how bad a video The family matters breakdown actually was

      @junioraltamontent.7582 2 дні тому +7

      There's only so much you can breakdown by hyper focusing on lyric entendres alone. WTD main issue is he lacked a ton of knowledge/exp about the world and wider hip hop. His approach kind of worked for Kendrick bc of Dot's tendency to hide cryptic meanings in his bars but WTD lacked the familiarity with hip hop to know you can't do that with other rappers, least of all Drake. So he started projecting from his own biases to come up with hidden things that weren't there to begin with.

We can forgive but that person has to stay under evaluation until further notice. We need to determine if he is really for the culture or for profit, especially since he was willing to disrespect one our own. It wouldn’t be wise to let that slide. Love the conversation, and totally agree with the gatekeeping of HH. It is absolutely necessary or there’s a potential it will become completely hijacked or worse whitewashed.

      I discussed this on another channel (Shawn Cee's?) I noticed (and said) two things: "As soon as he was called out, he flounced and threatened to leave UA-cam, even though both he (and the rest of us) knew that he wouldn't" and "He hasn't offered to repair the harm by removing the offending propaganda; nor did he demonstrate any real awareness of WHY he was in the wrong. Going through the motions of apologising (while being covered and surrounded by merch) doesn't signal sincerity."
      You're not only who saw it. The thing is, it's up to Justin to decide what his relationship with WTD will be, and I wish him well with his decision. For myself, I do not trust WTD, and I thought the apology was very performative and fake.

    When we look back at this moment in the future, we'll see it as a pivotal time in hip-hop history. As Justin pointed out, those of us who grew up with hip-hop-Millennials like myself and Gen Xers-are stepping up to defend and protect the culture we love. This conversation shows the power of understanding and respect, even when disagreements arise. Hip-hop, created by Black and Brown communities, is deeply intertwined with our culture and identity, and it's important for outsiders who love hip-hop to grasp these nuances. Justin and Matt's public dialogue and resolution are a testament to how we can hold each other accountable and still come together respectfully. This is an important and amazing moment for hip-hop, showing how differences can be resolved with honesty, growth, and mutual respect.

He was way outta pocket, and I do think he knows that. But I also felt like we (collectively) were waaaayyy harder on him for his brief crashout than we've been (collectively) with the likes of Vlad or Adam22. Adam interviewed Pop Smoke's killer this year man. He didn't even have the interviewing chops to get anything of value from the kid. It was disgraceful. Even Akademics was like bro...
    Adam is still going strong. Vlad has similarly violated throughout his career and it's just whatever it feels like. Dirt violated. Dirt messed up, but he showed a level of contrition that I've never seen from any of the people in that Akademics/Adam22 lane of hip-hop media.
