I’m so used to hearing that *ding ding* silo music sting throughout your podcast that I reckon when you two meet up for a beer in real life it starts playing 🤭
This is probably my favorite show in a long time it even got me to read part of the books which I never do LOL keep doing what you guys do I can't wait for the season finale
My best guess about fake Solo's identity crisis is that Russell was his father, and Russell paid more attention to his shadow than to his son. This made fake Solo jealous, and when real Solo died, he assumed that identity in his mind. He might even have had a hand in real Solo's death.
Good theory. - My guess is slightly different from that: Russell was his father. When the rebellion started, Russell locked his son in the vault. As he did, Russell told him "if anyone asks, you're 'Solo' , if you don't say that, they'll kill you."
I think the two bodies outside the IT vault are solo and his girlfriend. I think fake solo is the one that was trying to break into the vault and wrote the message on the wall.
So instead of getting anybody with a good arm to throw a fire bomb, the Mayor gets a hacker to do it. Great use of skills. Makes sense 😀 And then this Mayor decides to use lucas to put back together a smashed hard drive. In his office. He smashed it with a hammer. Impossible task to do in a lab but Mayors office? 😂 #Unbelievable And how does that dropped winch not destroy something or someone in the down deep?

Great Video! I love your insight and comments! I agree there are amazing moments but overall these episodes don't feel like a 10 episode season, more like a 20-25 episode season. The editing on the episode was awful. this episode would have been better if they paced it and cut to the different storylines differently. this gave me whiplash jumping around- and I'm used to watching GoT or WoT where they change view points alot. this episode could have been better with a few tweaks to really feel it. maybe only switching once to a person/group til it plays out and then swap to the next group. 6.5/10 but it could have been 8/10 I think with better editing
Thanks for your amazing podcast! I was starting to think there wouldn’t be anything for S2E05 since you were a bit late, but it was worth the wait! I really enjoy the Silo TV series, but there are some logic gaps that drive me crazy. For example, the jump with the steel cable from what seems like 60 meters-shouldn't that be fatal? At the end of the episode, we see that Juliette is seriously injured. The wound goes deep into the muscle, and the red edges suggest an infection. Based on this, I think in the next episode, two characters might die from internal injuries, fractures, or brain trauma caused by the jump, and Juliette might succumb to her infected wound. About the external power source: we can’t really know, but maybe the silos are redundantly connected to support each other if one fails. And why does Robert’s wife make such a big move behind his back? What’s her motivation to help the others? What’s your opinion on this? Some other questions that bug me: Why aren’t there hundreds of corpses visible outside the cameras, considering someone is sent out to clean nearly every month? Why do they have such modern cleaning suits with oxygen tanks and webcams that can transmit live footage over 100 meters, but at the same time, they use ancient HDDs as storage media? The people in the silo should be living in about the year 2200, so shouldn’t their technology be more advanced than 21st-century tech? Also, the server room can’t possibly have batteries that last for decades, right? Why is the IT guy, Lukas, working with Bernard, the head of Silo 18? Lukas must know that as soon as he retrieves the data from the hard drive, he’ll probably end up back in the mines. He could just make up information instead. And why didn’t Lukas try to attack Bernard in his office? He had nothing left to lose. Why did the three people outside run away? They had nothing to do with the murder. And why didn’t the two accused of the murder tell everyone that the judge was already dead and her body had started decomposing, proving that she had been killed earlier? So many questions, please, if possible, give me an answer(s) without spoilers if that’s possible :)
There is two lines into the silo, power to IT and power/data lines into Judicial. My bet is that the Judicial line will be the one with capability to talk to silo 1.
I enjoyed this episode cause they're getting back to a fast pacing of events. After Dr. Nichols said no to Bernard I thought he was going to say something like "What if I told you she might be alive". If they send him to clean it's kind of a death sentence since we're not aware if he has some sort of medical shadow. Travelling the Silo in the tv show feels inconsistent and compared to the book feels like a video game instant transport, but I honestly don't mind at all because otherwise each episode would be 1 hour long of them just walking stairs. Bernard doesn't control everything but he shines under pressure. He's smart enough to understand that with Meadows gone he should keep someone like Lukas close to him. He's playing chess and is moving pieces based on 2 or 3 steps ahead. Maybe he never even truly considered Sims to be his shadow to begin with and just acted like it. The worst loss for the Silo was Holston cause he was smart leader but not too curious enough to get himself into trouble, at least before his wife died. I agree the worst loss the Silo could suffer now is either Bernard himself or Dr. Nichols. I don't think Jules was a major loss for the Silo to be honest. She had recently fixed the generator so it should last enough to appoint and teach new mechanical workers. (And this is assuming it's true they really need the generator's energy to fuel the Silo).
Since the Mayor previously mentioned he has his own suit, I wonder if Solo has one in the vault that he can use to bargain with Juliette to solve the flooding issue or to leave with her later
Just watch the show’s trailer. The promo for next week says Solo saves her and she has to return a favor. In the trailer they show her diving in an orange suit so it’s obvious she does it.
Judge is just a figurehead position. Sims could have never been a shadow, he is a pretty much just a dumb jock, he never questions, just does. He couldn't figure out the hard drive or what to do with /fix it
I wonder if a person with a family like Sims would ever be considered to be a shadow -- could he chose 'what's best for the Silo' over 'what's best for my wife and child'?
There's a pretty large gap between dum jock and someone who can fix a platter/spinning hard drive thats had its insides smashed with a hammer. And why would he have the knowledge or resources to do that being born in a silo where those items are red level relics and that knowledge is forbidden(as we saw in ep1 when the hard drive recovery notes were deleted)?. I bet you that even the IT lady who wrote those notes couldn't do it. Neither could Bernard/lukas, it was TV magic. But you also remember that education doesn't equal intelligence. Sims lacking that knowledge doesn't make him dum, just uneducated on the topic... Thinking he should be able to do that maybe says you lack some knowledge on the topic too lol.
@CrunchyTire you're missing the point. Sims lacks what comes easy for Lucas. Sims uses brute force and lacks subtleties for a Bernard shadow. It's like he couldn't/wouldn't think of anything besides violence to solve anything. As a matter of fact, Bernard isn't the sharpest either, cunning yes, but Meadows was far better but she let going outside and her love for Bernard cloud her judgement.
@burntorangehorn it makes it look like there's only one doctor, the fact that it looked like the only other person helping all those injured people was an amateur herbalist
I believe they've implied that there are multiple hospitals throughout the silo. My assumption was he is the "special" doctor faking implant removals. The request goes right to his computer. If they all knew it would probably get out.
I am with Catfish! Idk why but I’m team Bernard.. He’s is the Solo! willing to die for the order.. Sims wife is sneaky and it’s gonna cost her and she will get a Double B! “Bernard Beatdown.” 7/10 for me.. Solo needs therapy smh..Dr Nichols is fed up with Bernard n I loved it.. I love this podcast..
Here's a question with all the changes from the books and the way this world is set up, would you have liked it if they made an original story using one of the other Silos? I only recently found out there's novellas that are Hugh Howey approved that tell other silo's stories. For me personally I could go either way, though without Juliette's story you probably wouldn't see another Silo being interacted with and where would it end that's satisfying?
i want to see the part where he lost his mind, they cut to the punchlines laughter 🤣 im curious about the story of solo in 17 but more so on what is oging to happens in 18 if julliet doesnt make it back thats the story im interested in. i dont like it much when they cut to the others in 18 with out juliet but i get. hey this was pretty great seen a few of these explain to me what i saw shows jahajah just goes to show we want to go back to these worlds...strange. but this recap silo show was my favorite, 1st eposide i listened to and im stating the obvious but its these two guys, theyre great, makes me wonder if they worked on a radio tv or done another podcast. either way thanks guys viva la revolucion Solo Rules!😅
For weeks now I have tried to find ANY advantage to living in the silo. Other than the protection it offers from the wasteland outside I'm just fine living topside. Billings, consummate disciple of the Pact, has been suffering a deep angst since becoming sheriff. In his meticulous, leave no stone unturned, execution of his duties he is about learn and has learned about the dark side of the silo's deceitful overlords. My guess, he rushes back to his wife and child to protect them from the inevitable storm ahead or he helps lead the way to rebellion. I have no idea where the show runners are taking us with the Solo ID story line. I hope there's a big payoff cause it's a slogfest for me. Solo will bring Jules into the vault and tend to her wounds. We'll find out she's been out of it for a few days. When she wakes up she'll get a glimpse and maybe a tutorial on what's behind the curtain. Sci-fi and dystopian genres rely on the suspension of our disbelief. I did a "back of the matchbook" calculation on how long it would actually take to go from the bottom to top floor (143 sets of stairs). It is about a 4.33 mile trek. The average pace on flat terrain is 2.5 mph. I used a 1 mph pace with rest stops. So 6 to 8 hours would be a reasonable timetable. It was just one of those things I couldn't let go. Lovin' this podcast. See ya on Tuesday.

Lots of questions: the one that I assume the show might answer is the "older" tech compared to the supreme tech in other areas of the Silo

Since the Mayor previously mentioned he has his own suit, I wonder if Solo has one in the vault that he can use to bargain with Juliette to solve the flooding issue or to leave with her later
Smart thought: Solo "You get a suit if you help me turn on the water pumps?"
My “Catfish question” is where does the groundwater get pumped out to?
Brilliant question, watch it get dumped in a different silo :)
Maybe the deep pit where the digging machine is. Swim down. Open the door. Try not to get sucked in. Every silo must have a passage to it.
Well I think simms is angry because his whole career judge was just puppet and he had power over her.
100% - can Sims and Mrs. Sims take the 'lemon' job of Judge, and make lemonade?
Just watch the show’s trailer. The promo for next week says Solo saves her and she has to return a favor. In the trailer they show her diving in an orange suit so it’s obvious she does it.
oh snap. Solo better get his foot loose, he's going to have lots of air to pump
Do we know the entrance to the mine is in the down deep?

We should... but our "real jobs" are getting ridiculously busy
It’s strange that Dr Nichols is the only doctor in the silo . Given that there are so many people wouldn’t they have at least two or three doctors.
There are more doctors and more hospitals to serve 10.000 people. But only one deserves our attention in the story.
What makes you think there's only one doctor? Didn't another doctor do Allison's fake birth control removal?

I don't think "Solo" is the original Solo. I think the original Solo is still in Silo 17 somewhere.
No idea where you get that from... Solo's visceral reaction to the classroom and the picture of the youg couple tells enough about who he is....
