Ahh thanks man! That's a great compliment, and it's good to know you're still enjoying this from all those years ago. I hope the big man approves of me and what I've been doing haha
@lilboyinred1 and everybody. The tuning for this is standard but tuned down two steps/fretts. i have tried to make a tutorial for this but i get lost while trying to explain it. As for tabs and where to find them...they dont exist sorry :( i went through the search myself only to be sorely disappointed after weeks of searching, so i studied every dvd and live recording i could get my hands on. I will try to make a vid or a tab. Dont give up guys! N thanks for all the cool comments
There's only one person I've ever heard play that better ......... and that's JM ............ that's about the highest compliment I can possible pay you ;) .......... keep it up James - and thanks for taking the time to put this up !!!!
fantastic cover man, been studying your video for months and have finally learned to play this song. really appreciate the effort, keep up the good work
Really love how you've kind of slowed it down a bit compared to the JM version... Gives it kind of a "cooler" more swaggering blues feel. Exceptional work!
I think this is probably the best cover I've seen of the easy blues! Excellent work! Well done! Perfection! Is there anyway I can buy the tab from you?!!
Dude, that was awesome! Almost sounds better than John himself. Could you please do a tutorial video similar to the others were you just play through it slowly?
Bloody brilliant playing squire, top notch. Theres no doubt at all in my mind that this is the best full cover-performance of JRBaker/Easy Blues, from start to finish full song. How much do you want from me to tab it? (or at least the rolling hammer ons) Ive always had difficulty with this one-youve got the rolling hammer ons spot on. -Ian
Ha ha I use Martin strings. The red ones... I sound like such an amateur don't I? The red ones ha ha. I only appear to be able to play guitar. I'm not as good as people on here give me credit for...
This is brilliant. Any chance you can make a wee tutorial on this one? I can play a few of his songs already; May You Never / Don’t Wana Know / Head & Heart but this one has always escaped me. Happy to make it worth your while if you’ve got time 🙏
Many thanks Billy! I'm currently in the middle of making some tutorials of pretty much all the John Martyn I know. I'll put The Easy Blues at the top of the list now 👍 I've seen a few good covers of this song, but I think people struggle with the timing of the rolling hammer ons, so I'm working on making that super easy... as the name suggests it should be haha
@@JamesRyanHerring some man 👌 you’ve got it down just like the bigman used to play it! It feels like an ancient survival skill or an old story that if you don’t pass it on it’ll be lost forever….”one does not simply learn the Easy Blues from sheet music my son”! 😂
@@billydyer7213 😂 too right! One learns it by fumbling around and occasionally slapping your guitar somewhere in the middle. Then repeat for several years 😫 An ancient survival skill! Mate I'll do it just for that 🙏 Now I feel like it's my responsibility to put that knowledge onto the Web for eternity
13 years later me and my mate still listen to this and cannot get over the roll on the E. Incredible version mate, done the big man proud there.
Ahh thanks man! That's a great compliment, and it's good to know you're still enjoying this from all those years ago. I hope the big man approves of me and what I've been doing haha
Peace brother
That guitar took a proper beating! Brilliant cover, I've learned the song watching this video. Hope you start uploading again.
MY GOD what a groove. It's the perfect speed -- John Martyn used to rattle through it way too fast for my taste!
As a lifetime fan of JM, I hate hearing covers of his songs, because they are usually bad, but this is a sound rendition. Excellent job.
That was amazing James, never thought anyone would be able to do that justice.
Thank you very much.
After all these years I'm finally working on a breakdown video. Soon anyone will be able to do it 😁 if I do it right haha

Best cover of this I've heard.
Much respect.
Thanks alot for putting this up, there's no way I could have worked out the song without watching you play it. It's a fantastic cover!

thats class. I can play it, but need to work more on the rolling sound!
amazing this mate. What is the tuning you are using?
standard down 1 step
Hey James, I've done a cover of this song on my channel and your cover was very useful. Hope you are still playing :)
That a string is tuned to G, iv'e heard loads of J M's version's of it and his guitar is always tuned down. What if you wanna stay in concert pitch
Slickness - what tuning did you use?
Really great cover ! Have you a tab of the song ??
any joy find a tab for this?
+1 on the great cover
Jordan Rumeau i will throw one together at some point but its just one of those things that you stumble across. im sure a tab would help tho
How Long did it take you to nut that out? I've been watching you play it for days now and Im still crap :(
