Hey Ben, if you're reading this man my condolences. I said it before and I'll say it again to all you guys. My condolences hats off you guys pushing forward. And Ben for what it's worth bro I hope you get through this. Take some time to mourn take the time to grief. I know like you things can stack up. One deployment after another of fighting and I lost men and I lost friends initially but obviously later I was in charge. So I was a leader making plans and my soldiers would get hurt or die on this Mission plan. In 4 years because we are deploying so much do you bury it. And I remember about a year after I got out I just broke survivor's guilt PTSD traumatic brain injury from getting blown up a few times. And good thing I take my firing pins out of every weapon when I put it away even though I got it out of the lock box. That night I was super drunk wife and kids went to bed and I knew what I was going to try to do. So I tried and then I realized I took the firing pin out and then that's how drunk I was. Good thing I was. Next morning wife comes down wake me up I go up and take a shower come down like nothing happened. Point is you have to grief you have to let things out if not they bottle up and they can become exponentially worse. I went to counseling for approximately three months regularly and then twice a month after. And then also I had substance problems more on the alcohol and I went to rehab for approximately 100 days. And I've been sober now for four years. I understand sobriety ain't part of this conversation but the point is the mental well-being and getting help and sharing things with close friends or sometimes even a stranger because you feel like they might not judge you.
