Final Acura stereo system RESULTS!

- Today I test the results of the Acura stereo system and make the final adjustments. I will be using three RTA units with microphones set in various location to see how the highs respond from different positions in the car. I also end up comparing RTA's and trying out a SPL meter from SPL Labs to see how the Ecstasy subwoofers perform in our 4th order bandpass box.

Seeing how Doug is a perfectionist and takes 6 months to do the smallest projects that was quick for him...
I ordered my Ornament @8:27 am Monday the 11th of November. So Jan. 2020 I should be getting it.
Been almost a month now for me.
The first one I ordered was on the last run of em so it took almost 2mo but the new one I bought the day they were released, got in almost a week and a half later.

2002 high school car show senior year I did that same 131.5 with some lanzar 10s and amp, 87 Taurus worn tf outtt. About the same setup minus your nicer box! 👊🏽👌🏾💨

I like my spl lab mini bass meter. I actually got a Walmart dual 12" sub to do 133.3 db in my bronco so far. That is great little tool for testing

Your Thinkpad is awesome.
Since our ears are more sensitive to the 800 to 1500hz range its common to dial in that dip after using an RTA to flatten everything while final tuning by ear to compensate for this fact. Most will find after spending hours fine tuning for a flat response that it simply does not sound the best to the ear.
So, I'm sure it sounds great with that dip

Subsonic Filter why? Every Filter adds Group delay which is perceived as Echo when >30 ms. This might be the case with that bandpass even without Filter. Because of that I wouldnt set it. Or at least try without

lol I could use that bag of memories. I broke/lost a couple clips in my 02' accord after ripping out the under dash and center console to run the 4 awg and remote wire. Keep kicking myself in the ass for not changing out the filters while I was in there under the glovebox.

Try removing the door panels and then look at your curve. The issue might be that your panel is blocking half of that 8" in the doors.

Ya ask rta but it should be a calibrated microphone for sure. Have to make sure levels are set correct cause you don’t know if its accurate till calibrated and settings are correct.
You ever thought of doing a large spl build? Those seem to get a lot of views and you would be really good at it. Be fun to watch those bass danglers go ape shit!
Try reversing the polarity on the tweeters to see if they sum with the top end of the midrange drivers better.

A little bit of talc/baby powder should help the ports slide in and out of the box... but that doesn't mean you can use it on Rafa's moms ports.

cut the ports down..... pulling the ports just up threw the deck is going to make tuned even lower because the box volume will increase with the ports external vrs internally... effectually lowering the tuning. you can also try larger diameter ports. the higher port volume will raise the tuning

Why would Audiocontrol not put the same calibration scales from the original RTA into the new RTA? So you have to until they fix a scale control in put the mic on the console? Am I missing something thats ridiculous.

Doug you need a Volkswagen Camper there is no seat between sound and you. My Transporter with 1200watts kicker doubleswing on 1ohm crunch system was lungth vibrating and that was driveby mind blowing. No-one focused the bass and we lough all the time. Because the bus was stock. Ok 5 cylinder engine with straightpipe, but the rest stock😂😂😂😝
