  • Improve your snowboarding turns and snowboarding technique by employing 'Torsional Twist' into your riding! In this video I teach you how to become a better snowboarder by using your knees and ankles properly. This important technique is often used by beginner snowboarders when they start learning, but then forgotten about as they progress. However it is very important when creating grippy short radius turns on your snowboard.
If you would like to have snowboard lessons with me here in Alpe d'Huez, France, then take a look at my website below to find out more:

This is explained alot better than in most other beginner videos. You explain how to get the board on edge perfectly. Many videos say "use your shoulder" to initiate the turn which is bad, because later you want a complete seperation of upper and lower body. Turning with the "levers" (lower body) is an awesome explenation

Great videos Malcolm, I’ve been snowboarding for over 20 years now myself but I’m not an instructor and I can’t explain properly how I do what I’m doing. I have just bought my 11 year old son his first board and teaching the very basics is easy enough but this lever analogy for torsional twist is genius Malcolm. I didn’t really know that that’s what I do when I turn! But now I can explain this better to my son. I’ve been watching a few more of your videos now and you explain everything clearly and well. Great job, and thanks.

Malcolm. Wow. I tried this today and it really brought my turning up so much! I come from a surf, skate and water ski background. I've been doing those since I was 8 years old and was even competing on an amateur level in skateboarding and water skiing. I surfed triple overhead waves when I lived in southern California. I moved to Switzerland and started snowboarding late last year. When I got off piste at the end of the season, the whole thing opened up. I was surfing again. But I didn't know how to work with the bindings. They seemed to prevent me from letting my feet guide the board. I've been listening to other UA-camrs and nothing has helped more than this video right here. We got some fresh snow and the slope closest to home was closed, so I hiked up and tried this. Wow. I am suddenly on the next level. Thank you Thank you Thank you.

I've not seen turns explained like this before. I gave this a try today and the responsiveness from the board almost startled me the first time I tried it. Everyone says "get on your toes" or "get on your heels" and that *sorta* works but the technique in this video works on a whole higher level. I felt much more in control today after working the board this way. Thanks from a grateful newbie.

Bro, this is literally the best edge to edge turn tutorial I could find on UA-cam! When I was practicing carving turns, I always found myself kicking the back leg and I always end up with skid turns. Thank you so much! Please keep the hard work. - Fan from China

Thankyou! Unfortunately the ski resorts here in france are still shut, but I'm still trying to make videos, it just requires me to hike alot!

This is awesome Malcolm. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation of how torsional twist affects how the board reacts. My entire family just started riding and this video is perfect! Thanks again mate!
