      You should check out Nobuo Uematsu's band - "The Black Mages". While not piano, it's his metal/rock versions of his songs, and his version of "The Skies Above" is not to be missed. Also, "Dancing Mad" (Final Fantasy 6; Kefka battle) is not to be missed, either...

    This is literally the only song that makes me cry every, single, time. The piece conveys the sadeness of what Yuna must shortly do, yet the hope she brings and the determination of her will that carries not only herself, but her guardians as well. Nobuo captured the moment absolutely perfectly in song to the point where no dialogue is even needed and it shows by how little there is in the Zanarkand scene.

    Absolutely the best interpretation I’ve ever heard, perfect tempo and loudness to catch the emotion. I just started learning piano 6 months ago. this really showed how dramatic the difference is with expert vs beginner.
    I’ve spent 200+ hours just practicing this piece and I can play it pretty good but nowhere near as smooth as you.

    "This arrangement is very pretty, although my personal opinion is that there could be more to it."
    Sometimes less is more. The pauses and quietness really help to convey the emotions of the scene. You did it justice.

    • @nathanbloom1844
      @nathanbloom1844 2 роки тому +1

      So many times Nobuo Uematsu plays with the quiet amongst the flurry. This is what makes his songs stand the test of time. Yes, you could blast through with powerful cords time and again, but when you pause to feel the emotion you really feel what is going on and feel the power of a well-built song.

  • @capitalcitygiant
    @capitalcitygiant 5 років тому +3

    I love the way you go into the main bit at 1:07 without a pause. So many renditions put a little break there as if to try and show emotion but all they end up doing is losing the momentum from the arpeggio. It's so satisfying to hear you drop straight into it without stopping.

    Wow! Beautiful music played by a beautiful lady. I don't mind the background noise at all, ambient noise makes the sound more realistic. The best part of music is the texture of the sound, from the keys hitting the strings to the pedals hitting the floor, all adds to those subtle details that I like so much in live music. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for this one so very much Kara! This is perfect!! This is one of the few songs on a Final Fantasy that (nearly) brought a tear out off my eye!

    Excellent rendition. Thank you for sharing. The quiet and simplicity of much of the piece is what makes the stronger portions so powerful, imo. And simple isn't necessarily worse. Beethoven's "Tempest" and other compositions of its ilk are infinitely more difficult to play, but they can be an amorphous orgy of notes without soul or melody--a technical exhibition, nothing more.

    you look like a doll, I'm learning this piece as a beginner is kind of hard at first but I'm making huge progress, I like how you move your hands they are like ballet dancers on a piano. I probably look like a robot playing maybe I should try to do something like that

      Thank you Sergio :) I have been playing the piano for as long as I remember. While Final Fantasy music is new to me (within the past year) I have had extensive training, and I have much to thank my teachers and my family for motivating me to continue! Just keep playing every day and those robots will turn into dancers :) 💃

      ideally in classical performance your hands should be rather robotic. check out vladimir horowitz' hands when he plays. extremely precise movement, but incredibly evocative sound

    OMG I love your rendition of the song again! I understand you feel like there could be more to it... it's just a very melancholic song for the story, that's why it's so calm and kinda sad. It had a participation in the Ending Theme for FFX, if you want to listen to the song and see how it is. It feels way more hopeful and powerful with the Orchestra.

    Una gran canción con una gran pianista. Vas a llegar muy lejos. Muchas Felicidades y no te detengas; solo el que se detiene en el camino es el que nunca más se levanta para volver a sonreir.
