    Peter, just wondring, you didn't renew with OM-D? I mean you've been a great ambassador of Olympus for such a long time.... they should keep you. Thanks for all the Vids! you're amazing!

      Thank you! Their policy changed. The main focus in OMDS are, wildlife, birds, outdoor and macro. None of that is my main thing. That is why I do not have a contract with them. I still work closely with them here in Finland.

    Peter, since I can only afford to buy used equipment, I really appreciate the fact you show exactly which cameras have the features you are describing. Also printing the list is very useful because I can stop the video and make a note before continuing. Thanks again, and to borrow a great phrase, bye for now.

    Great your being back in the game named "Olympus-Tips&Tricks" .
    You have done much of this.
    Is it an impossible wish, that you write a book of all this - maybe in cooperation with Robin Wong and other Olympus visionarys?

    Great tips! I have AF Limited assigned to my Lens Function Button. a quick press will turn on or off the AF Limited. A long press will get me to where I can select which AF Limited setting to select. Then the Info Button will let me change the settings.

    Thanks for the tips. The folder one sounds useful. I did not know about the liveND noise reduction will take a look. For Astrophotography I have tried Hand Held High Res on a tripod for Milky Way shots - you can go up to ISO 6400 and it will take 16 frames and combine them which gives some noise reduction. I got better results for this compared to tripod high res mode.

    • @donsnow4564
      @donsnow4564 2 роки тому

      @@ForsgardPeter based on my requirements and skill level. I would stick with the e-m5 iii.
      3 things I find lacking on my older e-m5 are, can't attach mic to camera, no 4k video and I hate that histogram, level and blinkies are all seperate views. Would prefer them to be combinable. Thinking the 20mp sensor will be nice upgrade and hoping to be able to push iso levels more when needed.

    Hi Peter, thanks for your tips - especially the Live ND one, very interesting. I came to using the lever to switch between still and video last year when using an E-M5ii for both video talks and general photography. Together with the custom modes I was able to quickly switch to my preferred video settings and shoot away.

    It is challenging to remember what the complete Olympus camera program has to offer. In particular, interconnectivity and usability. And manuals exceeding 200 pages are simply a work of art.

    i used the focus limiter for shooting swallows, made it from 20 to 200m, they were really flying close and low. it worked with the zuiko 50-150 pro + 1.4 TC better than the 100-400 mm f6.3.

  • @hauke3644
    @hauke3644 3 роки тому

    In my experience, the camera focus limiter is a good feature, but a bit clumsy to operate.
    I've been using the level switch for video for a while, but gone back to using the mode dial, in order to get the level switch back for other settings.
    Live ND for noise reduction is an interesting idea. Unfortunately, only the latest E-M1 models have it, but I think that in most situations where that is suitable, you could also use highres. That reduces noise very efficiently, too. Apart from that, with PhotoLab's Deepprime noise reduction, noise is not so much of an issue as it may have been before.

    • @ForsgardPeter
      @ForsgardPeter  3 роки тому

      I agree that the AF limiter is a bit clumsy to operate. On trick is to assign the AF Limiter to a function button. It is an easy access.

    Regarding the AF limiter. On primes it works as intended, however on Zooms, it is rather useless, since the number you enter are only correct when fully zoomed in, at any other zoom level they are hugely decreased.

      @@ForsgardPeter thanks Peter, actually the last 24 hours have been a nightmare, I'm ready to throw my camera and lenses away. The bin men come tomorrow so perfect!
      The original question was/is about my EM10 Mark III, the screen has started a flicker just after I single auto focus then after the shot, jogs slightly to catch up. Then is fine till next S-AF. Wondered if you had seen this before. Only noticed it yesterday.
      Then this afternoon picked up my EM1 Mark I. Switched on to check battery and went for a walk. Went to take a shot and the body won't power up. Thought it was me. But at home tried four fully charged batteries, and the body won't come on.
      Two cameras in 1 day (to go with my 14-42EZ motor last week stopped working. I'm stressed because I really REALLY look after my kit. It's expensive after all). Any help would be amazing.
