The controlled fuel plans are intended to minimize the cost of fuel. Suppose you have only enough fuel to get from Dallas to Albuquerque, but your load is going to Phoenix. But, fuel in Flagstaff, AZ is $.30/gallon cheaper than in Albuquerque. So, you get enough fuel to get from Albuquerque to Flagstaff, then fill up in Flagstaff. That's a very basic breakdown of why some companies have forced fueling solutions.
@nevergiveupnevergivein7655 if drivers were taught how to fill according to ifta then they wouldn't need to have fueling plans like that and it might help companies better when it comes to filing their ifta just my opinion
@nevergiveupnevergivein7655 ok, so this might be kind of a long explanation. So Ifta is the international fuel tax agreement. This is something I have to file every quarter as an owner operator, and every carrier has to file it, too. When I say fuel according to ifta, I have to figure out what the fuel tax price is on my route when I need fuel. I then take the fuel tax in the state and subtract it from the fuel price from my discount card. For example, going from Michigan to Illinois, the fuel price in Michigan is 3.306, and the fuel tax is .483, so my actual fuel price in Michigan is 2.823 Indiana 3.414 tax .590 actual price 2.824 Illinois 3.553 tax .757 actual 2.796. So even though the fuel price in Illinois is the highest price, it's actually the cheapest. Maintaining your fuel economy will also help you save when it comes to filling the Ifta because as you're driving, you get charged fuel tax in each state you drive in. They calculate how much fuel you burn in each state by how many miles you drive in each state, and they calculate that according to how many miles per gallon your truck gets. So if you're filling up in states that have a higher fuel tax more often and burning that fuel in states that have a lower fuel tax then you have a better chance of getting money back when you file your quarterly ifta. I hope this all makes sense. If not, feel free to ask any more questions. I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks for watching and subscribing it's much appreciated.
@nevergiveupnevergivein7655 I'm glad I was able to make it make sense, but that's why I think companies should teach drivers about ifta or at least maybe give drivers controlled fuel plans based on ifta I don't know. This video is old, and I haven't watched it in a while, but I'm sure I've probably learned a lot more since I made this 1, lol!
@mrmentorcreditjamz9305 when I was there I was on the aunt millies account and the trucks we had were governed at 64 as far as I can remember I believe their otr trucks are governed at 68 but things may have changed since I was there 3 years ago
After listening to your video I’m very interested to be part of Continental Express. Who do you recommend me to talk with about being part of the Team?
@eventhejunglewantedhimdead480 it's been going good it definitely has its ups and downs, but I thankfully set myself up with low cost and saved when the market was good. Just need to survive this market and reap the rewards after 🤞
@@Trucking_with_Trucker_D Thank you. I spoke with a recruiter this morning for a position at the Coldwater terminal and she said she's going to run my reports. Not sure when she'll call me back, but hopefully one of these days sooner than later 🤞🏽
This company said they have “values” I ran with this company for two months. They sent me a message telling me that I wasn’t going to be paid the following week, on June 2nd 2022 while in Iowa trying to get tires fixed Jake Albers (Operations Director) called me and told me I had 30 minutes to get my stuff out I was done. 7 hours from home I was dumped like a bag of trash. This company doesn’t maintain their equipment, they don’t pay according to U.S Labor Laws, their CSA scores are in the red, they don’t value drivers have personal lives. I hope no one ever goes through what I did, but I was able to financially eat their lack of care and still get home. I spoke to Russ on the phone and he told me I was irrational and felt what he did was ok.. Good luck!
Ya, it was hell from the start. Paychecks were always messed up because I was never consistently home the same time cause of poor planning and unable to mail paperwork in. Company thinks it’s always the weather, I had 7 weeks of good weather and things still got all jacked up every week. Kim doesn’t seem to be well organized or have the drivers best interest in mind and then for them to dump me in Iowa just trying to get some bad tires fixed was definitely an action that showed they don’t care. And then for Russ the owner to tell me there was nothing wrong with the tires, and that I was irrational because I was pissed off over unsafe equipment and being told I wouldn’t be getting a paycheck. I got tired of hear about all the trucks that get wrecked weekly and the guys consistently blowing scales. Fines were up over $100,000. There’s no way a company can be sustainable like that. But it’s over, I got home and life moves on. I hope it never happens to another driver.
I started with swift and I'm regretting it big time got a call from a guy with contenintal think I'll return it and make this my last week with swift overall just seems like a better company will I have to go back through training again with only 2 weeks solo on the road and 5 weeks with mentor? if I switch to contenintal

Lol no problem enjoy your time there I miss them from time to time but I always had bigger goals. They are a great company they do what they can within reason to keep you happy from my experience 😊
Hey man I'm thinking in signing on with Continental Express out of the Ft Worth TX terminal. I like what they offering so far. Got a question? How fast do y'all trucks go??
The trucks are governed at 64 but after a year of safe driving and no preventable accidents they bump it up to 67. But don't let the speed of the trucks be your determining factor. Those speeds actually help with better fuel economy which will help you get fuel mileage bonuses.
@@Trucking_with_Trucker_D Cool! Appreciate your response. I think I'm a make the move brother. Continental Express might be my future employers. I really like their benefits. Hope to see you out there. Be safe man
The time difference in traveling at 60 mph and 70 mph over several hundred miles is not that great. The reason being is that no matter what the vehicle's maximum speed is, there will be stretches where the vehicle can't legally go over even the lowest governed speed (Raider Express @58 MPH), so the average speed over several hundred miles becomes pretty similar no matter how low a company has its trucks governed. Any truck driver who has complained about the speed of trucks has never taken the time to actually see how much of a difference it made. If they did take that time, they would stop complaining because it's a non-issue.
When I was there they didn't and as far as I know they still don't. You can idle the truck I believe it was if it was 75 and hotter or 32 or lower but they do have bunk heaters at least the truck I had did.
Slip seating really depends on what account your on. If you're otr I don't believe you have to slip seat but I don't know anything about that side and taking the truck home really depends on where you live. I was on the aunt millies account which was a local home every day gig which was slip seating
Yeah the camera has a driving facing camera and a camera on each side of the camera and a road facing camera so four lenses total, but it shuts off when your stopped it only comes on after you go about 10 mph.

Folks sit behind a desk and try to tell you an seasoned veteran at driving how to drive a truck when they’ve never driven one.
