Hello from Alaska/ Tennessee! I just finished up a little tomahawk for my daughter that she will hopefully have forever. 1045 body with 80crv2 edge. I really like the solid medium carbon steel hatchet construction! I gotta make one like that someday.

I grew up in a logging community and we played with stuff like this when we were kids . Nothing as fancy as this mind you , we just got the department store ones And reground them to be more useful .

Thanks! I use a billet 1"x 2" x 3" for my trail hatchets like these
You really put a quality on your hatchet all process is done, but why not edge quench so you dont half to temper the chick, and is 1060 same as 5160?
I like to have a hardened and tempered poll so it can be used as a hammer. 5150 is 1060 with .8% chromium in it. Which, of course, makes it a very different steel.
