My son bought new in 2018 Kia Rio EX 4door Hatchback, 1.6 L 4 cylinder, 11.1 compression ratio, non-turbo, 6 speed automatic: got 46 MPG, last week, on Shell Premium Gasoline... !!
Imo, the styling isn't bad except for the lower portion of the front grill. I am still on the fence concerning their batteries 🔋 and turbo engines though.
Purchased my Sorento 1 1-2 ago and have already had to replace Engine, brakes and rotors twice and now part of the transmission is bad. Kia doesn’t seem to care or want to help me. Think twice before you purchase a Kia vehicle. They will break and break on you and you will be too far upside down to unload it.
Yup. You can get it in light gray. The PHEV is also available with grey/navy. I hate black interiors, too. My 2019 Niro EV didn’t give me a choice, but I got my 2022 Sorento PHEV in light grey.
My 22 kia Sorento hybrid AWD has been in the shop since may 25th. 4512 miles on the odometer and kia has yet to do anything satisfactory about it....hell....I haven't even heard from them after hiring a lawyer. Apparently they don't take care of their customers.
@@lsu205 well anytime you are under load and in boost they require more fuel than an N/A engine. And what are we trying to achieve with a hybrid powertrain? The best fuel efficiency. Also, everytime that engine shuts off when it switches over to electric, you are cutting off the oil supply to the turbo.
That’s the older Theta engines, the 1.6T and other Smartstream engines are good. The 3.8L V6 engine in the Telluride is also one of the most bulletproof engines you can get in a Hyundai/Kia, they’ve been using that engine for 20 years or so I believe now.
John Davis is an American treasure. All these years hosting MotorWeek.

Your son put premium in a Kia Rio? Lol.

Did I miss the review of the Driver Assistance Mode? Steering, acceleration, deceleration, braking...it's fantastic!!

Is it even possible to get a Kia that doesn't have a black interior. Black interior keeps me from being a buyer.

I’m right there with you every car seems to have black interiors, I’m never. Buying a black interior.
Going The Distance
You can easily get 42mpg in this.

What happened to it?
Update? What was wrong with it?
Having a turbocharged engine with the hybrid power train is not a good idea.
nonsense. why?

I’m betting Kia engineers know what works.
Refill inverter coolant. Refill it!
It’s gonna catch on fire
Nice SUV!
It is very good looking especially from the back.. I like it!
Aren't these engines prone to catching fire 🔥?

KIA needs to redesign their logo. It looks like K + upside down N
Small wheels
Smoother ride.
For efficiency
Big wheels need bigger wheel-wells, which eats into cabin space.
The front center console is too wide & too tall. This won’t work for us
35 mpg for a Hybrid is quite poor.
It is a SUV not a toyota corolla.
Yup. RAV4 hybrid gets 41 mpg city and 38 mpg highway
RAV4 is not in same class, it’s smaller than the Sorento
