Watched it last night. Cried all the way through. For a movie that has no human characters whatsoever it told one of the deepest human stories I had ever heard.
Okay so it's not just me that was tearing up the whole time? I don't usually get that emotional in movies but man this movie got me. Especially during the flying montage and everything after. Amazing movie
@@dtanobo definitely not just you. I don't even have kids and that fly away scene where the mom watched her kid take off for the last time truly got me.
@@paulw858there isn’t anything tragic in the movie, which was my worry too. The tears come from extreme emotional beats that you could relate to, like having to let go of a child after they grow up and need to find their own way in the world. Also there are themes of community, love, strife, being an underdog but sticking it through, and choosing to be a better person for the sake of family. It’s an incredibly mature story at the same level as Charlotte’s Web and Babe.
also to note, this is the final dreamworks film that’s animated in-house. dreamworks isn’t going anywhere but their movies are going to be outsourced by other animation studios overseas from now on. universal hasn’t been utilizing dreamworks as well as illumination. so please, it would mean the world to the animators and artists that worked on the film if it became a moderate success at least. show these studios that we don’t need to rely on huge IPs to make successful movies, especially in animation.
The US box office is currently $112m & worldwide box office is currently $233m, so it's great to see such an amazing film, being financially successful too.
As an someone who worked on the cameras in this film, this is so incredible to hear from you!! Thank you so much for your kind words and even if you hated the film, I still would’ve loved this video! And just some bts for the cinematography in this film: Spielberg was definitely one of our inspirations camera-wise, with the shot of Roz falling down the cliff has her headlights shine through the forrest being coined by Sanders as the “Spielberg shot” during our feedback sessions for that sequence! And Nolan too as many of our flying sequences were directly inspired by Dunkirk! Anyways, loved your review and so inspiring to see you directing your own films!!
I really hope you’re working conditions were good, I’ve heard far to many horror stories over the last years about the stress and even outright abuse people who work on animated films suffer. The movie was spectacular, my favourite DreamWorks film ‘The Hidden World’. 🫶
Just watched the movie in Greece today.... And I believe that "congratulations" is not an adequate word. This is how movies should be made: simply gorgeous inside - out!
During the migration scene where Longneck and the rest flyby Roz one last time, is this heavily inspired by The Hobbit movie where the eagles flyby Gandalf during the eagle rescue scene?

Just watched it and was blown away. The visuals are breathtaking and the story had a lot of heart. And the MUSIC was a masterclass. Overall an amazing movie. This will win the Oscar for Animated Feature. Mark my words.
My 10 year old daughter asked to go see this as she read the book. We both cried our eyes out!! It’s a beautiful movie. The visuals, the music, the story…. all absolutely stunning. It’s the best animation I’ve watched in a long time.

Dreamworks’s movies might be pretty hit/miss, but once they actually lock in, they end up delivering an unexpected masterpiece. Much like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish back in 2022.
I think one of the great things about this movie is while it’s voiced by well known actors, it’s not immediately apparent that it’s them. They’re actually playing a character rather than just voicing a character with their natural voice.
I’m so glad to have met Chris Sanders a while back when he was in his own booth in an animation convention I was invited too. He agreed to do a cameo on my UA-cam channel. Shoutout to him.

Definitely my favorite movie of the year! My son (8) saw it twice in theaters and now watches it at home every day and tells us it’s his favorite movie
An employee took me out on my birthday to the movies, now a tradition between us. We saw "The Substance", mid-afternoon. That movie just bothered me, I couldn't shake it. During dinner, I asked her "Can we go back to the theater and see 'Wild Robot' so I can clear my brain?" (I'd already seen it). She laughed and cried all the way through...I was thrilled. I think it could get consideration for Oscar for best picture. All of my friends, with kids and without, loved it.
Finally something not over done or generic. It was full of emotions and moved me in a way no movie has in years. The music, the visuals, and the acting were incredible. I cried for sure. There wasn't enough advertising, most people I know hadn't heard of it including myself until I came across it on Reddit by accident and the theater is so expensive now that not as many people go to movies anymore except for big name brands they know like Transformers. I hope so much that when it comes to streaming that more people will watch it like what's happened with so many good films. Easily one of my favorite films.
I remember randomly getting the trailer for this like 3 or 4 months ago at my computer. Just trying to watch a tutorial for something while i was at work. And i cried. It was beautiful, and the score of just the trailer hit SO HARD. This was definitely on my list before, but now having this recommendation, its sky rocketed to top 3.
Saw it last night in IMAX and I was really blown away of how great this was! Like Transformers One, this one also took me off guard of how great both the story and characters were and it didn't make me lose attention especially how amazing the animation looked in The Wild Robot!
I rarely go to the threatre. But seing all the good reviews on YT, without actually watching them, just based on titles and thumbnails, I bought a ticket on a whim, and I could not have made a better use of my Saturday. This movie was wonderful.
My 6 year old Son.. cried... yes... cried, and not like a child crying....but like an adult who got teary eyed.... it happened when they captured roz and tried to take her memories. Movie was legit.
I think you touched on the emotional aspects beautifully. We teared up because of the joy, pride, beauty and love; not in sadness. And I had a lovely discussion with my 13 & 9 year old boys, who cried too, about how this movie brought out all the feels. This is a movie that will have universal appeal for all, I feel, and sincerely hope it does well. And seriously, Oscar appeal for sure.
Saw this movie last night with my son and wife. Really heart warming movie that was enjoyed by all of us. The art style, story and the characters were all done very well. I hope everyone will take their family/friends to see this movie because I want to see these movies do well and would really like to see a sequel in the future.
Chris, if there are any screenings near you, you have to watch the indie animated movie "Flow" (2024). People often compare these two and many actually prefer "Flow".
This movie is in my top four favourite movies of all time on Letterboxd. Got to see it at TIFF and was blown away by how stunning and touching it was. Seeing again in theatres on opening day and I'm so excited
Chris Stuckman, thank you! Because of your commentary, I asked my wife whether she'd be interested in seeing The Wild Robot. Despite her care for fuzzy and feathered critters, her nearly allergic reaction to anything with a hint of science fiction got in the way. So, I told her I'd check it out in person at a Cinemark theater (in Delaware, no less, where the Tuesday admission, bridge toll, and gas all totalled less than the price of a ticket at the Regal or AMC movie house in my current state of residence). Of course, upon my return, invitation turned to insistence, and she fell in love with Roz, too. True confession: having been assigned to read R.U.R. nearly 50 years ago in college, I started to question your concept of a child-appropriate film upon seeing the title character was a "Rozzum" robot. No spoilers here, but I'm glad my misgivings were baseless.
I did not expect this movie to be as good as it was. Probably the best children's movie of the year. There was alot of action, humor and some authentic tear jerking moments. I highly recommend this movie. Final edit to drive this point: this movie is like the Shaw Shank Redemption in that people missed out in theaters in what turned out to be a great classic. This movie connected with the audience big time....I cannot recommend it enough, nor sing its praises anymore than this channels host.
I saw the movie last night and I was thoroughly entertained and got teary eyed. Story is great and easy to follow, animation is so vibrant. 1 hr 40 min just zips by! Highly recommend this as a family movie!
I just got out of a show for this film. Man was this film a breathtaking animation masterpiece! Spectacular animation, a beautiful story, beautiful musical score, and a message that can resonate with everyone. When I first bought tickets to this film I purchased tickets for $28 at my Cinemark XD theater, and was hesitant to spend that much on a film. However, if my $28 goes towards supporting fantastic storytelling like this, then it is a $28 well fucking spent.
I spent the entire second half of this film in tears… I have never had that happen to me in a film ever. It’s one of the best animated films, and perhaps one of the best films in general, of all time.
This was honestly probably the best children’s movie this year and possibly the past couple years. The only reason me and my daughter went to see it, is because my daughter’s class was reading the book. She told me that so I said okay we’re gonna go see it. I loved it, so adorable and a really good plot behind it.
Great storytelling, beautiful visuals, heartwarming message. Everything detail and scene in this movie is there for a reason. Unbelievable work! We don't get enough of these animation movies anymore. My new favorite animation movie.
I saw this movie earlier in the year at an audience preview, when it wasnt even finished (parts were in storyboard, previs and some voiceovers werent the real actors yet). But, I thought it was amazing…funny, touching. Great for adults and kids. My only issue with it, which I noted in my survey, was that I didnt feel it was clear enough why the company tried so hard to get this one robot back. They sent in that flying vehicle with other robots to try and get her back. It seemed like alot to go through for one robot when u manufacture tons.
Thanks for reviewing this. Please review Joker 2. The reviews are seriously mixed, I don't know if it will be great, or horrible and you are the one reviewer who shares my personal taste the most.
People needs to understand about how potentially greatest animated films like that with great storytelling just like any animated films in decades since the Iron Giant. DreamWorks did an amazing job for good quality animation and storytelling as well since Disney. Please, everyone, give this movie a chance even bringing your kids to see it. Plus this movie will win an Oscar animated award. Great job, Chris. 😊👍
@@ctdog15 He'll finish that review when JJ finishes his Stopping The Steal review to prove he and all of his sycophants like you aren't giant hypocrites.
This review has definitely encouraged me to watch The Wild Robot. Even though I already have a desire to watch it. Plus this movie kinda gives me Iron Giant vibes. PS, the thing that Chris said in the end goes back to what I and another UA-camr said about how people claim Hollywood doesn’t make original films anymore when they still do and people don’t go out and support them. Yet, when it comes to sequels and remakes they often make more money in the box office than their predecessors
This is one of the better animated movies I've seen. There is no programming or instructions as a parent. Your task firsthand is building your child to succeed on their own. Formed from a bond at first sight, then made stronger through adversity. This movie is all about a mother's love that sons, daughters, and fathers can all see and embrace.
I am very glad to see that dreamworks has developed a unique style of animation. Movies like boss baby made me worry that everything was gonna start looking like an illumination film.
I’m so glad to hear this. The trailer felt so desperate by giving away sooo much of the movie (like “look! It’s heartfelt! It’s like Wall-E meets Bambi meets Baymax! The goose grows up! Bad robots come later!!”) that it really turned me off. But knowing that it’s original, that the pedigree behind it possesses world class masterful storytelling through animation, and that it’s not totally derivative compels me to watch it!
I was very surprised with how emotionally mature this movie was, all I kept thinking was man this is a great movie to bring your kid to because it touches on a lot of concpets that a kid might want to know more about
My son is literally counting down the days to see this movie. He read it last year with his class, and they absolutely loved it. I'm super exicted to see this movie, if only to see my kids' enjoyment of it.
This film is amazing, it only just came out a week or so ago here in the uk, I watched it with my 4 year old and is his first feature length cinema experience, we were both captivated from the very beginning with the story being so multi layered we both took different things from it a true family film that fits to each member of the family, I can’t wait for my wife and younger son to get to experience it too.
This movie was definitely a feel good movie. It was perfectly made for the times that we live in today. Unity was one of many messages that were present in this film. All I can say to the film maker of this movie: Thank you so much.
Took my kids today. My oldest (11yrs old) couldn't believe how much she loves it, especially because couple weeks ago I suggested that we check out Wild Robot but she was begging to see transformers instead lol Her favorite animation this year. And definitely one of the best animation I've seen as an adult.
I couldn't get anyone to go with to see this film, so I went alone to the theater. Great movie. I wished this movie or these types of movies were made and seen more. We need the message of kindness in our world.
I just saw this movie with my 7 year old son tonight, he and I both teared up a few times during this movie but not from sadness, it was just an emotional movie. He said it was the best movie he had ever seen haha
Just got back from this, was really surprised at how good it was. I went to see it because I thought the animation style was good, but it surpassed my expectations for sure. Wasn't expecting it to be so emotional lol. I liked the music too. Honestly I think this will be a classic
I made a mistake of not going, but for a person who never buys full price digital movies. I absolutely did not have any buyers remorse. We had an amazing time watching the movie with the whole Family.
My aunt & I saw this movie today. We originally went to see Joker 2, but we walked out after half an hour. (I already saw the compleate movie yesterday with my friends and I didn't realy liked it much). We then went to see this movie and we both loved it! It was so beautiful and cute. I even cryed a bit.
Real talk: I saw this with my 6 year old daughter. She was crying because it reminds her of mom, and I found it great as a moral story of parenting. It ran pretty long IMO because it added more plot points, but i guess it had to get some closure. Those extra scenes would have been better as a sequel.

Same, y 6yo cried :o what a movie
I think you touched on the emotional aspects beautifully. We teared up because of the joy, pride, beauty and love; not in sadness. And I had a lovely discussion with my 13 & 9 year old boys, who cried too, about how this movie brought out all the feels. This is a movie that will have universal appeal for all, I feel, and sincerely hope it does well. And seriously, Oscar appeal for sure.
Movie is incredible. Took my 4 year old son and 12 year old niece and I could barely hold back my tears. Go see it.
Chris, I’m glad to share that this movie IS getting a sequel! Your spokesmanship has been worthwhile
Flow is my favorite movie of the year actually 🙌🏻
This movie is in my top four favourite movies of all time on Letterboxd. Got to see it at TIFF and was blown away by how stunning and touching it was. Seeing again in theatres on opening day and I'm so excited
When Chris starts advocating for a movie, you know it’s time to go watch that movie!
One of the best new stories I’ve seen in years, I’m so happy to have seen an original story for once.
5:04 *I'm so glad you're speaking about this, it's really important!*
The trailers alone. The poster alone. Can’t wait to see it!
I cried at the trailer for this movie, so I’m eager for the full thing
Same here the trailer was so good, I cried during the actual movie as well
I just watched it today and I cried 3 times
Its boring, only a small chicken 4 5 mins of the movie, constant talking of death and animals being mean to each other. Yes the trailer is amazing
I saw it yesterday, a saturday evening, and we were not only ten in the theaters.
@@adampellett4917 also, people need to understand how great is “am I racist”. Top 4 box office and comedy of the year.
This sounds like 'The Iron Giant' or the 'Song of the Sea', great animated films that don't do well at theatres but become beloved nevertheless.
The way you edit this is so good.
He should be finishing his review on “am I racist”.
@@ctdog15nope.
@@ctdog15what
@@ctdog15 He'll finish that review when JJ finishes his Stopping The Steal review to prove he and all of his sycophants like you aren't giant hypocrites.
No one is under obligation to review the movies you want them to
Mario, Boots in boots last wish and wild Robot are Masterpieces.
DreamWorks is becoming my favorite kids studios.
I was blown away by how good this movie was. Definitely one of Dreamworks best!
He's right. I just saw it. It was good. The animation was really well done.
I initially clicked away after a minute into the video, trusting your recommendation. Glad I did, one of the best animated movies I've seen!
I was very surprised with how emotionally mature this movie was, all I kept thinking was man this is a great movie to bring your kid to because it touches on a lot of concpets that a kid might want to know more about
Very Minor Spoiler
The moment Roz said “Did anyone order me?” my heart sink and I already knew how much Id love this movie. It didn’t disappoint
Just saw it with my girlfriend, such a great movie. We both loved it
This movie was definitely a feel good movie.
We can say this movie is masterpiece, kids should watch these kind of movies
Update: $75M budget and sitting at $234.9M worldwide as of 11/2/24. I believe it started slow and got a lot of traction on tt.
I couldn't get anyone to go with to see this film, so I went alone to the theater. Great movie. I wished this movie or these types of movies were made and seen more. We need the message of kindness in our world.
I saw a teaser trailer for this several months ago and have been looking forward to it ever since. Going to see it tomorrow night.
Grateful every time I see a review of this film
I’m still crying. I will embrace my parents for as long as life allows me to have them.
This movie is so underrated. My kids and I loved it. So many good characters and themes throughout.
Okay fine. You’ve convinced me. I wasn’t going to but I’ll watch it.
good
Matt Walsh’s movie is better than this
@@CondomDogglol hilarious joke
its good, not great.. i mean its a story with talking animals, so its aimed more for kids,
I watched it and thought it was awful, and was expecting to like it.
I just saw this movie with my 7 year old son tonight, he and I both teared up a few times during this movie but not from sadness, it was just an emotional movie. He said it was the best movie he had ever seen haha
It did pretty well at the box office. #1 and off to a good start. It shouldnt drop too far as it will not get the same audience as Joker 2
Chris has a baby? Been watching him from the early days, and it feels like our own Brightbill all grown up! ❤🎉
I believe he and his wife have twins?
One of the best animated films I’ve ever seen. It blew me away. Sure I have little nitpicks, but this film is AMAZING
I did a double feature at the movie theater today, watching "The wild robot" after "The substance" was such a journey
That’s a lot of emotions to feel in one day.
I feel so validated in seeing people talk about crying during the movie. I thought I was crazy for being so emotional for most of the movie
Just got back from this, was really surprised at how good it was. I went to see it because I thought the animation style was good, but it surpassed my expectations for sure. Wasn't expecting it to be so emotional lol. I liked the music too. Honestly I think this will be a classic
I'm teary eyed watching this a LOT. I love every single part of this masterpiece!
The no4 at the box office has not been reviewed yet. Got a 98 on rotten tomatoes. I think you’d like it 😉
I made a mistake of not going, but for a person who never buys full price digital movies.
Watched this tonight for my now 8 year olds birthday. Loved it, it was so beautiful!
