    Glad you found that meat shop. We recently picked up our 1/2 cow, as I've mentioned previously, and it ends up, with processing, about $8-9 lb and we're set for maybe 8 months for the two of us. There are many cuts of roasts, steaks, tons of ground beef, etc. Maybe you can find a local farmer somewhere; I know SC must have some not too far from you, but I'm sure you've already looked for one. The problem for me is that I don't really enjoy steak unless it's sirloin steaks or those tender filets, something about the texture of steak in general turns me off, have to cut off the excess fat as well. If I have to chew it much, it turns me off; these steaks are super tender and the taste is awesome, but some still have what I call that "scritchy" texture when I chew (my made up word, can't think of another). I prefer roasts we can crock pot, having a rump roast today. We had NY strip steak yesterday but I could only eat a few bites and gave the rest to my husband. We had prime rib roast for the first time in our lives-the cow came with several of those-and we loved that. We keep forgetting to check out a local meat guy just down the street because he's only open part of Friday and Saturday and we get involved in homestead chores and such, but we have to see what he has soon. The best thing about carnivore is definitely the simplicity. My husband says it's boring, but he needs it even more than I do so he better suck it up, LOL. A local, family owned meat shop is excellent! Let us know when you get that exotic meat! ~Cynthia

      Wow! Nice score! As fir your hubby thinking it's boring. Well it can be, but eventually it won't be. On the 4th, cook up a bunch of meat on the grill and make some heavenly eggs😍 Eventually he won't think it's so boring, the food will no longer be the center of his existence. Y'all got this! Tell him to keep moving forward👍

    That was a GOOD DEAL, all that for 66.00! And supporting Mom & Pop businesses!! Good deal Cassie! The scenery was beautiful along the way! I miss that living in a big city. I NEED trees!! You're VERY BLESSED!!
    All that egg left stuck in the skillet messed with my OCD!! LOL. Im thinking...'how does she get it out of there if you can't wash cast iron?'. I didn't know about cast iron and I washed my friend's skillet. She literally YELLED at me! Screamed at me! "It took me YEARS to season THAT PAN." Made me feel 2 inches tall! How I make my bacon and eggs (in a non stick skillet! Lol) I put 6 slices of Wright's thick sliced 🥓 in the pan. And I carefully crack my eggs into a bowl. (5-6) Then I drain most of the grease, then pour the eggs into the pan, I pull back the whites so they get cooked, I like my yolks runny. Then I slide them all out of the pan. A "good" day, the yolks dont break! After 8 months of it, Ineeded a break. I DO need to get back since Ive GAINED 20 lbs and had to increase my diabetic medicine again. Ugh. God bless you sweet lady!!❤❤❤❤

    • @CarnivoreQuest
      @CarnivoreQuest  16 днів тому +1

      I have a smaller pan I use that doesn't stick as much, but I was all in at that time. 🤣 Cast iron is easy to clean, I'm sure your friend is a bit particular about their pans. I'm sorry they made you feel that way.
      Jump on in the water is warm🥰

Use to eat alligator at a local Cajun restaurant, but would have to learn how to cook it, if I can find any. Of course by then, I'm sure you will be sharing your great recipe for it!! Love your cooking videos, and ALL the others!! You have a great cameraman!! God bless you and Larry and little Larry for all you do to keep me encouraged!! Love you all!! ❤🤗🙏🙏

    I just dont do well with dairy...which for me was eggs. I dont lose weight which is a large part of my goal.

    • @RV-there-Yet
      @RV-there-Yet 16 днів тому

      So you can tolerate eggs, but not dairy? I love egg yolks, but still have an aversion to the whites, unless I cook them super crispy & browned, or scrambled up w/the yolks. As for dairy, I seem to do fine w/cream/yogurt/butter & just a little cheese.
      *As for weight loss, I'm grateful I had so many other benefits from eating like this those first couple years, since I lost almost zero weight. My body clearly had more internal healing to do than I was aware of, & that was priority. I stuck with it, & eventually dropped 30lbs, though I still have another 20 or so to go, imho. I hear you on that~ I started for weight loss, but stay with it for all the other benefits.

  • @RV-there-Yet
    @RV-there-Yet 16 днів тому

    Hmmm...I'm gonna guess Larry edited this one, just a feeling~ considering the music insertions=) Nice job Larry, as always
    🥓🥓My favorite way to cook bacon is about 3-5lbs at a time, halved slices or chopped, all in one batch in my "CrockPot" brand Multi Cooker~ which is just like an Instant Pot, only better imho. Plus, I bought it nearly new at a neighborhood fundraiser auction for $2 whole dollars! Brought it home, looked it up online to educate myself, discovered there had been a recall on the lid (main component of the unit) & was sent a brand new unit from the company~ woohoo!! Anyhow, absolutely LOVE cooking bacon in it on "sear" fucntion, lid off, because there is no splatter/no burned body parts/no mess of any kind. It takes about 20 minutes of stirring every 3-5 mins for regular bacon, about 30mins for a few lbs of thick sliced bacon.
    🍳As for eggs, I usually cook 1 or 2 dozen at a time in the bacon fat after it's done~ either fried or scrambled. I can also cook up to 4 dozen hardboiled eggs in this Multi Cooker, using the pressure cooker function. We like semi-soft yolks, so it's low pressure for 4 mins, or high pressure for 2 minutes~perfect, easy to peel eggs every time.🥚
    Really enjoyed the post Cassie, & good little meat haul too. Thanks for sharing your day w/us sweet girlSammie in AZ

    Lucky you that your meat market doesn’t add sugar/dextrose to the sausage. Our local meat market does, I asked if I could get some without it and they said no they always add the seasonings packets which include it and that’s that. Grrr Actually a lot of their meats have added dextrose/sugar WHY?!? I asked them and they all looked like a deer in headlights and acted like there was something wrong with me

      You can find the Jimmy Dean sausage clone recipe online, I buy ground pork and add the seasoning myself, that way you can leave out whatever you don’t want in there.
