    Superb update Chris and Ella! I enjoy these updates so please keep them coming when you can. Funny thing is I think your twin brother is also making a video series as this cropped into my feed by these algorithm thingy ma jigs. Looks just like you and also had a flood…entitled “ Disaster Part 2 (deux for you Chris now you are en francais) - you should check it out ! Best of luck with the renovations !

      @@lewe1882 Thanks Lewe. Ela says thanks too. I’d love to see the other flood video. It’s not uncommon to have water issues in old houses. It was a huge relief to get that sorted so quickly. I had visions of the ceiling coming down. C

    Can't wait for more build vids. Congrats on the move. I recently moved to a French speaking part of the world as well (Montreal) and have been inspired - in part by your videos - to take some of my cheaper guitars and customize them. Boring cherry Epiphone SG soon to become something more eye-catching.

    • @chrisreynoldsguitarmaking
      @chrisreynoldsguitarmaking  3 місяці тому

      @@greghowley3250 my sons had one of those. They are ok but I often find the SG to be poorly balanced. Neck dive is so difficult to tolerate. I’m always careful to plan my wood carefully to avoid that issue. Keep me posted on your build. C

    You have 'something' sir. I don't know what it is and I doubt it's catching, but it means that you are 'watchable' - even your wee updates are good to watch - can we have more whilst you decant your life in France please? I love France and I can't think of anything more inspirational than building guitars in France, although my focus would probably be acoustic. My missus still has a flame inside (I must stop setting her alight) for moving overseas - probably France - but we are heel-dragging so I don't know. Keep going Chris, good luck, but keep up the updates - I think you can see from comments that peeps are behind you!

      @@carlyoung5035 Thanks Carl. I’m overdue a video. I can see my subscribers falling a little. It’s a lot at my age. Apart from all the building and fixing, there is so much involved in decanting your life to another country. I’m just dog tired at the end of every day. I’ll try and cobble an update soon. I have a hankering for a guitar build. Something different I think. I’m thinking it scratch build time.

    Wonderful update sir! I could literally watch you do this type of video all day long! So exciting for you all! Also, thanks for the shop tour! I enjoy seeing the transformation and I am sure that you will appreciate the documentation many years down the road. Also, while you were demolishing the sink, I was like, "Oh please tell me he has hearing protection on!" (I am an audiologist by training), and score one for the home team, you DID! Good on you sir! Congratulations and taste all the wines!

    Chris, we recently had a hurricane run course through Houston earlier this month. Unfortunately it forced us to remove our largest pine tree. I kept two huge chunks of the base of the trunk to cut into slabs and eventually make into a guitar. Wish I could pick your brain on things but I think I’ve got a few years to wait yet.

    • @chrisreynoldsguitarmaking
      @chrisreynoldsguitarmaking  2 місяці тому +1

      @@MrGibsn1960 I’m sorry to hear of your plight. Pine is generally not a great wood to build electric guitar necks out of. But if it’s dense and stable you can make a body or two from it. I’ve seen some successful builds using harder specimens. Spruce is used extensively in acoustic guitar tops but it’s generally very high grade spruce which is a variation of pine. Spruce has individual needles that attach directly to the branch rather than in finger like clusters. To be honest. I would be realistic about what you can use in guitar making.

      @@chrisreynoldsguitarmaking yeah, I’m not sure what it’ll become over time. It was a little over 40 years old with a pretty tight grain/ring structure. My wife was upset about losing the tree so I wanted to do something with it that would be kinda cool and unique. At worst, it’ll become a jewelry box. Haha
