It’s absolutely nuts that they didn’t think to use this on the division bell. This whole piece could have remained buried for all time if it weren’t for the endless river.
The early plans for the new album (Division Bell) were for a double LP with a whole section of instrumentals including this Allons-Y... by the way this would have allowed to release the extended versions of all the songs included in the original single album then released.
+Heki Kahni Nope pretty much all of Roger's solo albums are utter crap, and so is the final cut which is pretty much only worked on by Roger. Compared that to On a Island and the Division bell for example, which had no Roger obviously. Basically Roger needed Gilmour more than the other way around.
They should have kept the entire song in the album. Instead they cut it in two and got rid of the middle part. This was the best song in the record. Damn it!! 😲😠
David Gilmour has a long love story with delay and tap tempo ever since the times of Animals and his first solo album. For The Wall's Run Like Hell he actually used not just one pedal but two delays (two tap tempos combined) to deliver that thrilling result. I consider him one of the first masters of that effect, apart from many other ones. To give just a few examples: He used delay back in 1972 for The Travel Section (the enjoyable live jam that was played when On The Run didn't exist, before the release of The Dark Side of The Moon), on other tracks from The Wall like Another Brick in the Wall parts 1 & 3, The Happiest Days of Our Lives, on Short and Sweet from his first LP, on Blue Light from his second solo LP About Face, on Give Blood (music written by David for Pete Townsend), on Take it Back from The Division Bell. We can remember Meedle and the throbbing bass that commences One of these days, and David's repetitive echoing guitar at the second half of Echoes going Em, Bm, G, A, in harmony with Richard Wright's keyboard. David Gilmour has used delay very often and with great knowledge of it, creating cool, nearly sci-fi atmospheres. Pink Floyd, among other experimental artists, are responsible for the modernization of popular music, their influence over the then forthcoming musical industry is beyond their music, and is pretty underrated. Their use of sound, their musical experiments, their use of new tools and equipment, their live sets, Roger Waters' lyrics and conceptual vision to communicate ideas. They, among other bands, expanded the frontiers of popular music to new boundaries, their contribution is immense.
there was no tap tempo in the 70's. that didnt come around in compact pedal form until the late 90's. he didnt use delay on Animals or his first solo album either. he had the Binson Echorec (drum delay) all the way up to 1976. he started touring with the rackmount MXR 113 in '77 and it was first used in the studio on The Wall.
I love the split of pt1 and 2 on the album with the goosebump inducing Autumn '68 in the middle. The bridges are a bit Knight Rideresque for me, especially since I'm child of the '80s!
I LIKE this tune!! It has a little bit of shades of "Run Like Hell" to it. I think they should have added words to it instead of keeping it as an instrumental The arrangement of the song, almost SOUNDS like it SHOULD have LYRICS to it and it doesn't. It's kind of COOL though how they revealed just the Music by Itself, though. ;)
A nearly sci-fi theme that sounds and feels so human, I love you so much, masters, and when an idea is so simple ( basically C, Dm, G, Am) but beautiful no need for a great display of virtuosity and, in this case no guitar solo needed either,
I would like to see more videos like this ... But closer hehehe. Where is the david Gilmour cam??? ah?... Really this is a gift... Thanks David, Guy, Nick, Richard and others.
Ancora mi chiedo perché Allons-Y sia stata poi tagliata così in The Endless River.. Mentre una versione tagliata e rielaborata di Nervana non potesse finire nell edizione semplice di The Endless River... Side 2 o 4.

Not saying that I know any better than David Gilmour, but I think some of the pieces on Endless River would've benefited from vocals. I mean this is neat and all, but yeah.
@@zarusoba69 Remember on The Wall concerts Nick had another drummer on stage. He also had additional percussionist on the 88 and 94 concerts. I know on The Wall concerts they opened with the seregate band with the other drummer but he played along with Nick during the rest of the show. The Allman Brother's used 2 drummers also.
Since YT doesn't support Master Studio aka 24 bit I am curious. Where did you get a 24 bit copy of the album from? I am very keen on getting hold on one myself. Thank you in advance!
willdau It is from Blu-Ray. There is also 5.1 version of the album. So source was 96kHz/24Bit and I added normalization of the volume. But I am not sure what quality UA-cam maintained after upload.
Zuriah Heep Thank you for the response! Unfortunetly, YT only supports AAC up til 320 kbps (mp3-format). YT sadly doesn't support neither FLAC in 16 bit or studio master rips at 24 bit. (Imagine how much stress that would put on their servers) :D

Then you are 1 among a very VERY small amount of people who see beyond what others see... There are more to these videos then meets the eyes, ears and mind. you will notice more, granted you have an acute eye for symbology.... for example: 1. Hidden drummer in small room wearing freemason symbol shirt 2. Cannot see hidden drummers face or hear his beats, though other members are reacting to his change to beats, representing the hidden hand behind the act ordering the change 3. Richard Wright (keyboard) appears to be visually communicating with the guitarists at some points, particularly when both place their headsets over their eyes 4. Hidden drummer appears to continue to silently play when everyone is done (the hidden hand is always playing) 5. Alons-y means lets go in french... The last album before Richard Wright left the band The timestamps and video recording clock times just before returning to zero have correlation and no doubt meaning: 1st, 1:20 - 1:08:20 2nd, 2:40 - 1:20:03 3rd, 3:60 - 1:20:03 4th, 5:20 - 1:20:03 So you can understand a little about the symbolic meaning: The Freemasons know about sacred geometry and understand the significance of the numbers 3, 6 & 9... Something also the likes of Nicola Tesla knew... The time stamps are exactly 1:20 apart... 1+2=3 (3 is the number of wisdom/creation) The video clock times calculate as: 1st: 1+8+2=11 2nd: 1+2+3=6 3rd: 1+2+3=6 4th: 1+2+3=6 Again... another 666 reference in their music LOL... but these numbers are significant in meaning in ways which most people will never have the ability to comprehend but in a nut shell... 11 ( number of the twins) represents natures duality 666 is complete balance between 3 and 9. Perfect balance is essentially hell as without the extremes between ballance everything would cease to exist e.g hot/cold, light/dark... There is way more to it that's relevant such as the album title but it's requires more than words to explain... Have fun LOL
@@lisalines4413 Nick Mason just had another drummer. The video is meant to show the recording of the original personnel, not the auxiliary drummer. Rick communicates with David because they are very old friends and have a certain magic. Rick only left the band once, back in '78. He died in 2008. The reason why the tenths only go up to 2 is that they don't show fractions of a second, they show frames. The frames go up to 24, then the second counter increases and the frame counter goes back to 0. Recording in 24 frames per second is unusual, but it is not uncommon, especially in the early 90s.
