But perhaps you didn't had to remove the neck because at 16:35 you can see a clear line in the black paint around the body that indicates the top.

Great comparison and some tasty playing there too. By the way what was that nice background track being played when the MJ neck was being removed? Thank you for all you do.
In my personal experience, 30+ years playing, 20 of those as a prpfessional player: Japan made is always better than USA built...and cheaper. They just have that tradition in wood work that it is just unparalleled in the world.
If the wood being a veneer bothers anyone, go watch Jim Lill's findings on where electric guitar tone comes from (spoiler alert it is definitively not the wood!) However Jim does not state an opinion on any of his testing, he lets you take away what you will from the results.
I recommend ''Physik der Elektrogitarre'' by Prof. Dr. Manfred Zollner, about the whole ''toanewood'' debatte. Sadly, it's only available in German atm, but there will be an english translation in the future.
Charvel USA models are custom made to order, which makes them way too expensive. Charvel's commercial lineups since the beginning was always produced in Japan

The neck on the USA model is one of the best feeling I've used on any electric guitar.
It’s incredible, agreed! I thought nothing would ever beat my Majesty in terms of feel/ease of playing, but 80% of the time I pick up the Govan because it’s just amazing to play
I am really wanting the Japanese version. I have a EBMM Majesty as well but my local story got one of these Japanese models and I am just in love with that guitar.
Same feeling for me: the fretboard is just mind blowing , the best ever ❤❤❤
Great comparison and some tasty playing there too. By the way what was that nice background track being played when the MJ neck was being removed? Thank you for all you do.
Thanks a lot - it's a jamtrack from JTC.
Thank you so much for the review. 🙏🏼
I subscribed to your channel because you do great content!
Hava a wonderful day!
Thanks a lot for the positive feedback - you're welcome!
The USA model is 1000€ more expensive than the MJ - a pricey guitar already. Is it worth the difference?
If you love high end guitars I would say yes. However, the difference in tone is not worth that money.
In my personal experience, 30+ years playing, 20 of those as a prpfessional player: Japan made is always better than USA built...and cheaper. They just have that tradition in wood work that it is just unparalleled in the world.
Many thanks for your comment - personally I think it depends on, I have some very good guitars which are made in USA...
If the wood being a veneer bothers anyone, go watch Jim Lill's findings on where electric guitar tone comes from (spoiler alert it is definitively not the wood!) However Jim does not state an opinion on any of his testing, he lets you take away what you will from the results.
To me it's less because of the sound, it's more because of the value in that price range - using a veneer is a bit questionable.
I recommend ''Physik der Elektrogitarre'' by Prof. Dr. Manfred Zollner, about the whole ''toanewood'' debatte.
Sadly, it's only available in German atm, but there will be an english translation in the future.
Thank you so much for this vídeo 🙏
Many thanks for your positive feedback 😎👍
NIce comparison
Charvel USA models are custom made to order, which makes them way too expensive. Charvel's commercial lineups since the beginning was always produced in Japan
Incorrect sir. They have their USA select guitars and then they have USA Custom shop guitars.
Thank you for the comparison! Looks like they will be selling more than a few of the MJ's. If it's not too much trouble, would you go buy an ash model USA for further study??? 😁 Cheers!
thats overkill haha
LOL, I think I won't do this in the near future but who knows...
Nice video-are you able to adjust the bridge pickup height or saddle height on the US model?
Thanks for your comment - yes you can.
Just now came across this brotha 💯 awesome 👍 and your playing skill is also pretty damn good as well!! From Texas, Greetings 👍
Thanks so much, mate 🙏😎🎸
I think the Japan version sounds dull, the USA version has much much more twang and brightness, which when playing clean I know it's coming from the body or better said the total quality of the guitar is just much better imo.
I’m just the reverse. I think the maple top sounds screechy on the US model. Ash is warmer but has enough bite
The MJ seems to have more clarity, but the tone of the USA is much more warm and rich.
Agree, USA sounds fuller.
Charvel (Guthrie Govan) forgot to provide the Tremolo Locking Bridge with set screws to fix the octave....!!!!
Don't think so - you can adjust intonation with the screws in front of the bridge saddles.
@@RockGuitarVibes, I did that, do I have to move it manualy? that cannot be done!!! I'm missing a screw system like my fender stratocaster!
@@jaapvanwageningen9931 Yes, if the pitch is too low you have to move the saddle to the direction of the headstock. It's also recommended to loosen the string before adjusting the saddle.
@@RockGuitarVibes- Thanks, I've been doing that way of ajusting for about 50 years, but mis finetuning of my stratocaster!
@@jaapvanwageningen9931 OK, I can understand that - but it is what it is 😉
is there a raisin that can talk to squirrels in a way that is both moving and absurd?
Is this poetry?
@@RockGuitarVibes its whatever you want it to be.
6.49 you scratched the back surface of the american one
True, well observed! Luckily it's my own guitar which already has some dings and other scratches 🙂
Prefiero la modelo Suhr de GG. Lo cierto es que la japonesa parece de menor calidad por una diferencia de precio que no es excesiva.
I also own a GG Suhr model - love it too 😎🎸
Excellent video. Und now ve dance!
Right-handed people are lucky to have choices. I'm always sad that I don't.
That's true - unfortunately...
I would love to own this guitar ♥️👍🏻
Guthrie did mention that the top is just a veneer for looks only
nice refyou...
Thanks a lot mate 🙏😎🎸
No matter the version someone has, there is one thing for certain. They're not going to play like Guthrie Govan. That's guaranteed.😂
are u indian? cuz u sound like indian
No, I'm german - still trying to improve my accent, but guitar playing has higher priority...🎸
This german english...
...is what it is 😉
That Guthrie model is mega expensive.
Well. it's not cheap that's right - I think made in Japan has it's price...
Love your channel ❤I wish I could play like you! I just got the Japan model other day 😊
Thanks a lot, mate 🙏😎🎸
