- Matt Reeves is interviewed by Scott Davis for DC Comics' The Batman at the BFI Imax. The film stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Colin Farrell as The Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. The film also stars John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, and Jayme Lawson and was directed by Matt Reeves.
Plot: Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies - Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) - amongst the city's corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham's elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World's Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator's plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
The Batman will be released nationwide on 4th March 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

@@anas-432 Snyder planned 5 movies arc for superman. His universe was dependent on the story of superman rather than Batman. Batman in The Batman isn't an after thought like in the snyderverse.....tho whatever Snyder did it was and let's hope possibly will be awesome

I hope this is The Batman Movie we've all Been waiting for my whole life.. I hope he's able to move agile in the suit and look realistic unlike Keaton and Bale. Batfleck was badass

The Batman symbol on the suit being a function knife is fucking awesome! It's so reassuring to see how much care and attention Matt has put into making the movie.
We might actually see a great Batman movie in the first time in a decade. I’m glad he had full control over his movie and didn’t let any executives interfere.
The knife being the bat symbol is definitely unique! Looks like Matt likes the fans theory of it being a gun that killed Bruce’s parents but it having a tactical use is better. This Will take a cinematic Batman moment to the next level when we get to see it being taken out of his chest and used. The way the grapple gun folds and slides under his gauntlet is tight as hell already.
Agreed, in fact it even makes more sense since Batman has a known hate for guns so he wouldn't use it to create an emblem that's meant to induce fear in criminals that use such a weapon, and it goes back to the comics where the bat logo was actually a protective metal piece that draws criminals to shoot at it.
Matt Reeves is an absolute genius. We've never seen a Batman director before who has such a clear passion and is so inspired by the character's rich source material and all the lore and mythology that comes with it. I grow more and more confident with each interview that he's going to deliver us with the definitive live-action Batman movie.

Originally Matt walked away from the studio and what they wanted to do because Matt had a vision for what he wanted to do and was passionate with that vision and told them good luck but that’s not where I wanted to go! Then they seeked him out and brought him back and said ok let’s go and do your vision and now the rest is history!
u meant he saw affleck 's script and said he cant do that movie ( lets be real affleck is unsalvageable with a scrawny pimp cringelord leto as the arch enemy "). so he said he has his own vision . then WB realized he understand the character better after listening to him then rest is history
That's not necessarily how it went down. In 2014, it was announced that Ben Affleck would be directing, writing and starring in his own standalone Batman film. Some time later he decided to step down as director but still planned to star in the film, so they began searching for a new director and in came Matt Reeves. When Matt read a version of Affleck's script, he felt it wasn't the story he truly wanted to tell so after Ben Affleck's departure from the project entirely, Matt took full control of the film. Instead of trying to tie the character into the larger universe of the DCEU (like originally planned) and potentially missing the mark, he decided to start from scratch in order to really hone in on who the Batman is as a character. He never walked away from the studio. He said he tried to turn them down initially when they approached him with a pre-written script because it wasn't a story he felt qualified to tell and if he was going to direct, he wanted to tell the story his way. Warner Bros always had confidence in him. That's why they allowed him to do whatever he wanted to the script.

He wanted to write it in a way that the actor can feel connected to the character and to make it more realistic so the actors can play their characters better. So, he chose robert pattinson after watching his movie Good Times, a movie that was written for robert pattinson after he asked the directors if they could write it. robert was the brain behind the movie.

@harrisonkelm1846 If actors can't feel at least a tiny bit of connection between themselves and their characters, it becomes hard for them to play it. And matt kind of took the inspiration from robert's personality. So The Batman was a bit of both robert and Batman
currently the most unimaginitive man in hollywood.
This Batman was way too tactical. Should have kept the suit more in the bat side. Hopefully they do this in the next iteration of Batman
Good movie, the only part hard to swallow is right after a c4 explosion right in from of him let him unconscious for only god knows and no one removes his mask.
First responder would have remove the mask, the upper part of the suit to give him medical assistance. Second why to take him to the police department instead of an hospital is beyond my comprehension.
I know is a superhero movie but this is supposed to be grounded in reality.
