I've finally come full circle. I had to do a swap for my mother board from the old Omen mother board. I came back to your video and watched it for a tutorial. I have finally completely moved on from all of my Omen parts and have a fully customized PC. Thank you for your videos throughout the years as I used them as reference for how to swap out new parts.
Went on a binge of a LOT of your videos after watching my first one. Managed to get the Omen 25L with the 3070 card and really appreciate your advice since I've never really swapped anything out of any desktops I've had in the past. Love the videos!
Hey guys! Thank you for watching the videos and your support! Once again, I am sorry that this tutorial is not for swapping a new board into the Omen case, but everything in the tutorial applies to swapping a new board into the Omen, only thing is you'll be using a Micro ATX board! PLEASE SEE THE DESCRIPTION AS I HAVE OUTLINED THE WHOLE PROCEDURE THERE! Here are the links for everything I used: Amazon Affiliate Links ( Helps support the channel! ): AORUS Elite X570 Motherboard: amzn.to/3yu7Kjm ( AMD CPU ) Crucial Ballistix RAM: amzn.to/3ytFw87 ( x2 for 32GB ) Antech PSU Extensions: amzn.to/2RDoHHj ( Black ) WD Blue 2.5" SSD: amzn.to/3yvw0kX ( 2TB ) WD Black m.2 NVME drive: amzn.to/3c0yONF ( 1TB ) Thermal Grizzly Thermal Paste Spatula: amzn.to/3f6sjL6 ( 3 Pack ) As far as results go: If you saw my case swap video where I transferred the Omen motherboard over, my temperatures pretty much stayed the same. My CPU temps at idle are anywhere from 30-40c, gaming temps between 45-60c and render temps are 70-78c. My GPU stays around 55-65c while gaming as well! The big improvements I found are with my 3600mhz RAM and using an SSD for my "backup drive". Editing videos is MUCH quicker and the PC feels more responsive. It's also really nice to use the BIOS to OC and make completely custom fan curves ( FOR EACH FAN HEADER!! ). Really happy with the results and I think the builds looks fantastic! Once again you deliver another phenomenal tutorial Dan. This time you show everyone how to swap out a motherboard. Once again, it is another easy to follow, step by step tutorial on how to do the entire job flawlessly, from start to finish. You include everything that is needed to perform this task in the very beginning of the tutorial which helps everybody out tremendously. Thank you Dan for all you do for this amazing community. We all appreciate all you do for us! I hope you and your family are well. Say hello to your cats for me. This video of yours was also uploaded on my father's 74th birthday. Thanks again and always look forward to your next video. Always grateful my friend.
You’ve inspired me to upgrade my omen and you also helped me with many problems I had with my omen. I hope your happy with your new case and motherboard upgrade
That’s awesome to hear! I’m glad everything is working out for you with your Omen! My Omen treated me super well for the year that I had it, never had any problems and it was a fantastic PC. Being a PC enthusiast, it’s hard not to want to upgrade and upgrade. I am very happy with my new machine, but once I can find a few parts, I can revive the Omen 😎
@@DanKamYouKnow Hiii, I'm thinking on buying the 25L with the i7 11700, my question is if the one you have with the Ryzen has any cooling problems and if you know if there could be cooling problems with the i7 one
Most of the newer Omens have been under-volted to stay much cooler. Even if it does run a bit warm, the temps are usually pretty safe. Do you know if the PC comes water cooled or air cooled?
That’s not necessarily true. It depends on what processor the Omen comes with and usually the 10700K’s, had a 120mm AIO, so I’m not sure if the 11700 does as well. I would monitor your temps and see where you’re at, but usually they run in the 70-78c range, which is completely safe.
another great video, I just swapped my cpu cooler today with the bequite dark rock pro 4 and upgraded the case awhile back with the coolermaster td500. my next upgrade will be the power supply and the motherboard in the near future. keep up the good work :)
You're the fooking man, Dan! I thought I was going to have to re-purchase Windows after I do a complete swap of my HP Omen. Thanks so much for all your videos, you've helped immensely!
Thanks so much Miguel! Appreciate your support for the channel! Once I find a few parts, the Omen will be revived. Hard part is going to be getting a graphics card to replace the RX5700 ( so I can put it back the Omen )
Definitely not the message I want to get across by changing all the components. My Omen ran fantastic, it’s just the PC enthusiast in me wants to change and upgrades parts. I’ll be making a video soon on my final thoughts about swapping components and the Omen 👍🏻
The Omen motherboard looks pathetic, seems the only reason people are buying these machines is to grab the GPU and perhaps the CPU. Everything else is eWaste.
They’re still a completely usable PC and great for people that are just getting into PC’s or don’t want to build. Unfortunately they are pretty limiting but they’re a great introduction to new users or casuals.
@@DanKamYouKnow yes, but not as an enthusiast/gaming pc as its marketed. At the very least they could have given the case better ventilation, that something that wouldn't have added any cost to HP... well maybe the cost of 1 extra fan...
This is the most in-depth video I found. My question is what about keeping all the data from current drives? I want to fresh install windows but keep my data
That MB us gonna be waay better in the future. You are gonna be able to open up the bios and everything and who knows your cpu might have better performance.
I like so much that I discover your channel so early and see you grow like this, you are trully a natural, so funnay that this is not an omen anymore XD
That’s the best think you could do for those model Omens is a case swap, that GPU and CPU need as much airflow as possible. Glad it worked out for you 🙌🏻
I honestly don’t think so. Most motherboards require a BIOS flash to be able to work with a 5xxx series AMP CPU, and there’s no way to access the BIOS on a Moria 3 to do the flash. Not sure how that would work. If you’re going with a Zen3 chip, you may as well look at a new motherboard.
hey Dan, I bought a 25L omen gaming PC earlier this year and I've come across the problem that its cooling capabilities are garbage. it came with a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 and I noticed yours is obviously not that. I was wondering what kind of GPU could I upgrade too that maybe has an inbuilt fan or just can generally process the same level of graphics at a lower temperature and how much that could work or if you recommend I completely change the case like you did in order for more airflow. I really want to be able to play Mount and Blade Bannerlord, but at the moment, even with 2 added 120mm fans, one on bottom and one on top, it still runs upwards of 72-75 for both cpu and gpu on literally the lowest graphics. If I go from "very low" to just "low" the GPU temps easily and consistently sit over 80 maxing out at 84 (temps are all in Celsius). I have the specs for my PC and would love to share with you.
Hey Michael! Well, there are a few things you can do. You can use MSI Afterburner to set a custom fan curve for your GPU fan on your 2060. This will result in more noise form the GPU fan but lower temps down a bit. I dropped my temps by 5-10c on the GPU with settings a custom fan curve. You could upgrade the GPU but the graphics card market right now is absolutely horrible. Finding ANY graphics card at a decent price is almost impossible. I would try MSI Afterburner first and see how it works for you: ua-cam.com/video/X5xuJCt7vf0/v-deo.html Your fan curve WILL look different than mine because your GPU is different. Experiment with the curve and what works best for you.
I did a full case and b550 and I can't get the omen stuff off the new mobo and case stuff. Do u know how to get the old omen stuff off the new stuff I used the same ram m.2 boot drive I'm not computer savvy lol stuff off the new stuff.
Thanks for the tutorial, I'm hoping to replace my Omen 30l Moriah 3 mobo with a b650m board. What is your advice for the RGB controller and the Wi-Fi card... should I remove them? You've kept yours in your other video when you migrated over to the new case so I'm wondering...
Not to be a critic but at lowes if you have one around you for 11 dollars craftsman sells pop up screw holders and they help big time with keeping your screws in one place and it’s a 2 pack helped me big time since I tend to accidentally knock stuff around by accident and have screws drop on the griund
Lol! There was nothing wrong with my Omen ( although RAM and the locked BIOS were pretty annoying ) but, as a PC enthusiast; it was time to upgrade and start building my own. Which is originally what I was going to do right before I bought the Omen, but COVID screwed up getting certain parts.
I’ve always heard it’s not good to spread thermal paste because it can introduce micro air bubbles and cause cooling inefficiency. Better to put small amount of paste in center and let thermal block surface spread it evenly when tightened down.
Hey Dan, thanks for this great tutorial, it makes things waaaay more simple in my head. I am thinking about getting rid of this dirty omen motherboard (probably replacing it by a MSI MPG B550 gaming plus) and I was wondering : Is it mandatory to reinstall windows, or since im keeping the same SSD is it okay to just plug it on the new motherboard ? Thanks :3
Hey Dan! I have been watching all of your videos and love your channel! At this point, I think you have talked me into buying a 25L I found a good deal on with 64GB Ram, i9 10900, RTX3070, and 2TB m.2. That said, your videos have shown me that I will probably need to upgrade the case and cooler and I have factored that into the price and it still makes sense over a NZXT pre-built performance wise. I also have a 750W Gold I can swap out if need be. My question is this, if you were starting over, would you just have bought a NZXT pre-built for a couple hundred more? Also, what big benefit do you get out of swapping this mobo? I am a bit of a noob and don't quite understand what the big benefit it between the Omen board and a different board aside from a bit more customization in the bios. Can you elaborate? Thanks!!
Omen motherboards are very limited as far as settings adjustments goes. Including power options / XMP ( memory speeds for aftermarket RAM ) / Overclocking & under-volting / BIOS adjustments which include SO many different settings / fan curves and adjustments / RGB headers ( Omen has NONE ) / More m2 slots for storage depending upon the board. If the pricing is better on the NZXT model, then I would probably go for that one. It will have better thermals and they probably don't have restrictions on the motherboard, but that I am not 100% sure. OR you could go with the Omen and eventually do a case swap, which would dramatically lower temps. Hope this helps
Hey Dan, do I have to reset my pc or have a usb with windows installed and enter bios and download windows trough there? Im planing on replacing cpu, gpu, and mobo
@@DanKamYouKnow dude your videos have been a HUGE help in my decision to go for a 30l. While not as adventurous as you, I followed your video and removed the top bracket and installed a 120mm noctua exhaust up there. Thanks for all your hard work!
Thanks dude and I’m glad my videos helped you out! Once I get a new GPU for my new machine, I’m going to swap my current GPU back into the Omen and revive it! 😎
Hey there, I have a question I’ve been stumped on for a few weeks. I purchased an omen 25L two years ago. Last year I pulled the 3070 that came with it and the 5600x CPU and the ssd. I gave my buddy the old omen case and motherboard, he purchased a new graphics card, ssd and cpu. Now can’t boot the computer. With it being a omen motherboard, is there a way I can re download the omen software or am I able to download windows 10 or 11 on that omen motherboard? If so how?? Thank you
Hey Dan If I’m using my existing ssd do I need to download windows or can I keep my existing os? Also where can I find what drivers I need to download on the usb, I really don’t know what drivers are where’s a good place to get info on it? Thanks bud your videos have really helped on my pc journey
Hey thanks for posting the video. I am curious, will it break HP's warranty if I were to swap out the Motherboard and power supply like you do? I love this PC, it is just the lack of USB ports make it a little bit inconvenient at times.
Pretty much an mod will break the warranty, and swapping out the motherboard definitely will. HP requires the PC to be in stock form if any warranty work is to be done. You COULD revert it back to stock before trying to claim warranty work, so it’s up to you.
Thanks for this. Got a new case, mobo, and power supply. Time to move everything over. Will I be able to just move my m.2 and hdd over to the new build and have windows on there? Or is there more I should do.
I just want to say thank you for all these videos and all your replies. I managed to fully assemble my first pc with the help of some of my omen parts. I am in the process of cable management but tested everything out and it works like a dream!! Thank you so much! Your channel deserves so many more subscribers!!
You’re welcome and I’m glad your build came out great!! It can be nerve racking on that first boot up! Thank you for your kind words! The channel is still growing and growing at a great rate so I’m just going to keep on pushing! 👍🏻😎
Heya, I saw in your description that I am able to use my boot drive on my new motherboard. So I’m guessing it is fine to just install it onto my new motherboard and just start up the computer? Thanks!
Hey Reggie!! So, the one I currently has a cheap one from Amazon, so I’d recommend something like this: amzn.to/3wNgu4S amzn.to/3B47laF amzn.to/3AC0V0R All of these say they support up to 32”
Hi Dan! You are the man!! Your videos are really helping me these days!! I have a question by the way. After seeing you vids, I am plaining on swapping my 10700K/RTX 3070 25L to a NZXT CASE, ASUS Z490 MOTHER BOARD, NZXT Kraken WATER COOLER and use the rest of the parts from my 25l. Do you think it is possible? Are there any concerns? (I know I need a new OS too) I would be really grateful if you can give me a piece of advice. Thank you.
Hey!! Yes, that should work out just fine. Just make sure whatever case you are thinking of going with is compatible with the motherboard and cooler you are looking at. Some cases only support Micro ATX, so it won’t fit a Standard ATX case and some cases only support 240mm radiators, so a 280mm won’t fit. It is definitely possible and very similar so what I did. As long as you make sure there are no conflicts between parts, should work out just great! 👍🏻 Thanks for your kind words and support! 🤝
@@DanKamYouKnow Thank you for replying! I really appreciate your opinion. I built my first pc 4 years ago, and that made me to realize compatibility matters a lot.(not only for parts, for RGBs related stuff too these days I guess ) I hope I can achieve this some time soon and report you the final result! Meanwhile, please stay safe and also keep making great vides! I think I'm addicted to your omen related videos XD
Love the videos so much dude you have helped me so much so my next upgrade is to a new motherboard is there any specific one you could recommend I have a Ryzen 5 5600G RTX 3060 with 32gb ram
Sorry for the late reply, didn't get notified of this. Thanks for the comment, happy to help!! I would most likely go with a nice X570 motherboard. Companies like ASUS / MSI / GIGABYTE all make great motherboards 👍
Hi I currently have a HP Omen 30L with an RTX 3060 Single fan and an AMD 5600 GX and wanted to know if I could gut out my components and transfer them into a new case?
Love your HP Omen upgrade tutorials!! What would your current board recommendations be based on current options out there? I am debating about upgrading my prebuilt Omen so starting to review/shop around. :D Also any recommendations for switching out any of the other components? My OMEN is an AMD 3700x/ with a 3070/ 16gb ram/ 512 nvme/ 2 tb hdd/ 500 watt power supply. OR with the current prices of AMD cpus dropping is it worth sticking out for an AMD 5000 series/ waiting for the 7000 series later this year? I've been so indicive over upgrading my current unit (also as i've never built my own PC yet) or just waiting. thanks in advance :D
Another great video Dan! Hey, I got an Intel i5 11400 CPU in my Omen 25L. Although the CPU comes with integrated graphic, HP did another dumb thing - the motherboard has no HDMI port as a secondary display. I use a smaller monitor to display instrument panels when flying in MSFS 2020. However, FPS will take a huge hit if the secondary display is connected to the GPU as well. I suppose if I do a similar swap using a motherboard with a HDMI port, I will be able to take advantage of the integrated graphic from the CPU for the second monitor. According to gamers, this setup will not hurt FPS for the game in the main monitor. Am I on the right track?
I highly doubt using a second monitor for the Instrument Panels in MSFS will use very much FPS. I use a 2nd monitor all the time and FPS does not take any kind of hit
@@DanKamYouKnow My second monitor is a small touch display set up as glass cockpit. When I pop up the MFD and PFD (right ALT key + a click) and move the window to the second monitor, FPS usually drops by 10-15. I heard it is due to bad game architecture which should be fixed in future releases. There is no reason why the pop-ups should degrade the performance by so much. The work-around right now is to use iGPU driven displays. You can search "MSFS | Fix FPS Loss on Pop Out Screens" for a UA-cam video on this topic. :)
@@DanKamYouKnow I am sure HP was thinking who would need the integrated graphics when the PC comes equipped with powerful dedicated RTX GPUs so let us save some money by using a mobo with no display ports. :) It was dumb because I don't think the approach saved any money but it causes users a lot of grievances in the rare occasion when iGPU is needed.
Just got a Omen 30L recently with a 3060TI and Ryzen 7 5800X, was wondering if the omen can potentially be upgraded in years to come. This is my first ever PC and I assumed on starting off with a prebuilt and either making my own and upgrading this one in years to come
Yeah, you could definitely upgrade down the line. You could swap pretty much anything in the PC like I did with my Omen. 5800x / 3060Ti combo should be fantastic though for many years.
Nice video. Did you do any benchmarking to see how much of a difference the new 3600 ram made? I'm guessing it's not worth the money but you may prove me wrong.
@@DanKamYouKnow I realize that. I have seen in most benchmarks that once you are at 3200 it doesn't make much difference to go a little faster and I'd hate to see people waste their money, especially if they have nothing to do with the existing ram they are taking out. I was wondering if your case showed worthwhile improvement as in how much faster you can render videos and such. I mean if you already have 32GB of 3200 is it worth the extra $150 just to upgrade to 3600 in case people think that is the thing to do. I don't think there is a ROI for such an upgrade. Of course the placebo effect kicks in and it feels faster, but then again you dumped an old rotational drive at the same time and I'd bet that was the most of your newfound snappiness. I personally have downclocked my 3600 to 3200 and other than synthetic benchmarking in aida64 showing MB?s speed difference in the real world I didn't notice much at all. Of course the CAS latency makes as much of a difference as the higher Mhz as in if you go from CL16 ram at 3200 and switch to CL18 ram at 3600 which a lot of it is you wont see any difference as they play off from each other. I really do like your videos though don't take this as being critical I was just wondering if you had any use case data that would support someone spending another $150 just to say you are running faster RAM, not that I haven't done this in the past myself :)
There are a TON of benefits to switching to a different motherboard: Higher RAM speeds ( Most boards support 4,000+ ) / Individual fan curves per fan header / RGB headers / USB headers / Type C headers / BIOS adjustments / Overclocking, precision boost over-drive, and core frequency adjustments / multiple m.2 slots depending on the board / multiple PCIe slots depending on the board / Improved chipset cooling / More IO ports on the back / m2 heat sink(s) / 8 or 12 pin EPS connectors for CPU because HP Omen motherboards cap CPU wattage to 65w ( 4 pin ) and aftermarket boards do not have a cap / etc. The video was more of just a tutorial on how to do it and I'm not really sure that I mention that running faster RAM is the only reason to swap motherboards. I do not have any case data on the different RAM speeds but there are a number of good reasons to swap to a new motherboard. Plus, installing NON HP RAM in an Omen causes the latency to be VERY high. My 32GB of 3200mhz RAM in the Omen ran at like CL22 ( So bad ), but now my 3,600 mhz RAM runs at CL16 so it will definitely be faster
Weird question, have you seen any improvements in gaming, like FPS and such, since I saw people with the exact same build and settings on certain games, getting somewhere to 100+ more FPS, also are the RAMs usable on another motherboard, I got the stock 16gb x 2 Hyperx Fury, saw some people saying they may not work on other motherboards 😐.
Well, Omen motherboard do limit some power so you might see some gains when switching motherboards. It mainly opens you up to WAY more settings adjustments with the BIOS. Like overclocking / fan curves / XMP / Voltage changes / etc. The FPS you’ll be getting really depends on the CPU / GPU. Yes, the Omen RAM will work fine in another system.
Hey Dan, I hope you had a good Christmas! I'm looking to swap in an MSI MAG 560 intel mobo. I've already changed the case, but want the flexibility of a better motherboard than the Omen one! A couple of things, you mentioned that you bought a new copy of Windows, was there no way to reuse the copy that came with your Omen? Also, you mentioned that you used a new M.2 boot drive, but did you think about using your old one as well for storage? If you did, would wipe your old drive with the old windows on it before using it with the new motherboard?
Hey Lawrence, thanks! So, I had received different information before making this video and thought the Omen boot drive would not work but it will! You can plug in your Omens m.2 NVME drive ( which has Windows on it ) and it will work just fine. None of the HP apps will work though so you’ll have to manually delete them.
@@DanKamYouKnow Ah lifesaver! I've literally been scouring the internet all day trying to work this out. The major worry I had was the whole new Windows part and having to pay for a new key. As usual, you're Godly knowledge levels have saved my bacon :) Hope to see another video/live stream at some point! It's always an exciting time when a new DanCam vid notification pops up. I hope everything is going well for you man and that you have having a nice Christmas break.
Even if you did have to pay for a new key. You can find reputable vendors that sell Windows Pro keys for like $15-$20. Thank you for your support and I appreciate your kind words! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and are enjoying your break ( If you get one, I have to work but had a couple days off around Christmas )
Hey Dan what is the motherboard you put on the desktop? I’m trying to form an upgrade plan for my 25L. I don’t know anything about desktops and ever since I found your channel I’ve been studying your path. I got the RTX 2070 package and I want to know what would be the better route to take in order to get to the bigger graphics cards like the one you have.
Everything I used is linked in the description. Your 2070 is actually slightly better than my GPU, yours is just the small form factor. You could put pretty much any GPU in the Omen, but it has to be within a certain dimension. If you go back like 5 videos of mine, I list the max dimensions for an Omen case, towards the beginning of the video.
hi. I swapped out the motherboard in my hp omen 40L with a asrock b660m steel ledgend. when you connect the front header pins to the led power connector does it plug in vertically or horizontally? the picture shows pled horizontal ( + - ). vertically it looks like you would plug it in to the +of the pled and the + of the hdd light. thanks. you're videos and tutorials are amazing!
@@DanKamYouKnow the manual shows the + and - pins horizontally. used to them being vertical. i'd hate to trash a new m/b. could it be because it's a 40L case? thanks.
Whatever route you want to go! So many cases out there now a days. I would look up Gamers Nexus’ best cases for 2023 video! See which one you like the best and fits your motherboard size
Sup Dan, on the thumbnail next to your ram sticks is that the c drive that comes with the pc? If so if I upgrade that stick will I have to reinstall windows?
Yes, that is the boot drive. If you upgrade it, you will have to clone that drive onto the new drive that you purchase. It’s actually the next video I will be doing and should be up in about a week or so, still have more to film.
Loving the videos man, so quick question my new PC is currently being fixed so working on the Omen 30L, wanted to know what motherboard would work for me that's not braking the bank, since im already trying to buy a EVGA 750G5 power supply with a NZXT h510 flow case, so just having trouble finding the right motherboard, its all all confusing but I have a RYZEN 7 3600x?? Was maybe thinking the GIGABYTE B450 Aorus Pro would that work?
Thanks! I use a Gigabyte board and have had no issues, think that would be a good choice for you depending on your budget! If going in the Omen case, make sure it’s Micro ATX sized.
@@DanKamYouKnow Thanks man I'm thinking of maybe getting a better MB & swapping out the case for maybe a Nxzt H510 with a 120m aio cooler what do you think, would that would cool or do you prefer maybe the cosair 4000D case for the Ryzen 7 paired with a Evga 3070?
The normal H510 is not that good of a case but the airflow one is not bad. I would personally go with a 240mm or bigger over a 120mm, especially if the case you’re looking at allows it. 4000D is an awesome case as well
Definitely better but there was nothing wrong with my Omen! It’s just the life of a PC enthusiast: always upgrading and changing components. I’m going to have a video coming out next weekend about my final thoughts on the Omen and the whole swap 👍🏻
i have a question, im not sure if you'll even take the time to answer but ive recently bought everything for a swap, i have a new ssd but i was wondering if i can use my current ssd with windows still installed on it without wiping it
Hi Dan, I keep always finding myself back to your videos, I bought the same case as you and I bought a asus tuf b560m plus wifi motherboard (i have a i7-11700 cpu) was just wondering if I can just move my existing m.2 with my data and windows to my new mb without causing any problems? If you can help me in anyway I would really appreaciate it. Your videos have helped me so much. Thanks.
Some motherboards have a BIOS Flashback option which allows you to update the BIOS without a CPU installed, which is done with a FAT32 format flash drive with a USB port on the back. I would HIGHLY recommend updating all motherboard drivers / BIOS which can be found on the motherboards manufacturers website.
I would highly recommend it. I have had no issues with it so far. Easy to use BIOS for XMP, overclocking, and fan curves. Chipset stays very cool. Great board.
Thanks for the reply! You’re videos make me want to keep my omen and just keep upgrading lol. Would love to case swap but your videos make me wana keep the omen thriving!
No problem! I think the best thing you can do for the Omen is case swap for a high airflow case. Either that or keep the Omen case and swap out the CPU cooler. My Omen is used as a 2nd PC now and it’s fantastic.
Whats up Dan new to your channel. I currently have an omen 30l with a 2060 gpu. I walked in to bestbuy as someone canceled a 3060ti (i felt lucky) lol. I just got an asus tuf x570 plus mobo. Im planning on using the same memory. My question is would i have to wipe both drives clean in order for this to work? Also my omen came with windows 10 but i never got the product key for it. Will i have to buy another key?
Hey! Yes, you can use your Omen boot drive and your extra hard-drive with no issues on your new motherboard. Before making this video, I had received some false information so I thought getting a new Windows key was 100% needed, but it is not.
OEM Windows 10 should only work on the motherboard (or same model) that it was installed on. The retail version of Windows allows you to re-install on any motherboard or system.
Hey Dan, I just upgraded from my Omen motherboard. Do you recommend updating to the newest bios even if I don’t have a 5000 series cpu yet? I have a 5800x on the way but it keeps getting stuck in shipping…
Hey! Yes, I would always recommend updating to the newest BIOS for your board. There may be other fixes / stability patches in there, even if you aren’t using the 5xxx CPU yet
Hey, 2.5" SSD's are actually much more common and have come majorly down in price due to the release of m.2 drives. WD / Samsung / Seagate / Lexar / Crucial all make good SSD's
hi Dan, I also have the micro atx motherboard for my hp omen. Do you know if the stock cpu fan will fit in a full sized motherboard? I have the r5 3600 cpu.
No it will not. All Omens motherboards use Intel spacing for their cooler brackets. You will need to find a cooler that has AM4 brackets because of your AMD CPU.
You've might've been asked this already so i'm not sure, but was your new motherboard compatible with the Ryzen 7 chip or did you need to do anything special to get them to work?
Some boards require the motherboard to have the BIOS updated, but it depends on which specific CPU you have. My new board was compatible with my 3700x, but the motherboards BIOS will need to be updated first before accepting a 5xxx series CPU.
Yes you can, but you will be limited to an mATX sized motherboard. If it were me, I would start off with a case swap, and then replace the crappy Omen motherboard.
Got a brand new unsealed 3060 TI plugged it into my Omen 30l Mobo and no display unfortunately I got rid of the 1660 super that was in it now I can't get into the BIOS change settings or install drivers I believe I have the latest NVIDIA drivers but I did not do anything to bios before upgrading. Hoping this is the Mobo just not being set up to recognize this new card and not a dead 1 on a side note I also replace the 500 watt coolermaster with a 750 watt fully modular just to make sure it wasn't a power supply issue
Hey dan had another question for you if you dont mind. So I am going to be buying the same motherboard you just got. I have a ryzen 7 3700 cpu and i was wondering if i use the stock cooler will the bracket from from the omen motherboard work on the new motherboard? If not I will probably go with the noctua cooler.
Nevermind lol I went bk and watched it wont work lol. So I am debating the noctua air or I may go with the corsair h60 aio. I know you recently put one on your omen. Is the h60 worth getting? It seems sleeker and a little easier to put on lol. What is your opinion?
Hey! If you are going with the same motherboard I got, it’s an ATX size and Omen cases only support Micro-ATX. So you’d have to go with a new case; and if you’re going with a new case, you have a TON of options for AIO’s and air coolers
To answer your question, the H60 works good! It’s is FAR better than the stock air cooler and even under 100% CPU utilization, I hit 73c ( stock hit 93c!! ).
@@DanKamYouKnow I did upgrade the case to a corsair 4000d airflow. It's a lot better than the omen oven lol. Right now my cpu hits 73 to 76 max in game so not bad. That's why I was just going to use the stock cooler but you mentioned the bracket doesn't fit the x570 board. So its between going to noctua air or an aio. What noctua cooler is that? Is it the d15 duel tower? I think that's what it is called lol. Oh yeah and btw I got those 3 legged split fan cables and they worked excellent, thank you for the link, much appreciated!
I’m going to do the same to my PC HP omen 30 L-AMD7 3700x - And RTX 2060 16 RAM my 2060 is a really cheap one though I only has one fan it’s the small one
Nice dude! I’ve had great results with mine and I’m sure it’ll work great for you. You’ll have to let me know what you end up going with and how it turns out 👍🏻
I have the hp omen 30l it had a 3060 ti i upgraded the gpu i have a 4070ti super now and cpu i have the cpu to AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor whats a good motherboard that would fit this case t
Just curious, what was your reason for the motherboard upgrade? Was it for a boost/upgrade in speed regarding memory and storage? Awesome video btw! I'll be case swapping my 30L soon, and going around UA-cam watching what I can and seeing any details I should be aware of and whatnot.
Much more flexibility with other motherboards: XMP profiles so you can use any RAM you want and get the max speed from it / custom fan curves for each fan header / under-volting and overclocking / Completely open BIOS. And thank you!!
Hey, why did you swap out the motherboard? Just bought an omen with i5-10400f processor (8gb ddr4 3200 mhz RAM). Read somewhere that bad motherboards cant utilize the max read speed of the ram, was this the case?
I swapped mine out because I enjoy upgrading components mainly. Some of the benefits are: An unlocked BIOS / over-clocking / XMP profiles / higher RAM speeds / individual fan curves
It’s been pretty good! The only issue I have had is the BIOS will sometimes reset after turning off the power. Tried replacing the BIOS battery but it’ll occasionally do it. Other than that, it’s been fine.
Pretty much any X570 would be good tbh but this gigabyte board has been good. Keep in mind that this board does not have WiFi ( I only use Ethernet ). So you may have to get a WiFi model if you need that!
Thank you again ! I’m going to swap my case out same as yours just wasn’t sure on the Mobo bc of the mixed reviews … also yeah sticking to hard lining it so WiFi isn’t needed
FIRST, my streak is back mwahaha 😎🤟😈!! I still gotta watch the video lol. Useful info for sure. DANKAMYOUKNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
So at this point you have replaced every part of the Omen 25. So you just built a new computer one part at a time. Did you use the remaining parts to build an Omen 25L?
So, to make a long story short(er). In March and April of 2020, I wanted to build a PC but parts were SUPER hard to find because of COVID. I eventually bought an Omen because it was readily available and not price gouged. I released a TON of videos on swapping out all the parts and modifying, based on comments suggesting I do tutorial videos for each of them. Then my original plan was to find a CPU and GPU but that took a LOT longer than I expected because of the GPU shortage. I ended up finding a 3070Ti for my DIY build and had all the original parts for the Omen. I just recently came out with a video where I put it back together: ua-cam.com/video/iHgLXKw3dSg/v-deo.html So now my main rig is the DIY build and my 2nd PC is the Omen, which is hooked up to my living room TV 👍
@@DanKamYouKnow Thats awesome! Well I recently purchased an OMEN 25L that was new (Open box) on ebay. People are buying them just for the GPU, and selling the rest of the computer for a fair price. I have an older Quadro GPU that I popped in. Works perfect for me since I just use it for Illustrator and Photoshop. I am utilizing your knowledge to do a few upgrades (Fans, memory, etc.). Thank you for your contribution to the world.
Nice!!! I just switched to Adobe actually and started using Adobe Premiere. Wanting to try other programs they offer also. Glad I could help you out! 👍🏻
I was originally told that HP’s version of Windows OS wouldn’t work on other motherboards, but you are correct, the Omen NVME SSD boot drive works just fine with other boards.
@@DanKamYouKnow Ye I'm oldschool used to work in repair shops and road tech positions decades ago and I had no idea. I was helping my brother swap his omen to a new case/mobo etc and came across the info, so we tried it. It blew me away.
So at what point is it no longer updating your Omen and more about i took the video card and processor from an Omen PC for my new custom? nothing wrong with going that way, figure alot of people will need to get some of the core parts.
I considered it an Omen until I swapped out the motherboard, even though it was in a different case, because it still ran off HP’s OS. Only reason I titled the video with Omen in it is because this process is identical to swapping the board into the Omen case, which a lot of people are interested in doing. It’s officially a DIY PC after the Omen board swap.
I just swapped motherboard into same case as my Omen obelisk, the rgb board was connected to the “light bar” connection on the Omen mb, but I have no idea where to plug it into on the new board
Hey Dan, I am planing to swap out my motherboard and case but I don't want to buy another copy of windows, is it fine if I just use the old nvme m.2 with windows on it and install it on my new motherboard? Love your videos btw keep it up👍
Hey man! I have a very stock HP Obelisk 875 and I went to buy the same “new” motherboard and decided that eBay would be an entirely great idea…it wasn’t, because they sold me a Corrupted/Broken Bios that kept looping, I got extremely angry and decided maybe it’s time for me to replace the motherboard. (NOVICE PC SKILLS) First thing is that I know that everything in the computer besides HDD, and SSD are not HP brand, but if I’m going to be replacing the entire motherboard, does that mean I have to replace almost everything that is not HP? I have absolutely no clue if my power supply would work with a new motherboard, I’m just all over the place with this stuff.
@@DanKamYouKnow thank you for replying so quick man, but for sure I will think about it! so other question, the CPU and GPU (gpu is HP brand) it will alright to put on the new motherboard? Just making sure.
Does anyone know if it's possible to reuse my ram, processor and SSD on an ITX motherboard? I'd like to salvage as much as I possibly can without discarding too much of the original components. Any suggestions for any ITX specific motherboards especially?
Yes, as long as you stick to a motherboard that is a Micro ATX ( The size of the motherboard ), it should work fine. I would probably consider doing a power supply as well if you do just the motherboard. I would consider case swapping though for the cooling benefits.
What, you say the hp omen 45l Only excepts a micro atx motherboard? I've been told I can fit any full size motherboard, I'm currently looking for the best motherboard for my Ryzen 9 5900x to go in the 45l case? Thanks
The 45L wasn’t even out yet when I made this video, but to answer your question, the 45L will accept an ATX board or mATX. I don’t know why you would go with mATX but you could. For a 5900x, I would go with an X570 board that you like the look of, it will be your best option for that CPU 👍🏻
@@DanKamYouKnow oh sorry lol I've been following you for a long time now and I was sure I watched your video at the time I bought my 45l. OK thanks Dan I'll look to buying the x570 motherboard. Briefly, I just want to do a direct motherboard swap and keep the rest of the 45l components, the fans lights for example. Will this be fine or do I need to buy additional parts, like longer cables, the cpu water cooler, power adapter. What's your thoughts as this is a new project for me that I'm excited for but also a novice at the same time haha?
I have an older omen 880with a Ryzen 5 1400 and a RTX 3500. Need advice because I’m bottlednecking hard and can’t upgrade cpus due to the motherboard. Is it possible to swap a new motherboard into an 880?
How would I know which motherboard I have in my omen and which other motherboards would be compatible? I’ve tried looking all over the internet and on HP and I cant find anything. Thinking about just getting a new case and mobo and just swapping everything over. 😩
A new case would open you up for a ton of different options for cooling. As far as a motherboard, depends on which CPU you have. Once you find a compatible motherboard that works with your current CPU, you should be fine.
No worries. Most components now-a-days are all compatible with each other ( for the most part ). But you gotta get a board that supports your CPU ( usually whatever generation they CPU is; 9th gen Intel / 10th gen Intel / AMD 3xxx / AMD 5xxx )
hey i know this is kinda unrelated but i recenlty installed i think a 90mm noctua fan on the back of my hp omen 30L, and the exhaust airflow was pretty garbage compared to the hp omen fan, shocked me ngl, it went from like a baseline of 150-160 to skyrocketing easily to 170-181. do you know why? could it be i ordered the wrong type? its pretty strange cause im pretty sure i ordered the same one you used in a installation video
@@DanKamYouKnow yeah i should have it the right way, and sorry yeah its a 92mm. its weird cause it fits all well and shit and it just made my temps worse, i have to look at it again because im back with my stock exhaust at the moment
@@DanKamYouKnow well i think i know why, the exhaust power of the hp stock fan seemed to push a lot more out than the noctua one did. the noctua one feels kinda weak, maybe i installed it wrong im honeslty not sure it should be fine i dont know why it isnt working like it should
I’m a complete idiot so sorry if this is a stupid question… if I’m changing the motherboard but keeping the SSD and hard drive from the HP Omen, do I need to still save my windows account to a usb drive or can I just connect the old SSD and hard drive to the new motherboard etc?
hey bro, I put a whole new build for my brother in an omen obelisk case everything fits fine it's an older gen intel motherboard with an i7 3770 in it. It's all working all good but I cant control the lighting in the case and at the front of the case is there a way I can change the RGB or is it just stuck like that? I've already tried downloading the omen gaming hub and trying to use the light studio but it didn't seem to appear anything I can do about this??
Are you still using the HP RGB light board? Should be a small rectangular board with all the connections. Although I’m not sure it would work with normal motherboard because I think it has proprietary connections
amzn.to/2Shujar Here's a link to the board that I bought. It was about $200 for the motherboard! Case was about $100, RAM was about $190, SSD'S were about $300. All other components were from my Omen.
Congrats! This is the path that always recommend for all Omen owners. Enjoy your new PC! 👍🏻
Went on a binge of a LOT of your videos after watching my first one. Managed to get the Omen 25L with the 3070 card and really appreciate your advice since I've never really swapped anything out of any desktops I've had in the past. Love the videos!
Congratulations on your new PC and you’re welcome! Appreciate your support!
Is your card lhr?

As far as results go: If you saw my case swap video where I transferred the Omen motherboard over, my temperatures pretty much stayed the same.
@@DanKamYouKnow they models I’ve seen pf the 25L seems to come with a classic fan and a 500W bronze psu. The 30L models come watercooled

So, Omens are great as long as you replace the case, motherboard, storage, memory, and cooling system :)
I have done many a video about the short comings of the Omen. The fact that HP used the term upgradeable is an insult.
I am here 10 seconds after upload. Let's goo
Ayyeeeee
This is the most in-depth video I found. My question is what about keeping all the data from current drives?
I want to fresh install windows but keep my data
Cloning software is your best bet like Macrium Reflect. Simply copies your current drive onto the other.
Congrats on the level up to a far superior motherboard!
Thanks!! As soon as I find a GPU for the new build ( 3080 ), I can put it back in the Omen and revive it. 👍🏻

I put my omen 30l i9 10850k 3080 into a cool master case with a cool master aio works great now no cooling issues
That’s the best think you could do for those model Omens is a case swap, that GPU and CPU need as much airflow as possible. Glad it worked out for you 🙌🏻
Do you think the Moria 3 motherboard that comes with the ryzen 3000 series would support zen 3 chips?
I honestly don’t think so. Most motherboards require a BIOS flash to be able to work with a 5xxx series AMP CPU, and there’s no way to access the BIOS on a Moria 3 to do the flash. Not sure how that would work. If you’re going with a Zen3 chip, you may as well look at a new motherboard.
@@DanKamYouKnow that’s right. My ryzen 5 3600 will do for a couple of years
Yeah, 3600 is a great processor. Unless you are doing some heavy duty rendering / multi-core work, you’ll be totally fine 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
hey Dan, I bought a 25L omen gaming PC earlier this year and I've come across the problem that its cooling capabilities are garbage. it came with a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 and I noticed yours is obviously not that.
I would try MSI Afterburner first and see how it works for you:
ua-cam.com/video/X5xuJCt7vf0/v-deo.html
Your fan curve WILL look different than mine because your GPU is different. Experiment with the curve and what works best for you.
I did a full case and b550 and I can't get the omen stuff off the new mobo and case stuff. Do u know how to get the old omen stuff off the new stuff I used the same ram m.2 boot drive I'm not computer savvy lol
stuff off the new stuff.
That’s a good tip 👌🏻
hp: yo i feel we got scam
dan: nahhh screw yall for locking the bios
As long as your spread is even, it works just fine
I explain how to load Windows in the description. You need to download and place the Windows Media Creation Tool, on a flash drive.
These videos are good. Thanks for sharing!!

If so how?? Thank you
What CPU did he try to use on that board? All the Omen software should be available through HP's website or the Microsoft store.
@@DanKamYouKnow he purchased a new Ryzen 5600x. And thank you I’ll check tonight and try to download it
Interesting. See if he can boot from USB or boot into the BIOS and see the different startup options

Also where can I find what drivers I need to download on the usb, I really don’t know what drivers are where’s a good place to get info on it? Thanks bud your videos have really helped on my pc journey
Hey! Yes, you can use your Omen SSD on another motherboard. Drivers will be downloaded from the Support and Drivers tab for your new motherboard.

I agree! I’m actually planning on adding some case lighting to help make the components pop a little more, without all the RGB.
You MAY need a new Windows key for your new motherboard. I go over the instructions in the description. Sounds like you got some good stuff!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
That is correct. The HP drive will work just fine on another motherboard
@@DanKamYouKnow alright thanks, I’ve heard of some issues with windows that could occur but I’m glad that it works smoothly
I like that Mount you have your screens on.. Where you get that from? I need one like that. Hopefully i can get two 32s on it
Hey Reggie!! So, the one I currently has a cheap one from Amazon, so I’d recommend something like this:
amzn.to/3wNgu4S
amzn.to/3B47laF
amzn.to/3AC0V0R
All of these say they support up to 32”
Thanks for your kind words and support! 🤝
@@DanKamYouKnow Thank you for replying! I really appreciate your opinion. I built my first pc 4 years ago, and that made me to realize compatibility matters a lot.(not only for parts, for RGBs related stuff too these days I guess )
I hope I can achieve this some time soon and report you the final result!
Meanwhile, please stay safe and also keep making great vides! I think I'm addicted to your omen related videos XD
Please let me know how your build turns out and thanks again for your support of the channel. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yup, I did a tutorial on it before building my DIY PC:
ua-cam.com/video/YiEc7Qd9l0s/v-deo.html
Pretty easy to do.
Love your HP Omen upgrade tutorials!! What would your current board recommendations be based on current options out there? I am debating about upgrading my prebuilt Omen so starting to review/shop around. :D
Also any recommendations for switching out any of the other components? My OMEN is an AMD 3700x/ with a 3070/ 16gb ram/ 512 nvme/ 2 tb hdd/ 500 watt power supply. OR with the current prices of AMD cpus dropping is it worth sticking out for an AMD 5000 series/ waiting for the 7000 series later this year? I've been so indicive over upgrading my current unit (also as i've never built my own PC yet) or just waiting.
thanks in advance :D
I just replied to your comment on Discord! Hope it helps
@@DanKamYouKnow yes definitely helps 😀😀
But I am not sure if you can display your on board graphics on one monitor while the GPU is out-putting another.
Gotcha. I don’t play MSFS so don’t have any experience with it.
I don’t have specific benchmarks but there are lots on UA-cam already. Ryzen processors respond incredibly well to higher frequency RAM.
Hey thanks for the heads up on the cooler spacing.. its good know hp uses intel mounting points..
You’re welcome! It is strange how they do that but makes sense because they don’t have to make a separate cooler for each CPU make
Weird question, have you seen any improvements in gaming, like FPS and such, since I saw people with the exact same build and settings on certain games, getting somewhere to 100+ more FPS, also are the RAMs usable on another motherboard, I got the stock 16gb x 2 Hyperx Fury, saw some people saying they may not work on other motherboards 😐.
@@DanKamYouKnow thank you very much 🙌
No prob my dude
As usual, you're Godly knowledge levels have saved my bacon :)
Hope to see another video/live stream at some point!
Thanks boss!
Hey! You would want to check your manual for the motherboard, to be 100% on which way it goes.
@@DanKamYouKnow the manual shows the + and - pins horizontally. used to them being vertical. i'd hate to trash a new m/b. could it be because it's a 40L case? thanks.
Then I would plug it in horizontally. Every motherboard is different so I would follow the manual before anything else.
@@DanKamYouKnow Thanks Again! What would be a good case for the asrock b660m motherboard?
Whatever route you want to go! So many cases out there now a days. I would look up Gamers Nexus’ best cases for 2023 video! See which one you like the best and fits your motherboard size
Sup Dan, on the thumbnail next to your ram sticks is that the c drive that comes with the pc? If so if I upgrade that stick will I have to reinstall windows?
Yes, that is the boot drive. If you upgrade it, you will have to clone that drive onto the new drive that you purchase. It’s actually the next video I will be doing and should be up in about a week or so, still have more to film.

4000D is an awesome case as well
Wow good job Dan. Your pc is no longer a hp product lol (I think this is better)
Definitely better but there was nothing wrong with my Omen! It’s just the life of a PC enthusiast: always upgrading and changing components. I’m going to have a video coming out next weekend about my final thoughts on the Omen and the whole swap 👍🏻

Do you need to update the bios?? Also is updating the same as flashing it?
Some motherboards have a BIOS Flashback option which allows you to update the BIOS without a CPU installed, which is done with a FAT32 format flash drive with a USB port on the back. I would HIGHLY recommend updating all motherboard drivers / BIOS which can be found on the motherboards manufacturers website.
Any update on the motherboard? Been following your videos for a while now and looking to upgrade my mobo. Would you still recommend this mobo?
@@DanKamYouKnow thanks i appreciate the tip. Happy holidays
Thanks! You too. 🤝
OEM Windows 10 should only work on the motherboard (or same model) that it was installed on. The retail version of Windows allows you to re-install on any motherboard or system.
What is the difference between the 2? OEM ( original equipment ) meaning from Microsoft’s website?
Hey Dan, I just upgraded from my Omen motherboard. Do you recommend updating to the newest bios even if I don’t have a 5000 series cpu yet? I have a 5800x on the way but it keeps getting stuck in shipping…
Hey! Yes, I would always recommend updating to the newest BIOS for your board. There may be other fixes / stability patches in there, even if you aren’t using the 5xxx CPU yet
Hey Dan, which storage device would you recommend for a causal gamer, m. 2 drives sound like overkill but ssd cards sound limited
@@DanKamYouKnow ok, thanks for the reply.
Awesome thank you!
Yes you can, but you will be limited to an mATX sized motherboard. If it were me, I would start off with a case swap, and then replace the crappy Omen motherboard.
Yup. They do work fine but definitely are on the cheaper side.
The HP motherboard should work fine with any GPU. Just had someone on the HP Omen Discord use a 3080Ti with the Omen motherboard

How’s the motherboard been treating you ? Some mixed reviews on Amazon
It’s been pretty good! The only issue I have had is the BIOS will sometimes reset after turning off the power. Tried replacing the BIOS battery but it’ll occasionally do it. Other than that, it’s been fine.

I just recently came out with a video where I put it back together:
ua-cam.com/video/iHgLXKw3dSg/v-deo.html
So now my main rig is the DIY build and my 2nd PC is the Omen, which is hooked up to my living room TV 👍
@@DanKamYouKnow Thats awesome! Well I recently purchased an OMEN 25L that was new (Open box) on ebay. People are buying them just for the GPU, and selling the rest of the computer for a fair price. Thank you for your contribution to the world.
Nice!!! I just switched to Adobe actually and started using Adobe Premiere. Wanting to try other programs they offer also. Glad I could help you out! 👍🏻
Definitely don't NEED a new windows key/ format. Just pop in the new motherboard, pop in the old omen ssd, boom works. Its a windows 10 feature.
Very convenient that it works on other motherboards!
Did you put the old videos from your other drive in to the new one
They are still stored on my mechanical hard-drive. If I ever need them, I can transfer them over. I only saved the stuff I really needed
I'm a the point where swapping the MB in my OMEN 25l for any modern updgrades is needed. To much jerry rigging to get new upgrades to work.
Yeah, the Omen motherboards are pretty much trash.
I just swapped motherboard into same case as my
Omen obelisk, the rgb board was connected to the “light bar” connection on the Omen mb, but I have no idea where to plug it into on the new board
Most Omen stuff is proprietary and will only work with another Omen boards. You’ll probably want to get a case.
Hey Dan, I am planing to swap out my motherboard and case but I don't want to buy another copy of windows, is it fine if I just use the old nvme m.2 with windows on it and install it on my new motherboard? Love your videos btw keep it up👍
Thanks!!! Yes, you can use the Omen SSD with your new motherboard 👍🏻
(NOVICE PC SKILLS)
First thing is that I know that everything in the computer besides HDD, and SSD are not HP brand, but if I’m going to be replacing the entire motherboard, does that mean I have to replace almost everything that is not HP? I have absolutely no clue if my power supply would work with a new motherboard, I’m just all over the place with this stuff.
You’ll want to replace the PSU as well because the HP board uses a 4 pin connector for CPU power, and most “normal” motherboards have 8 pin
@@DanKamYouKnow thank you for replying so quick man, but for sure I will think about it!
so other question, the CPU and GPU (gpu is HP brand) it will alright to put on the new motherboard? Just making sure.
Yup, GPU will fit fine. What CPU do you have?
@@DanKamYouKnow i7 8700! not the K
Yeah, everything will work just fine 👍🏻
Does anyone know if it's possible to reuse my ram, processor and SSD on an ITX motherboard? I'd like to salvage as much as I possibly can without discarding too much of the original components. Any suggestions for any ITX specific motherboards especially?
For HP omen 30l, is it even possible to swap out an intel motherboard, and replace with a 3rd party motherboard, keeping the original 30l case?
Yes, as long as you stick to a motherboard that is a Micro ATX ( The size of the motherboard ), it should work fine. I would probably consider doing a power supply as well if you do just the motherboard. I would consider case swapping though for the cooling benefits.
hi dan! Would this motherboard ASUS Prime B450M-A II AMD AM4 be okay to use for my swap, i have the omen 30L 3060 and 5600G
I don’t think that motherboard supports 5xxx series AMD CPU’s and I can’t really find out much information on it
What, you say the hp omen 45l Only excepts a micro atx motherboard?
As long as the motherboard size is the same, yes. I don’t know much about the older Omens but I assume it’s Micro ATX sized.
@@DanKamYouKnow Alright thank you! Helps a lot, I think thats the smartest option for me right now.
The rear exhaust fan is a 92mm. Do you have the fan orientation the right way? If it’s a Noctua fan, it’s WAY better than the stock HP one.
@@DanKamYouKnow yeah i should have it the right way, and sorry yeah its a 92mm. its weird cause it fits all well and shit and it just made my temps worse, i have to look at it again because im back with my stock exhaust at the moment
It seems weird that just a rear 92mm fan made your temps run hotter.
@@DanKamYouKnow well i think i know why, the exhaust power of the hp stock fan seemed to push a lot more out than the noctua one did. the noctua one feels kinda weak, maybe i installed it wrong im honeslty not sure it should be fine i dont know why it isnt working like it should
The Noctua fan is a MUCH higher quality fan and will push way more air than the cheap HP fans. May want to get the fan warrantied.
I’m a complete idiot so sorry if this is a stupid question… if I’m changing the motherboard but keeping the SSD and hard drive from the HP Omen, do I need to still save my windows account to a usb drive or can I just connect the old SSD and hard drive to the new motherboard etc?
All you need to do is swap the SSD over to a new board, it will work just like it did on the Omen 👍🏻
@@DanKamYouKnow thank you so much!
No problem! Keep in mind that none of the HP programs will work with a different motherboard, so you can go ahead and delete them. 👍🏻
hey bro, I put a whole new build for my brother in an omen obelisk case everything fits fine it's an older gen intel motherboard with an i7 3770 in it.
What the new mobo called also how much did you play for you pc in total with the upgrades thanks

Here's a link to the board that I bought. It was about $200 for the motherboard! Case was about $100, RAM was about $190, SSD'S were about $300. All other components were from my Omen.
Thank you so much 👍🏼
One more question if you don’t mind does it also work with the Ryzen 7 3700x or no
Yes it does, I have a 3700c processor and this motherboard is compatible with it.
Do you use the omen command center to control the speed of your fans?
Omen Command Center is only with the Omen motherboard. My new motherboard has custom fan curves for each fan header.
