You can stop start with no clutch ! You switch off engine take brake off put in 1 st then spin over starter with throttle down starts and then float gears as you did

You could have even put it in 1st gear with the engine off. And then start the engine while it's in 1st gear. It's a bumpy start, but It will start driving, and you can go from there. I also had to do this once with a broken clutch. Great adventure you had. Great story to tell your grandkids, after you explained them what a manual transmission is.

When hitting a red light, what happens if you put the car into neutral before it stall? Rev it to the right rpm and put first when the light goes green?
@@KPRDS05 there is no right RPM if the car is stopped. The target RPM is directly proportional to wheel speed, but if wheel speed is zero, then engine rpm will be zero. You would have to push the car again to get the wheel speed up, otherwise the engine will stall.
Driving without a clutch needs a bit of prctise but is totally doable. To start from 0, you need to turn off your engine, hold your brake, slide in 1st gear, and give it a start while giving it a bit of throttle, so it will get going. From there if you want to get it out of gear smoothly, without any force, give it a little bit of gas, so its under load and spinning faster, then you can easily slide it out of gear, and from there is only rev matching to slide into other gears. As when you are going up the gears and speed, the rpms drop a bit, so you can, if done correctly switch gears with no throttle play whatsoever. Downshifting the gears you need to rise rpms so what you have to do, is slip it out from the gear, play with the throttle and try to guess(if you know your car well, you know about what rpms are there gonna be with certain speed) the rpms, and slide the gear in.

Really? Can that cause excessive wear on the clutch I had my clutch fail the same way twice now and pedal stuck to the floor never had that issue til recently
