    The big thing that irritates me about Adnan is this:
    He obviously learns that his "buddy" Jay shows police where Hae's car is stashed after her disappearance. Then he learns of the several contradictory stories Jay gives.
    If it were me and I was 100% innocent, and I had an ex that disappeared or was killed, and my "buddy" shows police where the car is - I'd spend every ounce of my day trying to get him convicted. That right there is what is so f'd up. Adnan has never tried to implicate Jay in anyway, or bad mouth him. The worst he did was mutter "pathetic" as Jay walked by in the courtroom.
    I'm convinced this was indeed carried out by both Adnan and Jay, and Jay just broke immediately. Any implication that Jay was involved from Adnan, and Adnan immediately shows his guilt or involvement.
    I also have a big problem with Adnan high as a mofo at that Cathy girls apartment before 530. If Adnan was at track practice til 430, how the heck is he molesting pillows at a strangers house less than an hour later?

    • @AugustBloomingdale
      @AugustBloomingdale 10 років тому +9

      ...or Jay was a pawn in this as much as Adnan was. Jay was being threatened with life in prison himself if he didn't go along with the plan. Remember, Jay kept changing his story to fit the evidence he was given. Now why would he do that???

    • @Barkeroni
      @Barkeroni 10 років тому +12

      Katrina Anderson Jay was absolutely involved after the fact. There is no reason for a petty drug dealer to want to be involved with anything that the police are looking at. He kept changing his story to cover for others, and the mere fact he was a totally stoned dumbass I think he couldn't recall the whole story. I dont know if could convict Adnan based on a potheads testimony, but I am fairly certain Adnan killed Hae. There are too many inconvenient instances for him, and they all point at him.

    • @AugustBloomingdale
      @AugustBloomingdale 10 років тому +2

      Barkeroni Yes, Jay was a petty drug dealer. Actually, the term "petty" is up for debate if you read Jay's interview from The Intercept. Jay was more involved in weed dealing than he initially let on, which sounds plausible. If you listen to the detectives interviews with Jay, you can sense they're familiar with him. If the detectives knew all the details of his heavy involvement in supplying weed because of his prior run-ins with the law, and also all the people that were connected in Jay's same operation, this would be a major bargaining chip for the detectives to use against Jay. If I were Jay, I wouldn't want to be responsible for drug dealers going to prison because I didn't say what detectives wanted me to. Then I'd end up in Leakin' Park somewhere too. If detectives believed Jay committed the crime, their case against him would've been much stronger, yet he served no jail time at all. Why? Because they made a deal with him that was never made public.

    • @AugustBloomingdale
      @AugustBloomingdale 10 років тому +2

      Barkeroni We can't even be sure that Jay really knew the whole time where the car was. Jay's first interview with detectives was 2/28/1999 but he didn't take them to Hae's body and car until 4/13/1999. What was he waiting for? Was he waiting to be fed this information by other people during the negotiations process? We know Mr. S found the Hae's body on 2/9/1999 and alerted the cops. There's debate about whether many people knew the location of her body (considering how well-hidden it was for Mr. S to stumble upon it) and Mr. S was just the good Samaritan to come forward. It's not like detectives didn't already know where her body was and they could've unknowingly given clues to Jay. Was this why detectives provided him with a private attorney? Was Jay's cooperation the reason why he served no jail time for being an "accessory after the fact", if you even believe he actually was an accessory and isn't just saying that to make the story more believable? If he was an accessory, why was his house never searched? I find that part suspect too.

    • @Barkeroni
      @Barkeroni 9 років тому +8

      Katrina Anderson True. Those detectives were idiots too. If all they had was Jay's testimony, and no real evidence against Adnan, why didn't they simply wiretap Jay? They could have also had Jay phone Adnan and listen in.
      "Hey Adnan, its Jay. Listen man, I think we need to move her car."
      If Adnan comments about it, boom! Guilty right there.
      They could have easily had Jay implicate Adnan over the phone or a simple wiretap. This could have been done in so many scenarios its almost laughable they didn't do it. Jay and Adnan still hung out a few times after her murder…

    Did she know that this was going to be filmed? Because the last episode of Serial her boyfriend claims that the night before she asked him to call the school and pretend to be a guardian to excuse her absence, so that she could spend the entire day with him. But it's hard to believe a young girl would do that, knowing the a film crew would be expecting to take some shots of her and a quick interview at 6:30am. This makes the boyfriend a liar.....which to me, puts some of the spotlight on him.

    • @jameshang4009

      Here is a tip...Don't believe everything you hear in podcasts...or on the internet for that matter. If you take that advice, then maybe some day, someone might actually care about your opinion. But until that day...no one will ever want to know your thoughts on anything since you don't HAVE thoughts of your own.

      Hi John, if you listen to the other podcast done by Rabia Choudry they go into a lot more detail about times and dates of this filming and some of the hockey games that Hae went to etc. Seems that this film may not have been made the day she disappeared after all. However, i must say that i always thought the new boyfriend Don's behaviour was strange - which does not, of course, mean he is guilty of anything - except i thought it was strange that you would ring someone late to make sure they had arrived home safely (showing that he cared and was the type to check in regularly) and then, when the same person goes missing (remember, they were supposed to see each other that evening) you never ever bother trying to contact her at all.

      I can't either. She's supposed ot be dead by 2:36pm which means it was definitely not dark at all, it wasnt even close to getting dark. If this is the same day then she must have come back from the dead because at 0:14 it's dark. She's either in a super dark hallway where the lights are shitty or it's dark outside and the outside lights are on.

    • @hypersapien
      @hypersapien 9 років тому +24

      Alanna Frank Further investigation suggests this was not actually filmed on the day of her death. She is believed to have died on the 13th of February, but a hand written note in her car (written by Hae) specifically mentions the TV interview and a wrestling match occurring on the same day, that wrestling match is known to have happened on the 5th.

      not even the same year. Listen to her, this is from late 97 or early 98.
      If this video was taken on January 13, 1999, Hae would say she's played Lacrosse for three years.
      Hae says she's played Field Hockey for two years. Hae didn't play Field Hockey during her sophomore year. The two years she's talking about would be her freshman and junior years.

    the one thing about this case that perplexes me so much is the fact that Adnan supposedly called his own phone, which was said to be in Jay’s possession at that time using a pay phone at the Best Buy he killed Hae at. And yet, there is no evidence that there was a pay phone at that location. Employees from that time were asked about said pay phone, but no one remembered one at that location. And photos from around that time were dug up and there was no pay phone or phone booth visible on the property. So how could Adnan have called Jay? I believe Jay assisted Adnan in the murder. And Jay was so careful to dispose of his clothes from that night, making sure there was no evidence he was involved. Why would someone supposedly innocent be so careful to destroy evidence?

      @@okentrepreneur3777 Then you know nothing about the case. Adnan is clearly guilty. Multiple corroborative witnesses (Jay & the dentist), motive, he accidently admitted he had the cell phone on him when it was pinged (he didn't know they could do that), and the only person who confirms Adnan's fake alibi was ratted out by her own sisters as a liar who'd say anything to exonerate this criminal. He's guilty. Jay may have been an accomplice but Adnan is the murder.

  • @hpsevenjuly
    @hpsevenjuly 9 років тому +39

    I wanna believe Adnan didn't do it because there's no real hard evidence that it was him, but at the same time if he's so innocent why can't he remember what he did that day around 2:30? especially if he got a call asking if he'd seen Hae. I would be beating myself up and racking my brain trying to remember because that could possibly prove my innocence and save me a lifetime in prison. Also, Jay should've definitely been convicted too. Not just probation for two years. He was straight up an accomplice and should've gotten some time in jail or paid bail or something harsher instead of just agreeing to "help them" with his testimony.

      Honestly, there's so many nothing days. Try to remember what you did last wednesday. Remember that before they knew she was _really_ missing he probably wouldn't have thought about it. Actually that is one part that makes me think he could be innocent, the fact that if he supposedly made such a great plan and plot to kill her, why wouldn't he have an alibi and know where he was that day.

    • @abraxas511
      @abraxas511 6 років тому +13

      If you consider your ex girlfriend going missing and cops calling you that very night to ask about it a "nothing day" then you live a more interesting life than I do.
      It was not a week like you say, it was not 6 weeks like sarah says......it was mere hours when he was first notified she was missing.
      He knew exactly what he did every minute of that day, guaranteed. The minute the cops called him he would have called hae, he didnt, because he knew she was dead because he watched her die as his hands slowly tightened around her neck and he watched the life fade from her eyes.

    i listened to the serial podcast when it was FIRST coming out, and i would anxiously wait every week for a new episode with updates and new information and man, it was a wild ride. it was truly an incredible podcast, super detailed and very interesting and i would recommend it to anyone. it was also an extremely tragic event, but i do believe adnan is innocent and i’m glad he’s getting a new trial. it’s horrible hae min lee was killed and i hope she gets the justice she deserves. i truly wish there was a button we could all push to go back to that day and find out what happened to her, and who the hell killed such an innocent girl. she was an amazing, smart, very caring individual who was loved by many. rest in peace, beautiful 🕊💔

      Adnan is guilty as hell.
      He's the only one with a clear motive, he wrote that he would kill her on the same breakup letter she sent him, his cellphone pinged the cell towers in the area where Hae Min Lee's body was found, other witnesses testified that they heard Adnan bragging about how he actually murdered someone with his bare hands, the mosque that Adnan attended collected about 80 signatures from members claiming that they witnessed Adnan at the mosque praying to Allah on the day of the murder yet Adnan himself refuted this narrative by claiming that he was at school during a track and field event, and none of the recently done DNA testing has proven anything since such evidence quickly degrades over time (especially when in this case, the evidence wasn't stored in a way that was conscious of DNA preservation).
      Guys, this isn't a hard case when you know the full story and _why_ the jury, the court of appeals, and the supreme court ruled the way they did. The Serial Podcast slices and dices cases such as this and presents them in highly misleading ways to fool you into thinking that there was some sort of miscarriage of justice at hand. In reality, the Innocence Project is rallying for donations and giving the public the illusion that the organization is needed a lot more than they actually are.

    Adnan is guilty and the only reason he can't or won't attack Jay's accusations is because he decided from the beginning to deny deny deny. If he implicates Jay and admits Jay helped him bury the body, then he has to admit his own guilt. If Jay made the whole thing up then it would mean Jay is guilty and had something to do with it: with no apparent motive. Adnan has the motive, not Jay.

    Think he killed her. He turned down the plea of 4 more years without an alfred plea vs spending the rest of his life in prison. He lied to his mother during his teenage days and was secretive, just to not hurt her feelings/be innocent in her eyes.
    If he takes the plea, he will be out of jail in 4 years, but will have to risk being looked at differently under his parents and family's eyes, especially after all the effort and faith they put into his innocence.
    So, I believe he has no problem staying in jail because he knows he did the crime. He rather be in jail, falsly claiming to be an innocent man than be out in the world, labeled as guilty, which he is.

    • @coatimundi69
      @coatimundi69 3 роки тому +1

      i cant attest to the guilt or innocence being why he decided to stay in jail, but i dont think him lying to his mother about having a girlfriend is proof of his secrecy. my sister lied to my parents about her boyfriend because they didnt want her dating until she was 16. everyone with strict parents lies, it doesnt mean that theyre suited to kill someone

They went up to the school and watched and followed her then figured out a way to get her out of her car and harm her and that jay guy later heard about it and he implicated adnan Bc he knew him and if he had implicated the true killer someone he’s more threatened by? It’s very possible. There’s literally no dna evidence linking adnan to the murder and the only thing they’re going on is jays story which has many holes in it. Also, jays is known to be a liar and make up things even in his own lie. Did they ever do a psychological evaluation on the witness or a character evaluation?
