What I like in TOF is when there's a boss you can't defeat, you just shout it out in world chat, invite random players, summon them then the fun begins. that's what I like from TOF when I played it before I quit the game.

Can't say ToF doesn't deserve all the crap you threw at it. It just makes me sigh over what it could have been if it hade been made with more competence and professionalism. But from what I understand ToF has ONE thing better than most gachas - A character creator.
The issue with having a character creator: As the game ages, and better quality characters are introduced, your character continues to look like a 1.0 character. Sadly.
I liked the Character Creator until they put the MC in place of the Character you created starting in 3x.
the one main thing that stuck to me about tower of fantasy over wuthering and genshin personally is being able to give the stats (weapon) to any character you want so you could always play with your favorite characters and however u wanted in that sense and ofc being able to customize your mc

Nah. Actually there was a boost of players to ToF in CN after the WuWa launch. ToF will be fine because it still offers something UNIQUE, while WuWa is Genshin 0.8.
And yes ToF pulled a lot of s**t at launch. But it's been two years... do we still need to dwell on past mistakes? Also ToF 1.0 was by an indie team of 30 people which perfectly explains its quality at launch. Then they became a 300 person team after launch success and the content rollout ever since reflects that.

I might be one of the few people who actually like tof despite all the bugs and stuff, as a side note i did play tof before even touching genshin. But i just like the idea of having multiple weapons with one character rather than multiple characters with different abilities, because I found it sort of tedious in genshin to build up all these different characters but at the same time it was probably way more fun than just pressing a few buttons to level up my weapons and making sure they had the right matrixes or whatever tf it is called and stuff. I also liked how tof was an open world multiplayer game, for me i feel like if a game is single player you shouldn't have to connect to the internet until you wanna play multiplayer. But i think wuthering waves will definitely be a tof killer
its a live service game which most if not all of require internet to play also ww is not just a singleplayer game it also has coop functionality. also being a gacha game with events it requires internet for events to be able to populate as not all events start as soon as the server goes live some start several days or weeks later which requires internet to recognize when they start

It's funny seeing this video now. Playing WuWa and being disappointed by it made me think back to ToF, pick it back up, and I've been having so much more fun with ToF.
I personally enjoy Tower of fantasy very much. But I'm crazy excited for wuthering waves tomorrow. I personally prefer games with one main character that you can customize and make your own that's one thing I really don't like about genshin you cant customize your character and unfortunately I don't think you'll be able to in wuthering waves but I didn't play the beta so I don't know
Tbh i think tower of fantasy did well for their first game ( I never even played the game even once )
people have to understand that making an action mmorpg and keeping game balanced is not easy job and for a company launching their first game while considering genshin's state as a completely dominant title they did good
now as they have gained experience they have improved a lot but it doesn't even matter if only they hadn't rushed the game
if they ever decide to make another game it would be worth it atleast in my opinion but that won't happen atleast in the near future
WuWa was right delaying their development 3 years ago when Kuro Games decided to announce the game around the same time as Genshin. All these while observing how Genshin fares and performs during the years and slowly catering to the current trend.

I stopped playing ToF in December. I've been playing it since its release and man, this game, despite having its problems, at the time I had a lot of fun with it. And I like this mmo style. I liked it because it had the option for you to customize the main character the way you wanted. And at the same time switch to a simulacrum. From calling others to kill a certain boss and getting together with everyone to kill Sobek on the spot. But there came a time when it started to get boring. Keep collecting and running after dark crystals and taking a character of the element you chose and worrying about whether he will suffer a powercreep and so on. It wasn't so cool to me anymore. Anyway, if there are still people playing ToF, keep going. The game has its problems, but it's a good game. Don't take my experience with ToF as yours. CREATE your own gaming experience. If you still like ToF, great. And if you don't like ToF anymore, that's great too. After all, games were made for you to have fun. Anyway. That's it. A big shoutout to all.
Say what you will about ToF but you only had to pull for weapons on there and got the character along with it. And you could buy dupes with dupe currency. One of the most fair if not the fairest f2p gotcha games imo.
Sorry to contest you, but as a fellow dedicated ToF player:
Alice Fiction, Atelier Resleriana (low pity price and 4% 3 star chance, the highest I've seen), Azur Lane, Blue Archive, Girl's Frontline, Crossing Void (EoSed sadge), Puzzle Combat, Arknights, PGR, all had fairer gacha systems. I didn't even need dupes for these games to be effective, nor SSRs. Even in Genshin you don't need good stuff to clear all content. Don't forget in ToF, you need armor levels, matrices, constantly updated A0 SSRs, to even be worth your salt without some whale carrying you. I spent nothing in Genshin, Azur Lane, Puzzle Combat, and Blue Archive. I spent $500 total across all games mentioned except ToF, and am powerful in all of them. I spent $2000 in ToF alone, and am stagnant in strength.
Don't get me wrong, I still like ToF especially Shelly, Yan Miao, Shirli, Ling Qiao, Lin, Ruby, Fiona, Molinia, are all my favourite characters. Lizzie Freeman is an especially good VC; she did really well.
I respect Stixx but this whole video feels pointless.
1. Comparing an MMO to a singleplayer game with coop feature so his point at 3:46 doesnt make any sense, most ToF players love it for its MMO aspects and playing with friends and strangers with world chats.
2. 4:50 He is comparing ToF NPC models to playable characters in WuWa, Frigg and Zeke does have a playable model which looks different and has A3 skin which completely looks different to their NPC counterparts. The design choice depends on your preferences because ToF design at 1.0 is futuristic theme while WuWa and HSR design is mostly fantasy theme with bright colors. The most important part is ToF characters are just skin, its your own customizable character is what matters and ToF gives enough freedom with outfits, accessories etc to make your character look good.
3. 8:57 improvement is what mattere. ToF improved so much and learned from their mistakes so it sounds degrading "the damage is already done" when they actively improving the game with QoLs and contents. I agree ToF had an bad launch but using 1.0 ver to trash talk ToF while 3.0 and 4.0 is massively improved is unacceptable.
I agree WuWa has more thoughts put into it and Devs actually fixed and gave players what they want before release but what makes you think there wont be a "Deja Vu" effect for WuWa? There are some players who waiting to find 1 single bad thing about WW and will shit on it endlessy. I would say let people play and enjoy the games they like without drama and not compare with other games.
At least ToF is playable. Even though I have the recommended specs, I can't play the game. I've spent the entire day looking for a solution to the technical problem on PC, but unfortunately, I can't fix it. I missed day 1 because of it.

I doesn't really matter if it's an MMO or singleplayer. If gamers don't see that game as worth their time, they will move on. I have played ToF since the beginning and held on because I had too much to lose (sunk cost fallacy).
With Wuthering Waves coming out. It's new and fresh, so former ToF players like me will spend more of our precious time on WW. Wuthering Waves mastered many aspects of ToF that ToF failed in. Don't get me wrong I still like ToF, but the devs clearly they don't put their heart & soul in the game. I can say this as a hobbyist game dev as well, who sucks at making games admittedly.

Remember when we first played? I couldn't finish a single bounty because everyone kept killing them off.
Nowadays, the server is so empty, soloing bosses is common.
In 1.3, I was in a group of randoms that did a 3 hour long repeated boss rotation. I called the team leader a chad. I was out of chips, so I just force deciphered, but man those were good times, even though the game was bad. I had a lot of fun.

genshin still continues with its bs. still no artifact preset custom loadouts. i saw “custom” loadouts in their developer notes and i was so happy for a moment. then i learned quickly it’s still not what we want. felt betrayed again. how hard is it for them to give us saveable artifact custom loadouts? we already have saveable team loadouts and TCG team card loadouts.
and they’re adding extra 40 resin per day starting next patch. geez, i needed this YEARS ago. too late now. I’m moving on with WuWa. i have given Genshin so many times to improve, but they are just too slow and out-of-touch.

I am back playing ToF 4.0 right now and compared to what I see in this vid it looks superior than this. Haven't seen any combatscene which looked better than what 4.0 ToF characters can do now. Story was also ok, I am not a Meta-Slave so I just play for fun and its fun. WW just looks like a copy of ToF, can't help it... And why compare it to version 1.0 of ToF? What is the point? Older games always looked worse... New games need to compete againt what is there now, not the past.

Stix, one huge factor you missed to mention and should have been at the very beginning is that a CN *FIRST* release f*cked ToF from the start.
Releasing a game on a certain region first while disregarding Global normally doesn't bode well for any game. ToF did that and in freaking CN of all places, yes I know the devs are CN based but they should have went all out and followed Genshin's playbook which is a full simultaneous global release.
There are tons of cons than pros on doing a specific region first release actually the only pro is that it's way cheaper but look at what happened. That's what Kuro took note from Hoyo and look at what WuWa would be achieving now.
Remember the full game is 8pm tomorrow for wuwa i can't wait i want it now 😭😭😭

the funny thing is that even as bad as it is, is stil earning sometimes more than PGR, dont let people pretend PGR doing great.
But wuwa still lacks the one most important thing that tof has - being able to share in all novelties with friends and community real-time and in-game. To me that is one of the most precious. To be able to create those memories with friends.
TLDR: You can’t explore with friends in wuwa. You can’t claim chests and open waypoints together with friends, only host can.
That's why I don't think WuWa will even poach from ToF. I don't think it will even poach many current Genshin players because Genshin just specializes in different things. WuWa will be its own thing, but it doesn't do what Genshin or ToF specialize in better enough to make people quit those games for it.

New player can jump in to ToF 4.0 so what's the point to compare ToF 2022 to WW 2024.In 2022 you can play ToF but no WW, so ToF win. In 2024 ToF's solar punk world looks much better than WW's whatever the f style, ToF win again.

Wuwa knows how to make hardware device requirements fully optimized and safe on average PCs/laptops/mobile. Unlike tof, you just need overkill cpu/graphics card required to make game optimized and playable, but sadly overheating too much and bad to average devices.

Tof is a mmo action /wuwa and genshin are single player action games there you go that's why tof vs genshin doesnt make sense nor does wuwa vs tof plus WuWa is genshin but fucking better they took what's good in genshin fixed what isn't good and gave the players the things they wanted in genshin aka they listen to us ... people doesn't want to play wuwa cuz they invested time and money in the game (genshin)or they just can't let go of their beloved wifus and don't want to miss out on rewards (3pulls for ani btw insane) to get someone in the futur cuz they are just mentally ill bc they played a gacha game that is addictive gachas are just like that in the time where they couldn't even go out

I think comparing a 1.0 character from a game that was made 2 years ago with a game that was made recently isnt a fair comparison. Old games will look bad compared to new one unless the game is really bad from the start.
Graphics and game technology gets better and thus games supposed to get better unless your game programmer isnt experienced in game making.
The only problem I see in Wuwa are the running animation and the character and world design leaning on the more white and grey spectrum making a lot of the character and world feel dull and incomplete.
I do love the combat of Wuwa but much like Punishing Grey is not for everyone as you require relexes and not everyone has time to hon their skills.
Thats why Star Rail works and in a lot of ways better than Genshin. Its combat system doesnt require quick reflexes and is more of a turn base strategy.
And if you got games that are easier for everyone more players will play the game thus the success of Star Rail over its sister game genshin

As someone who quit it the game, the game failed at it's core concept; being a gacha MMO with immense pay to win and horrible fucking servers. Playing the game felt fkn pointless bc you had nothing to grind for like most mmos, bc if you're not spending thousands of dollars a patch like 80% of the player base, you'll NEVER be on even field no matter how much you play.

So true. ToF had a gem and they turned it into a turd purely through mismanagement and greed. I’ve been a PGR player since launch and the game doesn’t even resemble launch now. Kuro has constantly improved it and went above and beyond turning the game into what it is now. Meanwhile ToF went deeper into the trash, doubling down on power creep and greediness as they bled players. It always came off as a cash grab.
ToF is perhaps the most disappointed I’ve been in a game, over decades of expectations from releases. It’s because I loved it so much at launch, and kept trying to love it but it was managed in a way that was so antagonistic to players and they really squandered the chance they had.
I played WuWa CBT1 and even then it was fun. It had its issues and the fact that Kuro didn’t just release it back then, when other companies would have, but rather kept improving it speaks volumes.

I was actually waiting and willing to drop Genshin for ToF but that console port was so absolutely terrible that despite liking the combat much more I couldn’t even deal with it. My breaking point was realizing that they immediately skip most of the ToF story with NO context once you leave the tutorial area and all they give you is a spoopy pre-rendered video.
Add in how weirdly confusing all progression in ToF is and it shot itself in the face long before any competition happened.

Honestly I like the animation better in wuthering waves, but the fighting, not so much. I’m very new to the game but the only reason it feel like they put “elements” in the game is to make some enemies immune. Like actually it’s just kind of annoying. I much prefer the more complex fighting of genshin compared to wuthering waves
