Thanks for watching guys! This horse is actually doing really well considering the laminitis from 4 months ago. X rays don’t show any coffin bone rotation and we expect a full recovery of the hoof capsule in a a few more months.
Let me see if I remember the written portion of my schooling and what was done and why. Bar shoe, with dual toe clips to keep that wall together and allow it to start to grow in again, and maybe a frog plate? To keep the pressure even all across and the frog from pushing and flexing the wall?
I’m a 72 y/o MaMaw from Northern California. Do I watch cooking or sewing channels? Nah, I watch farriers create amazing shoes for horses! Thank you so very much for sharing your excellent skills and for helping this horse recover. Love the video! 🤎🐎🐴
I watch sew channels too. But my favorite is seeing farriers and cow hooves relieving the pain of my friends outside and inside. I trim my big dog’s nails. Sometimes I wish I had someone to help me keep them still. Ferries are amazing .
Aawww, you sound so sweet. Ya, that's me. I'm not a girly girl. I love this stuff, but I'm in Texas on a little piece of land. We used to have a horse, but I'm a retired RN with a disabled back and no longer able to walk without pain, much less ride my horse. So horse gone. I got chickens now. 😅
Actually this is modern hoof caring being done correctly. No going back to the olden days, this is progress. Thank goodness there are people that are continuing this skill. Thank you for taking care of these beautiful animals.
When the response to the question “people often ask me why do I do the difficult thing myself when an easier thing already exists” and part of the answer is “well, I just enjoy it”, you know you’ve got an true expert that’s genuinely passionate and that’s just so awesome. Thanks for all you do!
Love the fact that you are a true blacksmith or forger my son wants to learn how to forge. In fact, he is an Architect and calls his business Forge Design. 😊😊
That got me too!! There's nothing better than traditional ways of doing things..... AND the old original stuff is the good stuff, outlives/outlasts the rest... beautiful to see this process right through.. absolutely incredible human being. God bless you x
You would be stunned to know how intelligent horses are. Once they are working horses they really tune in to their environment and read things very well. They know when someone is there to help, especially if that person knows how to touch and talk with horses. My friend's horses are always trying to outsmart her. They're very clever and sneaky.....
Anybody who asks you why you make custom shoes for a horse has obviously never had custom shoes or boots made for themselves. There is a reason why custom shoes made for people are generally extremely expensive. Custom made shoes are almost always a perfect fit, it doesn't get any better than that. Just like for people, custom shoes made for a horse are a genuine blessing, especially when they are made for a horse. Blessed in the farrier for taking the time to make the best shoes possible. Some farriers I've known don't know how to make shoes from scratch.
Love the repair with help from little girl. Hoof looks great. You really help horses and donkies in need of real attention. I am an addict of your work. Very interesting. You always think of their comfort/how long they can stand and balance while shoeing.
What a joy to see a professional work with this horse. Most of all, I appreciate his problem solving skills and working at the gorge.. Thank you for making a difference in this horse's life! 🤗 💕 🎶
This is an ancient craft and so much better for the horses that have hoof problems. Thank you for learning this valuable trade and passing it on. Very professional and I watch many farriers growing up in 1950’s uk use these same tools in our village blacksmith’s forge. Thank you for caring how these lovely horses can be helped instead of being destroyed.
Excellent work! Truly one of the very best repairs for the situation I've ever seen. Your commentary was a perfect addition especially for the needed understanding of some. This is the difference a talented farrier can make in literally saving a horse. Many thx for your dedication knowledge skill and patience. For the love of horses...
Horses are so fortunate to have you as their friend, I myself do not own a horse but I'm pretty sure I would take care of them better than these people did. Thank you for being there for them.
I admire a ferrier that makes custom shoes and takes pride in their craft. This video is complementary to both the ferrier and the owner/trainer of that stallion. Was a pleasure watching you work and really wish we had a ferrier in our area that could make custom shoes.
Don't know where you are located but you can, in most states, contact the large agricultural colleges and ask who the school knows closest to you who does custom shoes.
I refuse to use any farrier that can’t blacksmith and forge. It is a true talent and those farriers are the most knowledgeable too. Seems to be a lost art in some areas.
So many farriers film with no talking. I'm happy to find one who does talk. I like to hear about what they are doing and why. Thank you for caring for these beautiful animals. 💜
I know nothing about farriers, but the minute I saw you scrapping the inside of those hoofs (it made me squeamish), I was fascinated and couldn't help but continue watching. What a skill that is. The intuitive and visual understanding of the horse's foot seems essential. And the horse was so patient and gentle while you worked. Maybe he is saying to himself, I am relieved to be getting this done. Great video.
Such a joy to watch someone who know what he's doing help an animal do well. And, kudos to the cute little helper, she put love into each stroke on the hoof so it'll heal well.
This is the first time I actually saw a horse being shoed. Very interesting. It certainly requires a lot of skill, but the most important thing is your love for the horses. It comes across in your video. Thank you.😊
Love watching the work you do to help the horses out in any situation they are in. Wish we had farriers like you in north central Wisconsin. Very well behaved blue roan stallion. Glad he will have a full recovery.
I like watching hoof trimming / shoeing videos, (as do many people) but it was especially awesome to see the blacksmith actually made the custom shoes! I don't put a fraction of that care into my own footwear, so I can imagine that horse's owner's really care for him.
Hi what an absolute fantastic job you did on those two front hooves you truly are a great farrier, really enjoyed your video and commentary thank you best wishes sue and family xx♥️♥️👵🏻👴🏻🐶🐾🇬🇧🏴
He’s beautiful and so gentle. He trusts you. You have a good heart and a great talent. What a good boy to stand there all calm so sweet seeing thelittle one helping out learning a trade!
Beautiful work. Such a highly trained and skilled farrier. Enjoyed watching the video and the hoof transformation. Also, a beautiful horse. Glad he'll recover. Appreciate all you do for our equine friends.
I'm a new subscriber from New Zealand. Wow! What an amazing job you did with this beautiful stallion. I love that you work "old school". You have amazing skills! I'm going to binge watch your vids now!!! Kim
Man this is way too much fun to watch! Grew upnon episodes of this old house and the new yankee workshop....then a while back forged in fire was added to the list of guy shows. I could definitely see myself watching a series on horses and farriers! Amazing work on making those shoes by hand and reconstructing that hoof. Also like the info since I know zero about horses.
Thank you for keeping the tradition alive. We will be going back to the olden days with the way the world is heading right now. I told my classmates that we would be going back to the olden days, they all laughed at me. I see the original world coming back. Cheers
Wow what a beautiful job you did on that horses feet. I never realize how amazing and yet hard your job is thank you for sharing your video. Bravo 🎉🎉 Bravo 🎉🎉 Bravo 🎉🎉 well done you ROCK 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
My dad used to be the farrier for the Budweiser Clydesdales. And he also had pulling horses and I had show horses, I was taught as a teenager to shoe my own horses that I showed with my dad’s supervision of course for a few years. I always loved shoeing my own horses then I used to help him with his horses they were Belgians when he was busy working and on the road with the Clydesdale’s. Very interesting work. You are awesome it’s always great to see when the horses are calm.
Hey,again watching your videos 📹 ❤❤, I hope you don't have back problems the way you bend over ,you have a hard job, thank you for helping those horse's 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️God Bless 🙌 ❤️
That stud is beautiful! Glad he will not have any lasting injury to his hooves. Beautiful job, Sir. I love your channel. I don't own horses anymore but I sure do miss them so much. God bless you and yours from Yuma Arizona.
Such an amazing job! And a beautiful boy too, just love watching a master farrier making shoes from scratch, just awesome to watch, loved your little cutie helper at the end, thank you so much for posting, and tbe love and care you give to these beautiful horses, take care.👍💙🐎
@@idahohorseshoeingschool I new it! She looks exactly like you, and she's not afraid of him either, love that, you post, and I will always watch, love your videos, take care 👍💙🐎
Amazing work farriers do. I’m glad I’ve got a good one. My horse developed laminitis, she worked with me, taught me and showed me what was happening w/his hooves as he recovered. Well done. I enjoyed watching your work.
Nice job I ve had many horses but never trimmed the hoofs wasn’t confident enough but I aways cleaned them. You my good man are a master metal craftsman.❤️😎🇺🇸
Thanks for watching guys! This horse is actually doing really well considering the laminitis from 4 months ago. X rays don’t show any coffin bone rotation and we expect a full recovery of the hoof capsule in a a few more months.
Thanks for this comment, 'cause the word "rotate," had me wondering what you didn't want that to happen to. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Let me see if I remember the written portion of my schooling and what was done and why. Bar shoe, with dual toe clips to keep that wall together and allow it to start to grow in again, and maybe a frog plate? To keep the pressure even all across and the frog from pushing and flexing the wall?
I could watch and listen to this all day everyday!
Amazing work, care , artistry, and professionalism. UI R Definitely A Master of Ur Trade.👍
Lol brother you make it look so easy. Is there a reason you hit the anvil before you start? Is it like a drummer counting off? One love

i watch these channels along with cooking, crocheting, knitting, weaving, needle tatting, tapestry, and equestrian channels all the time :)
I watch sew channels too.

I trim my big dog’s nails. Sometimes I wish I had someone to help me keep them still. Ferries are amazing .
Here also. I'm glad I found this one. Thank you for your great video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Well this also means he can make custom shoes for specialty cases, like this pretty boy.
I’m stunned at how calm and trusting that horse is toward you considering the infections and hoof issues. You’re magic 🥰🤗💜

Obviously. I cannot wear mass-market shoes in any country unless they have low-volume, narrow-width shoes.
Thank you for all the information with the video. As a non-horse person who just watches these videos out of interest it helps me understand more.
So nice to see the horse standing on sturdy hooves and walking so well after shoes engaged. Awesome work❤
I've seen this before! I'm just AMAZED at your ABILITY TO HELP OUR BEAUTIFUL BABES!!❤🐎❤️

Absolutely an expert craftsman. These type of farriers are very had to find. He is a credit to the profession.
The dude's an artist at his craft. Beautiful job. Thanks for the upload!!
What a beautiful job you did on this horse.
You're very good at all you do. Enjoy watching.👍
Well done. It's nice to see a farrier put in a thrush treatment before putting on packing material.
This type of foot repair never fails to amaze me. Farriers in my opinion are part of a Noble profession.

Beautiful work and lovely kids. Happy Thanksgiving.

You must be a kind and caring person. You said it best. You enjoy your custom shoes.
To hear it step twice on front hooves sounded like clunk clunk, plus had its back hoof up on the outer tip. What a great job u did!!
Work of art - and of knowledge and expertise.
If he hasn't been sedated then he is the most well behaved stallion ever. Really interesting video.
