Hahaha😆😆😆 , that's true. Three decades ago when i was a young local uni student, an angmoh professor once said this about the economic miracles of 亚洲四小龙: "It has less to do with inspiration (working smart), but more to do with perspiration (long working hours)"。
Okay, let’s take this topic a little bit further. The world of AI is progressing faster than ever. Is the culture of long working hours or working hard in Singapore still practical and competitive? Just curious.
@@drjennyli When the Industrial Revolution started a century ago, everyone was saying back then that it will free up a lot of time for us to enjoy ourselves and some even worried about what we are going to do with so much free time. You know it did not happen and in fact we are working harder than ever with technology advances especially with the invention of the internet. Let me first give you some examples you can relate to. If you have an empty space in your house, do you have the tendency to fill that space up with something, maybe a furniture or ornament？ Do you know anyone who can sit still quietly and do nothing, maybe spaced out or meditate when they are free or in public transport? Have you ever work or know anyone who has work in a company who is very comfortable with their profits and will not increase their sales targets and workload every year? What has this got to do with AI? I think you might know the answer by now. Technology is agnostic. It will help you to simplify your work and free up your time but it cannot decide for you what you need to do in your free time. Maybe AI can give you some suggestions but that’s about it. The biggest problem that humans have is that they cannot sit still and be quiet with themselves. Driven by internal greed and dopamine, they need to have more and to be stimulated all the time by external events. Humans need to change their behaviours, thinking and habits in order to elevate their lives but that would require an elevation of their consciousness. One century ago, we associate rich elites with a certain graceful lifestyle and lots of leisurely activities. We can see that in old films and pictures. What do we see now with technological advances? Rich elites advocating getting rich asap and their superpower of working overtime with just 4 hours of sleep. Everything needs to be fast and should have been completed yesterday and we advocate having better technology to do that. Mental health is a big issue everywhere and even rich people are committing suicides. It’s a vicious cycle and only ourselves and not technology like AI can help us break this cycle. @@drjennyliallow me, industrial revolution 1, 2, human didn't really get more free time but has to put in more time at work.
So the AI revolution should not deviate much from the past experience.
We are not a Chinese society. We are Singaporeans. Any foreigners, including from PRC, needs to understand this distinction.

sorry singapore is not a chinese society. 1st things not done via kuanxi. 2ndly dispute is resolve by law, thru reasoning and if possible empathy. chinese is empathy 1st with reasoning n resort to law last. if chinese coming thinking and acting so, u will have a hard time here.

我是福建人，我不承認我是CHINESE（華人），CHINESE在百度翻譯是中國人, 是中國這個國家的人民，不是指民族。因爲我不是中國的人民，也不誕生在中國。如果你是馬來西亞的福建人，你只能說自己是馬來西亞人，民族是福建人，如果你是馬來西亞的西藏人或維吾爾人，你就說自己是馬來西亞的藏族或維吾爾族，以此類推。
華語對我來説是外語，第二門語言，就如我也會英文，你不能夠說我是洋人吧。
如果有福建人說流利的英語，他們會說他是假洋鬼子，福建人說流利的日語，他們會說他是二鬼子。爲什麽福建人說流利的普通話，你們不說他是假華人？
道理很簡單，因爲華人本來就是假的，是虛構的民族。你不能把假的東西再說他是假的。
這個邏輯你能明白嗎？
在記者會有記者問馬來西亞部長是30年來首位華人部長，有什麽感想？
馬來西亞部長林冠英当年就以英語說了：”I am sorry, I don't consider myself as a Chinese, I am a Malaysian”。

She was originally from Sichuan China, but she has gratefully accepted Singaporean citizenship and settled down happily in Singapore with her family. After watching a video uploaded by her 7 days ago, i find her to be an awe-inspiring example of a foreigner who has assimilated exceptionally well into Singaporean society. She has also been candid about the push factors in China and the pull factors about Singapore that made her determined to sink roots in Singapore

Chinese = 中國人 = 中國這個國家居住的人民，就如果American = 美國人 = 美國這個國家居住的人民。
中國人，美國人，印度人，它們都不是民族，它是指這個國家的人們，一個國家可以有很多不同的民族居住，就如美國有德國裔美國人，日籍美國人，有印第安人。

中華民族，華人chinese 是虛構的民族，如果說馬來西亞的福建人是Chinese，那麽就變成了馬來西亞的中國人民了，這就混淆身份了。

看看維基百科對中華民族的解釋，中華民國對中華民族是沒有官方定義，爲什麽？因爲虛構的民族沒有辦法定義
維基百科：中华民族，是在中国的重要民族主义与政治概念，在晚清由梁启超首次提出。以中华民族将中国建立为民族国家的思想，称为中华民族主义或中国民族主义。
在中华民国，中华民族并没有官方定义，可以视为由汉、满、蒙、回、藏、西南边疆民族、台湾原住民及其他民族为组成。
什麽叫“可以視爲”？就是你自己決定，全都是政治忽悠，欺騙，和謊言子孫一個樣。
所以中國從謊言子孫，華夏民族，漢族，支那人，中華民族，華人，中國人，就是不同時代瞎攪蠻纏的政治忽悠。
Chinese只能是中國人專用，Chinese = 中國的人民。華人是虛構的民族，應該走人歷史
国际法上 国族(nation)与种族（ethnic group)需要会分
法律上 华族（汉族），马来族，藏族，蒙古族，是种族(ethnic group) .
中国人（中华民族）， 新加坡人， 马来西亚人，美国人，日本人，都是以国籍为单位的国族（nation)
Dr Jenny 完全没有广东腔, 普通话说得捧, 大陆人应很容易融入, 从靠关系進入比较公开的社会, 处世态度不一样也比较公平.
