Rsr works. You can enable it to work on windows mode in the amd adrenaline app. You can use the overlays to see when its enabled.

@@IMGhostRogue awesome. I think my biggest point of contention may be the RSR bit. However you can confirm it is not indeed working through AMD Software.
Going into these videos at least for the Ally, it needs to be looked at as "docked" & "undocked" play in my opinion.
Likely you will not be running 25w on battery, or if you were. Not for very long.
As you have a couple of options. Either find a balanced set of graphical options that look good on the small and big screen (if docking) then just enjoy 30-40 handheld then 60 + docked/plugged in.
Or you can set all of it to low in the name of performance.
The other option could be to have two different graphical settings for docked/undocked mode. Something pretty looking while docked, then some of the settings dialed back while undocked. But that's too much work for me to go into settings and change it, beyond the resolution.

Going from high to medium textures greatly impacts in game image quality so that’s another reason to not set 8GB GFX memory. Also your charts show only a 5% slower performance at 1080p 25w mode and looks better imo why not recommend that?

    • @WinDeckTech
      @WinDeckTech  Рік тому

For me personally, I would rather have the higher 1% lows. If I'm playing handheld I will typically go 720p. Docked, 1080p all day.
Knowing that kyov. Is not the most demanding area (I chose it for consistency) this should give you the best buffer to combat intense encounters. Ultimately though, you can choose what is best for you. In order to achieve similar results we need to drop it down to fsr performance which can look a lot worse in motion compared to 720p.

So champ! I play pretty much always plugged in full 30watt. Then you would recommend I switch to 8gb in AC, when I play Diablo? I’m about to go heavy on Diablo 4 cause the season starts. Could u maybe give me the best recommended settings? While I play plugged full turbo. 🙏🏻 Never actually found out about that 4gb 8gb or auto. I’ve just ran at 4gb.

    • @WinDeckTech
      @WinDeckTech  Рік тому +1

Honestly, like you said. IF you always play docked full turbo 1080P with some settings turned up. 8GB will be better, this happens in COD as well, if you turn up the graphics.
I haven't tested this recently however it should still stand true. As per settings you can follow what I used in the guide at 1080P 30W locked. 30/30/53 Fan preset number 3 and you should be gravy. Fan will be louder but you will not thermally throttle.

Lmfao I've been waiting for someone to call me up on that.
I would say, obviously stay within your budget first and foremost.
If you were only planning on spending 400 or so (think the SD is 350 USD) so compared to the Ally at 699 obviously it's untouched in price.
With the 64gb you do need to upgrade the internal storage imo. Which is another 50-150 depending on how large you want to go.
You get the benefit of 512 in the ally, but that is still relatively small nowadays.
Now, if you were to only have one. Ally all day.
By one I mean, one game console/PC. If you already have a pretty decent computer and are just looking for something to play through a bit of your backlog with, I'd say steam deck.
Obviously performance is a concern on the SD, however in some respect, it can be for the Ally as well. In terms of games coming out and everything switching to unreal engine 5, we just don't have a good idea yet how those titles are going to perform. We have a sneak peak at it with Fortnite and things are promising on both devices.
Steam deck has benefits in a lot more community/developer support but a lot of those devs that were working on steam deck windows stuff have now opened up to the Ally and others.
So we have some cool indie devs giving stuff like handheld companion. I'd say it's catching up, but still miles away in terms of the steam deck.
I do find the steam deck to be more comfortable to hold and play at any angle. The Ally I find you need to have it at a specific angle to be comfortable. Not to say the ally isn't uncomfortable, it just isn't as form fitting as the Steam Deck I think.
Speakers on the ally are phenomenal, the Sudo spatial audio that takes place is honestly superb.
Steam deck has good speakers as well, but I would say the Ally's are more rich and the stereo effect is much better.
Steam deck wins in SD card placement, they don't seem to be roasting cards like the ally does.
Finally long term support for the Ally is in question, people want it to be treated like the SD however I'm sure Asus just sees it more as a laptop. They will support it, but not to the extent that valve is with the SD.
Sorry if this is all out of order I'm just writing things out as they come to me.
At the end of the day it comes down to:
      Price
Expected use case (I do find that once you get one of these you use your PC a little less at the start but then find a good balance)
Performance expectations (if you are the type of person to crank settings and get max fps then the ally is obviously the way to go)
One final note, the screen on the ally is infinitely better in my opinion, it's not perfect, it seems a little to blown out at times but you can adjust the display settings with presets.
Again sorry for the mismatched list/response.
I hope it helps, please let me know if you do decide to get either or!

      It all depends… I have both…
If you want longer battery life, want a 16:10 display, more console like get the steam deck. If you want more power, want to play newer emulators nd have a better screen get the ally.
      I have both… I love both… I’m patient and like tinkering…
I like emulating ps3 and switch… so ally is what I’m currently using, also have the xg mobile 6850… so when I dock it I can play 2k 60fps most games…
But I still love the steam deck and believe it’s great… for my younger brother I would never get the rog ally…
The steam deck is a better console experience and has a great community…

The Ally imho ! Atm. I play spiderman remastered and diablo 4.. which both runs amazing and are amazing games. Then for example an older game like gta 5 is running so good 120fps. I mean at this point I dont understand who would want to buy the steam deck over the ally.. The ally does require some pc knowledge though.. And I think thats the problem for alot of people.. Its not just plug and play.. But when u optimize it etc. Its a beast. I havent had any issues besides I think the sticks are a little bit to loose. But cant wait for all the accessories to roll out.

Honestly it depends on your budget.
If you already have a pretty good gaming system I would go with the steam deck.
However if you are looking to game more on the go or just need/want more power. Then the Ally is the way to go.
Obviously the steam deck can't be matched in terms of price, but if you were already going to spend for the top end deck model, I would suggest spending the extra 50 and getting the Ally.
