The fires from the Fire Koopa Clown Car destroy the brick blocks trapping Mario. He could also try to call Luigi using the multiplayer button just above Play, but end up having another Maker join in with the original Maker, making things twice as hard for him.
I think either mario or the maker switching the editor to night mode to catch the other off-guard while they're utilising course elements could be fun (e.g. mario placing goombas, maker switches editor to night, goombas float towards mario)

Unfair: shells are still active even if you pause the level and can knock out a random button every time it reaches it so now you better think fast when you pause it
One of the fireballs breaks a brick block which Mario escapes from and selects a see-saw. Mario uses one of the hammers to defeat the pokey causing the bill blaster to land on the see-saw and fling the maker into the air, breaking the toolbar.
Idea: Mario dodges the hand for long enough to give himself a starman powerup, dealing some damage to the hand and the level before the hand removes Mario’s powerup
Mario gets the link power up, then knocks out the maker to then set up a trap of bob-ombs and then escapes to endless easy, so the maker makes a easy level then when Mario gets it, he makes it super hard.
one of those summoned enemies accidentally breaks out Mario from his prison. Whether the fire from the clown car or the hammer from the hammer bro. Or more comedically, the hammer bro falls down and gets poked by the pokey and gets shot into the wall, opening a way for Mario to get out.
Idea: Mario gets three 30 coins and a 10 coin to get a one up to prevent the rotten mushroom getting back. Then maker gets a skewer and throws it at mario but misses, and destroys some of the level, then mario goes into course world.
mario grabs the cursor and rides it like a wolf to fly towards the end but the maker enabels two player mode and the other cursor picks up mario and drops him in a hole
Idea: Mario, while in front of a pipe, throws a bomb at the hand, who holds out another pipe to catch the bomb and make it come out of the pipe next to Mario
