And this is why rates are what they are. If customers knew the cost of equipment. But 90% of the time I use my uscan and tablet. Just need to read codes, see live data.
Man don’t take this the wrong way. But your Snap On man isn’t informing you right! You do not get penalized for missing updates. I’ve been with Snap On for 8 years and not once has any of my customers ever been penalized for not updating there tool. I wish people wouldn’t misinform the public on this matter! Call Snap On Diagnostics your self and ask them to explain this to you in detail please! Thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
Can you do a video showing the difference between live data and scope speed and why you prefer one over the other.....the 2.0 seems like a really solid scanner
Thanks Frank, very good review. I did give a thumbs up lol Scanners are so expensive now. I need one for my 2020 X3M-C for a "Driver's side sear restraint" warning light smh... Just not sure which scanner will even work on the thing. I've tried like 5 scanners so far and none of them can reset that code. Will one of these work? Thanks again.
Love the video I have the maximus 2.0 I haven't use it in about 3yr so I did do an update from online but now my Bluetooth won't connect any suggestions I appreciate any help you can give thank you for time on this the vci won't pair
Hi Frank, you did a great job comparing both of your scanners. Thanks for the whole bunch of information. I only wished you had the AUTEL MaxiSys MS908 Pro or MaxiSys Elite included in the comparison. The AUTEL tools are great also and you should try working with the MS908 Pro or the Elite and let us know what you think compared to the two which you already have. Please keep up the good job. Thumbs up !!!
Not even close, I have the autel maxi sys Ellie which is better then the 908P nevermind the cheaper 906. The snap on fills the holes the autel has plus the scope is 10x better than the autel. I own both I know
frank referred to your channell by Bruce Allen, I am close to buying a diy scan tool was looking at the Launch touch pro 5.0 500.00 and recently crp pro 229 which doyou prefer i thought Launch updates were free but i was informed it is free for a year then 200.00 for software updates can you clear this up which do you prefer
Does the Matco have EPB service capability? I'm having a difficult time finding a scan tool with Electronic Parking Brake servicing capability. Some of not most scanners only do a few cars. I don't want to buy multiple scanners for different cars. I also don't want to pay for european and Japanese updates separately. That's were snap on gets you.
Yes, the Matco scanner do have the capability to do EPB. The Matco scanner is the same as a Launch scanner. The update is one payment for the update for the year. But, any update software that comes out for that year you can update your scanner for that one payment.
Awesome and helpful video. Thank you. Lately I've been working on cars that got some flood damage. We are switching fuse boxes out in many of them but when this takes place, the immobilizer kicks in and doesn't accept the new fuse box. Which one of the scanners is able to reprogram or recode the new fuse box so that it can be used and the vehicle will start?
None of these scanners can reprogram modules. You would need a Jbox and laptop to do reprogram any modules. If you need more info on that i can point you to New level Auto. He do alot of that and can give you alot more info. ua-cam.com/users/ONBOARDTECH333KMD
Bit of a dumb question but here goes. The battery life on my Verus at the moment is terrible. In the meantime is it safe to be charging the tool from mains electric 'while' using the Verus for scoping ignition, injectors whatever? Thanks.
I know this video is 4years old at this point so I imagine you’ve moved to newer models. Have you used the Matco MaxFlex scanner yet? Just ordered it yesterday rep is saying it should be here next week. Is there much of a difference between the maxflex and the 2.0 you’ve got in this video?
Getting ready to buy one. My guys got a 2.0 used for 2200 or a deal on a brand new 3.0 for 3900, Have you used the 3.0 yet I think I wanna go with that one
Frank M Tech yeh sure thing, right now I’ve got the 2.0 as a loaner for a week and I’m really liking it so I’m thinking for the price difference and added features it’s worth it to get the 3.0. Been using the snap on solus for the past few years and it hasn’t been updated since 2015 and so far the matco blows that out the water
I think they are both great scanners. Either one would be good. If you are looking at the Matco scanner you should look at the launch scanner which is the same scanner and cheaper too.
Frank M Tech thanks bro im lookin into gettin the matco one hes giving me a good deal 1800 for the scanner and he said he’ll give me the latest update for free
The Matco does hd to which is a huge plus to me and there Cummins software is amazing the snap on you have to buy a whole separate scanner and there hd software is useless
Wow, your snap-on dealer is beating you over the head. My snap on dealer gets 695 for an update and 895 if you miss one or more. Even if you miss 3 years of updates the up charge maxes out at $200. In addition the subscription is only 13 a week and then you never have to worry about updates, I don't know about the rest of you guys but i spend $13 a week in a lot worse ways been keeping my scanner updated
Great vid hermano. I love maximus runs circles around snapon for european... But nothing beats autologic for bmw and mercedes. Go get you one!!! Ps. That edge up on point
Verus Edge, Verus, Matco maximus 2.0, Matco hand held scanner, Alldata tablet with a scanner, Autel TPMS with scanner, and a China version Launch in my tablet. LOL It's a lot but i have to have all my info in hand so i can fix these cars quick. Cuz' i run this shop by myself.
Have a part2 comparison video ? Let see Snap on Vs Maximus Vs Autel Vs Launch. Our channel have many Launch video and Launch have nice features with better cheaper price, free to check it.
Nobody talks about snap on doesn’t even cover Lamborghini, ferarri, Bentley, rolls royce, and if you don’t update snap on scanners are junk, I got my autel that blows my Verus edge out the water. Sad cause nearly 1/4 the cost
Yea, Snap On scanners don't cover the high end cars. But, launch and auto logic do. Snap on are good for there domestic vehicles but, even that they don't give you all the info you need for some cars.
Yeah I’m finding without newest up to date snap on software it’s a tablet with generic obd function and occasional useful bidirection function, also if you don’t pay for update your scanners abilities of scanning newer cars goes away because without update no new info for the cars, snap on is the only pay to play diagnostic tool and for a daily tech I don’t see it valuable enough to invest in scanner and updates
Frank M Tech -hiI am old school mechanic simple old cars years ago, so Do you think with these scaners Can I to put my own mechanic shop as a general mechanic? for fix new models or all type open cars by myself, and learn ne thinks about new cars?If somebody know any info can will help thank you youtubers!!

So Erick if I buy a used snap on scanner that hasn't been updated for let's say 3 years. What would be the steps to take to update it?
The trailblazer.. gm really squeezed that platform. Chevy, GMC, Oldsmobile, Isuzu, Saab, and SUBARU all had a version of it.
Can you do a video showing the difference between live data and scope speed and why you prefer one over the other.....the 2.0 seems like a really solid scanner

My only complaint with the Maximus is that you have to pay for the pdf format for health checks if you don’t wanna use the md printer.

Hi, thank you for this video, I want to know how to program tpms with verus edge.
Thank you
Thinking of buying a snap on scanner, will it still work if i don't update?
Yes it will still work
Is it true that you can use the launch pad scanners as a normal tablet as well?
Autel MS906BT will blow these away when it comes to vehicle coverage
I've been looking at the Autel unit myself. Where's the best place to get one??
Not even close, I have the autel maxi sys Ellie which is better then the 908P nevermind the cheaper 906. The snap on fills the holes the autel has plus the scope is 10x better than the autel. I own both I know
Really need all 3 and then still might run into problems
I got a snap on verus 1st generation and I change the setting under power management and boot up in 2:30 second and is not laggi anymore

What do you do when the scanners are not give you the answer you're looking for where do you go for technical support
I have Alldata for all my info and types of specs.
LOL!!!! Or UA-cam!!
This scanner can program tire sensors and program the airbag system when you are changed?
Good comparison Frank, nicely done.

would have a hard time forgetting the snap on one. I imagine the matco obd bridge would get left in someones car! its so small!
The Matco scanner have a sound that goes off when you exit the program so you don't forget the connector.
Getting ready to buy one. My guys got a 2.0 used for 2200 or a deal on a brand new 3.0 for 3900, Have you used the 3.0 yet I think I wanna go with that one

@@2491kridge The Matco 2.0 blows the snap on solus out the water. Faster and easier to work with.
I have a snap on verus. Was wondering if it can do enable start after crash for Mercedes? Tried to find it couldn’t. Do you know? Thanks
how is the matco for gm and ford?
The Matco are good with both of them.
Which scanner is better out of the matco one and the autel scanner

Agree maximus 3.0 covers f250 my international 9900i and my new model farm tractor.
Do they do both Do ECU Programming and/or Key coding?

Are they both bi-directional scanners & can you get obd1 connectors for these scanners.
Yeah, both of these scanners are bi-directional and they both come with obd 1 adapters.
Autel?
Have you used the modis? I found one for $800 with the latest software update.
A Peterson Modis is a good scanner. Which Modis you are looking at. The one with 4 channel scope or the one with the 2 channel scope
Frank M Tech not sure if it has a scope or not I'll have to look into it. I sent you an email by the way.
Great vid hermano. I love maximus runs circles around snapon for european... But nothing beats autologic for bmw and mercedes. Go get you one!!! Ps. That edge up on point
Good review man, keep it up!
Thankz!!! Will do.
I think snap on is loosing the edge
Hi frank keep we you video good luck
How many scanners do you own?
Verus Edge, Verus, Matco maximus 2.0, Matco hand held scanner, Alldata tablet with a scanner, Autel TPMS with scanner, and a China version Launch in my tablet. LOL It's a lot but i have to have all my info in hand so i can fix these cars quick. Cuz' i run this shop by myself.
Any thoughts on Maximus 3.0? Ive got one in my hands as DEMO but I am pondering on pulling the trigger on it.
What did you do?
Thank you very much good job I like the way you explained very clear God bless you my friend
You hair is on point nice line up

Olds saying from tool dealers" If it's not snap on it's sh$t " hahahaha 😂😂😂😎😎😂 but now other tools bands is kicking Snap On butt
Yea, Snap on is getting too expensive. Snap on is not the only company out there that are making great tools. LOL

He didn't mention the Lexus bc they don't need repairs.😁😆😅
Dam my matco guy is charging me $1200 for just the software update
Snap on verus edge is regular computer is real faster
DO NOT BUY MATCO MAXIMUS ! THE QUALITY IS HORRIBLE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXTREMELY BAD. TRUST ME . YOU WILL REGRET AFTER !
