    Another alternative to a punch cradle is a fairly thick hardcover book. Open to about the center and place your signature in the spine area just as if it was the cradle. Works really easy!!

    I'd suggest you use a bulldog clip to hold the opposite side so the signatures stop twisting about & you wouldn't need to adjust their position all the time

    If you used a needle at both ends to sew the top and bottom of each signature before moving on to the next signature, I believe your signatures would be more equal and secure than doing all the bottom then all the tops. Just my thought, anyway, I love your book and plan to make some of my own. Thanks! Cheers!!

    What a beautiful tutorial! Thank you for explaining so good, step by step. Thank you for thinking also of those people that don't have all the facilities and occupy their last years "playing" with their hands and papers. Thank you with all my heart.

    Thank you for this easy to follow video. I like to make myself a journal for each holiday we take and I like to learn new techniques of book binding to make each one a little different. Your video was so easy to follow and I now have a beautiful button hole stitched book for my next holiday. I don’t think this will be the last one I make either. 😀

    I was hoping you could give me advice on how to trim the right edge of the book without trimming the cover on this. I'm trying to make 8 of these with 5 signatures each, but the edges are too uneven to flip through the book. I wonder if I should try to trim each signature before I bind them, or bend back the covers and trim all of them at once after I bind them. What think you?

    • @carolinelabbott2451
      @carolinelabbott2451 9 місяців тому +1

      Trim each signature before you bind them.
      Much easier this way and will match more accurately.
      I tried to neaten the edges after binding and it ended up looking worse. I was using a scalpel as I have no guillotine.
      If you have a guillotine then it is easier to trim the edges after it is sewn together.
