LeRoy Paulsen you do know star wars ripped from several movies right? I don't mean to start any great debates or arguments its just I would compare this to star wars I would compare star wars to other things.
I still don't know what's up with the Toronto Blue Jays hat... he was wearing a Montreal Canadiens hat in another video. Maybe he just likes Canada? Yay!
You reference that this game isn't an original idea and seem to imply that there may be a better version of this theme out there. Can you please name them? I really like this idea.
I see the arts and while I do not consider them top notch, I can feel it is very artistic. To me it looks as if they wanted to write a story for a cartoon, just like Rebellion rewrites the old trilogy. And that way I feel players are part of this story. I am considering to buy it. * Update. I bought the game, and I really liked it. It is quite an intellectual challenge. It is true that you either win or lose. But there is a way to have a performance score which allows you to compare your previous performance with the new game you played. However, to calculate this you will need to do some tracking to have the numbers at the end of the game. It is very simple and it will change the experience in the game. This feels too similar to Star Trek Panic to me... although it focuses on the ship interior and has a bit more variety. The artwork though kills it for me.
This must be a reprint because our copy looks a bit different. edit: NM I should watch till the end. We have the gamecrafter version. after a few plays we can win on normal pretty regularly. I agree that some character combos are far superior than others.
First of all, on the artwork, it looks good for the style, but that style isn't my cup of tea. That being said, this looks like it could be a really fun game. If I get it, though, I'd get the Game Crafter version because the components look to be of better quality even if I do have to sit there and put stickers on bits.
When I started designing this game, none of those games existed. It was heartbreaking watching all of them (and some you didn't mention) get to market ahead of me. But what can you do?
Amusingly enough, I was scanning through the Kickstarter page as I listened to Tom critiquing the art, and lo and behold, I see a quote from "the Dice Tower" offering lavish praise for the artwork. The quote on the Kickstarter page reads, "The artwork is fantastic. I'd hang that on my wall as a poster." I gotta say I'm not a fan of the art style either. Just meh... Maybe the gameplay will make up for that though.
The quote you mention includes a link to the review, it's by Gamer's Remorse, not Tom Vasel. Maybe that was not your intention, but you make it sound like they are lying or being dishonest on their page. I don't think they are.
Not to mention that, although the overall art style hasn't changed, the specific style of the cards has changed quite a lot from its original Kickstarter design. For the worse in my opinion; I'm glad to have the original version.
I made no accusation of lying. They did indeed cite a review posted by the Dice Tower. I would suggest, if pressed, that it is an example of a certain level of misleading advertising (and something I think I heard the guys complaining about just a few days ago). It would have been more honest to cite "Gamer's Remorse," as "Dice Tower" implies Tom Vasel, and those that did not follow the link would be excused for coming away with the wrong impression. But technically and legally they were completely accurate. Misleading, but technically accurate. But, again, I made no actual accusation. All I said was that I found it amusing to have the two juxtaposed on my computer at the same time.
Great way of not making an accusation. You believe they are misleading, you make a comment about it, but it's not a formal "accusation". You should be a politician. I mean, technically, you didn't accuse anyone. If pressed, I'd say you want people to think they are using misleading advertisement, though. So, technically and legally, you didn't accuse anyone. Implied it, but technically didn't "make" an accusation.
Well pedantically, my comment about the misleading nature of the quote was only in response to your post; as a way to make further conversation. Because I enjoy a polite discussion of this and that. My original post contains no accusation, no implication, and no innuendo of any sort. It was merely an observation on me reading something that Tom directly contradicted at the exact moment I was reading it. I found it amusing. Obviously, your mileage may vary. :)
Actual Omega retro != good. Anyway, if they were going for retro style there is plenty of old sci-fi to choose from that doesn't look like the lawnmower man's vomit.
Thanks for the honest review Tom. I am of course biased, but even I agree with some of your negative points.
Do you have an email or way to contact? I'd love to hear how you went from initial design to producing it so that anyone can buy it.
Joe Price thank you so much. I sent you an email
Contrary to what I'm seeing on here, just thought I'd comment that I really enjoy the art style
MyMiniMovieMagic that’s why it caught my attention! I bought it after seeing it twice
I also really like the plastic standees. I normal hate standees but the clear plastic is fantastic.
Lol love the bootleg Star Wars theme during the component drop
LeRoy Paulsen you do know star wars ripped from several movies right? I don't mean to start any great debates or arguments its just I would compare this to star wars I would compare star wars to other things.
I was commenting on the music that was playing during the component drop. Not the theme of the game itself.
Narrowly missed copyright music strike like Han and Chewie dodged laser blasts in Ep. IV - VI.
@@repeataftermeme75 So, not only did you NOT read their original comment... But you decided to get mad about something unrelated too?
Good lord.

He was probably talking about Red November or Police Precinct.

What are the differences from the game crafter version?
this started out on gamecrafter, glad it got published by a bigger name
Just bought this at PAX Unplugged, itching to try it out
this would make a really great video game done by the right people
Look at catastronauts, pretty similar idea and great game with friends
It is already a videogame in Steam. It is a great game.
Like the blue jays hat man!!

some crackle on the audio?
Looks like a lot of fun.
Reminds me of the pc game made to look like a board game called Tharsis.
do you think this could have been themed as a "pirate/GB imperium ship being attaked by the other and avoid the kind of boosted theme?
When I started designing this game, none of those games existed. It was heartbreaking watching all of them (and some you didn't mention) get to market ahead of me. But what can you do?
Good overview
Great video! Nice hat too!
'Coward' to 'Insane'? Why not 'Ludicrous speed'?
Rebels...."warp"....what? Blasphemy. I think you meant "jump to hyperspace". 😏
Yeah, I figured someone would catch my mispoken words.
Captain James T. Skywalker of the Serenity uses stargates.
Hey, apparently you realized it prior to posting so all is forgiven 😃. Just kidding...great review.
Nonsense, he clearly meant "engaging chevrons"... Or was that light speed?
Seems like this would suffer from alpha gamer extremely bad
Most Co-ops do. I wouldn't say this one fares any worse than pandemic.
I just bought the Game Crafter version, because those AEG standees are a joke.
Why is this rated for ages 14+?
Look like x com style board gamr

Yikes, that art is some of the worst I've ever seen.
Philip Leo could not agree more
Yea I figured when AEG picked it up they would have fixed the art. Sadly they didn't change much.
Actual Omega retro != good. Anyway, if they were going for retro style there is plenty of old sci-fi to choose from that doesn't look like the lawnmower man's vomit.
was going to reply myself... but you got this. Its a mess.
Some of the best art I’ve seen. Love it!
fun game but i bought this 2x the price on the market. lesson learn is check online price before buy in store.
