+1000FOF sqrt(2)*sqrt(2) is of course 2 and since we already know that two is company but three's a crowd, it follows that company = disappointment and disappointment + 1 = a crowd.
+TrankWithAnR This. Is. PARKER! *does calculations in trash bins* You should see the Numberphile where Brady followed him around while he explained the present to those they think will be watching in the future. Search for Why 1980 was a great year to be born...but 2184 will be better.
Giving your binder calculator a hug is one of the best decisions you will make in your life, it has been very useful in emergency calculations where all I have is a bin.
Was I the only one who thought that picking up the ball and solving the maze was a great way to demonstrate the use of higher dimensions to solve spatial problems?
+Mark G What? The best writers on the Simpsons, or my favorite, Futurama were Mathematicians. Mathematicians have a great sense of humor... though some are a bit anti-social to show it xD
+CCcrafted That's what I thought too, it's hilarious to think of him bringing that calculator on the plane and then to the beach to film it being washed away.
My phone calculator passes all the accuracy tests and it's the most portable. Joke's on you Mrs. Redman, remember when you said "You won't always have a calculator with you when you grow up!"? FOOL!
The problem with the maze on the last calculator is that the maze might distract you from doing your maths. Are they saying math isn't entertaining enough?
I love the calculator unboxings. My favorite line by far was about the little professor, "If you take this anti-calculator and smash it into a normal calculator at very high speed they will annihilate one another and emit a photon."
Hahahah the wave washing up to the calculators... that means Brady brought that calculators with him to the Maldives for the express purpose of taking those shots. This makes me quite happy.
First, the calculator unboxing videos are great comic relief! Absolutely wonderful. Second, the ruler on the side of the calculator is in my opinion INCREDIBLY useful! At my desk I usually use things like books or a mouse mat or any small box lying around to draw straight lines. This one measures things as well! Very useful.
Matt Parker's comedic relief pleases me. Now back to my trash can to do long division on the back of used napkins. If only there was a device I could use in such a location...
When I was in the Navy, I had a pen with one of those little ball mazes in it. I used it so much when I was bored I ended up calling it my time machine. Third calculator has a special place in my heart.
+alloria No thanks, most mathematicians are super-serious enough already - it's refreshing to see mathematicians and other scientists on Numberphile actually have fun and fool around.
I passed this up initially because I thought it would be boring, and only clicked on this because I was that desperate to avoid my project. Imagine my surprise to find one of the funniest video's I've ever seen. Fantastic work!
These are my favorite unboxing videos on the whole internet. Let not the fact that I don't watch other unboxing videos detract from the meaningfulness of that statement.
I used to have a similar flexible calculator. I practically "ate" that thing when I was in 5th grade. That thing was in my mouth through half the class. I was gnawing on it. The circuitry and front and back silicone sheets separated. I'd gnaw on that thing for ages. And it still worked. Pretty sure the thing is still lying around in the barn now, and if I popped some new batteries in there, it'd work. Those flexy calculators are extremely durable, but if you're anything like me, you won't settle for anything less than carrying your TI-NSpire CX calculator around with you everywhere. Also I giggled at the "NSFW" part. Ahh, if you knew me well enough... xD
LOL "20489..... yep". The sarcasm of these videos is some next level stuff.
+SmarterEveryDay LOL the "75 divided by 14 subtract 5 multiplied by 14 test".
+SmarterEveryDay its got a ruler so you can measure how long you've been calculating for😂
+SmarterEveryDay Wait a second, Destin I expected you to have heard about the 75 divided by 14 subtract 5 multiplied by 14 test.
reply if you take apart calculators for fun
comedy with a mix of calculators
2 square root x 2 square root = disappointment
+1000FOF
What? That is exactly what they teach you in maths classes nowadays ...
+CeaoS k
+1000FOF
sqrt(2)*sqrt(2) is of course 2 and since we already know that two is company but three's a crowd, it follows that
company = disappointment
and
disappointment + 1 = a crowd.
Yes. In this case: √2 × √2 ≤ disappointment. Fact.
+standupmaths You forgot the Bling calculator I sent :(
Do the "1+2+3+4+5... = -1/12" test.
+Horror Versions ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
+Horror Versions Calculators don't do wrong cesaro multiplications.
even i felt pain for that
'Doesn't work in any size bin, unless you give it a hug' 😂😂😂
Don't tell the chemistry department.
ahahah
Do you have to hug the calculator? Or the bin?
there is actually a way to make that work. the calculator just has to recalculate the calculation before and then it would be fine.
Have you seen some things, which tell you.....
Doesn't work in a bin, unless you give it a hug (Hg) in a pub (Pb)?
I never thought that one day i would watch a calculator unboxing...
You should watch the rest of them. They are hysterical.
The others are more funny.
+jpchevron i'm disappointed with this unboxing :(
#Bamboo
austininflorida Will do on my free time!
This isn't your average every-day sarcasm.
This is...
Advanced sarcasm.
+TrankWithAnR It's called British humor.
+TrankWithAnR
This.
Is.
PARKER!
*does calculations in trash bins*
You should see the Numberphile where Brady followed him around while he explained the present to those they think will be watching in the future. Search for Why 1980 was a great year to be born...but 2184 will be better.
banter I believe they call it
+Isacc142 British humor is no laughing matter.
+Isacc142 what is British humor
This was phenomenal. Please make many many many more
+Myles Kornfeld I suspect we might do more! ;)
What, calculators or calculator unboxing videos?
+standupmaths Why not both?
+standupmaths both
+standupmaths everything where I can see calculators!
Giving your binder calculator a hug is one of the best decisions you will make in your life, it has been very useful in emergency calculations where all I have is a bin.
Why did I get excited when I saw that a new calculator unboxing is up? I really need to get a life.
+ No, it means that your heart is in the right place. :)
+Benjamin Green Awww, man. That was sweet.
Calculator unboxing is life
Calculators are love, calculators are life.
+standupmaths Well, that's a good argument :D
7:01 - I'm disappointed he didn't comment on the 0-3 sad onions on the back.
+MisterM2402 Yeah I thought it was quite important that you weren't allowed to use the numbers 0-3
+Reece_27 you just missed an Ashens reference... congratulations!
Reece_27 i'm saying that you should be disappointed of not knowing what it is... if you like this kind of video, Ashens should be right up your alley!
I'll be sure to check it out :)
+MisterM2402 Not an Ashens review...
Best unboxing on UA-cam. No discussion please.
This is the only calculator review anyone will ever need for these
Was I the only one who thought that picking up the ball and solving the maze was a great way to demonstrate the use of higher dimensions to solve spatial problems?
No.
Absolutely _not_ .
These videos are gold.
Cutting open the bag was the best part.
Number enthusiasts aren't meant to be this funny.
Check out stand up maths, that is his main maths channel
+hivetyrant7 its a brave new world
Yeah, I didn't count on this being so amusing. It really added up to more than the sum of its parts, even if it was pretty divisive.
Joshua Pearce
badum tss...
false.
haha you actually took the calculator too the Maldives.
+Joachim Idland of course... first thing packed.
+Numberphile It's a neat way of getting a holiday* as a business expense.
* Location shoot :)
+Joachim Idland *Maldivides
"Let's calculate!" That should be the official Numberphile motto imo
"You can measure on one side how long you've been calculating for." Lmfao I love this.
"√2 x √2 = disappointment" 😂
I love the dry, random humor and arbitrary rankings. It's a beautiful satire of reviews in general!
on a serious note ( B# ), could you go over the myriad of "calculator test equations" and explain what foibles they expose?
+Animuldok B# is a serious note?
+yetanothertubeuser youbetcha ;)
+Animuldok Be Sharp: perfect life motto
This is A minor joke.
+yetanothertubeuser It's just a fancy C to my ears...
5:00 , This apostrophe is actually what you put in for Digit grouping in my country. But I think we're one of few.
That calculator with the maze on the back was absolutely...
good
Props to Staples for making three joke calculators! Also, first time witness of a calculator dissection for me.
"You can measure on one side how LONG you've been calculating for." Haha!
I don't know why, but I love these. Plus Matt is actually pretty funny....................for a mathematician.
Ah… thanks?
+standupmaths Don't take that lightly! He just insulted your trade!
+Mark G |Matt is actually pretty funny.
Fixed That For You
+Mark G I think he also does some stand up comedy, which means you could also say he's pretty mathy for a comic.
+Mark G What? The best writers on the Simpsons, or my favorite, Futurama were Mathematicians. Mathematicians have a great sense of humor... though some are a bit anti-social to show it xD
Where on earth did you film the beach scenes?
And why isn't there a clip of Matt in his swim shorts chilling at the beach?
+22NightWing its easy. hes so white he would burst into flames when exposed to direct sunlight. it was a stunt-clone of him.
The closest you'll get to seeing me in my swimwear is 7:14 here: ua-cam.com/video/Me9fCKNvBBE/v-deo.htmlm14s
+22NightWing That's just your typical UK beach
standupmaths Oh my...
+CCcrafted That's what I thought too, it's hilarious to think of him bringing that calculator on the plane and then to the beach to film it being washed away.
"Doesn't work in ANY sized bin" I LAUGHED TOO HARD DURING THIS VIDEO HAHAHAHAHA
Best staples commercial I've ever watched
Matt Parker knows where the banter is at. How he manages to make a calculator a discussion of hilariousness is beyond me. Keep em coming
"it doesn't work in any bin, unless you give it a hug"
Wow... that actually made me laught like a silly person.
xD
this guys jokes are next level! "cannot go in the bin without a hug"
I work at Staples, and this was great =)
Actually quite happy for the return of Calculator Unboxings! Thank you! Can we have some more please?
I'm a simple man: I see a calculator unboxing video, I press like.
My phone calculator passes all the accuracy tests and it's the most portable.
Joke's on you Mrs. Redman, remember when you said "You won't always have a calculator with you when you grow up!"? FOOL!
I adore these videos. Thanks, you guys, for making me laugh.
You're quite probably the best calculator unboxer I've ever seen.
I almost spit out my coffee when he explained the +/- button.
The problem with the maze on the last calculator is that the maze might distract you from doing your maths. Are they saying math isn't entertaining enough?
Linkaru no, no no, the maze is the main part, but when you get bored, you still have a calc on the back
5:17 "Pointless innovation" I see what you did there
I love the calculator unboxings. My favorite line by far was about the little professor, "If you take this anti-calculator and smash it into a normal calculator at very high speed they will annihilate one another and emit a photon."
lol this is the best unboxing on youtube
'It doesn't work in any size bin, unless you give it a hug.'
You guys should have a top gear like list of the best calculators.
I've heard the 'can't do calculations in a bin' joke before but they make me laugh every time. Especially the bit with the hug. Amazing.
you trademarked the divided by zero test.
6:05 Haha Brady flat out bragging with the Maldives #nofilter ocean
Starving children could have eaten that calculator.
+MentalFrog they still can - we recovered it!
+Numberphile Savage!!!
Numberphile oh wow, you replied :D
The 7' bit was the funniest part for me! I am super excited that these videos aren't dead.
that last one was a-maze-ing
I love how I can always count on this to use your acute sense of sarcasm to immeasurably increase their entertainment value.
Finally!!
Been waiting for this for freakin forever!!
7:33 "amazing", i dont know if that pun was intended
Imagine if aliens use this video to help decrypt our language and culture.
this series is hilarious! Matt Parker refined humor is a perfect match for it.
Refined, like a single-malt whisky.
Now this is some proper nerdage. I fookin love it.
Thank you for your hard work, Numberphile. You are what keeps my faith alive in the calculator market.
im glad these are still a thing
Hahahah the wave washing up to the calculators... that means Brady brought that calculators with him to the Maldives for the express purpose of taking those shots. This makes me quite happy.
This video not brought to you by Staples.
YES!
I watched one of these yesterday and read how you, in May 2015 promised there would be more unboxings. Now my dreams have come true.
This is awesome! x)
Do you find math HARD? Well no more! Not with the new FLEXIBLE CALCULATOR! (only available at Staples)
"You can measure on one side how long you've been counting for." I enjoyed this video too much.
Starving kids in Africa could have eaten those calculators😱
There's Mercury in the calculators. It says Hg.
No, there are Hugs in the calculator
Matt Parker's comedic relief pleases me. Now back to my trash can to do long division on the back of used napkins. If only there was a device I could use in such a location...
I hope it has a retina display!
Watching every video still
it doesn't get more nerdy than this
+Alfredo Moreno that sounds like a challenge!?
When I was in the Navy, I had a pen with one of those little ball mazes in it. I used it so much when I was bored I ended up calling it my time machine. Third calculator has a special place in my heart.
This is true comedy! I like It. Please make more :D
This deserves to have a channel of its own. To date my absolute favourite is still the bamboo calculator. Way more please!
It would be good if you did a serious calculator unboxing video.
So would it be a samsung galaxy s6 or apple s6 or something else?
Are you trying to say this is not a serious calculator unboxing video‽
+standupmaths
Calculator unboxing vids are serious business. I hope the OP is not serious.
This is a serious unboxing
+alloria
No thanks, most mathematicians are super-serious enough already - it's refreshing to see mathematicians and other scientists on Numberphile actually have fun and fool around.
I passed this up initially because I thought it would be boring, and only clicked on this because I was that desperate to avoid my project. Imagine my surprise to find one of the funniest video's I've ever seen. Fantastic work!
great
+standupmaths is the best unboxer EVER.
Hg is a hug XDDDD
I live for these videos! I'd literally watch them everyday 😂😂
Thanks for Brady, now there's one lucky fish somewhere that can finally get a calculator for their binder.
I absolutely love these videos. I'm subscribed to Matt's channel and adore his comedy and personality.
"Two Square Root times Two Square Root equals...disappointment.." hahaha, I love these calculator unboxing videos! Keep them coming!
4:39
"We've got a square root key, so let's go to quick square root test... two.. square root times.. two.. square root.. equals... disappointment."
√2 x √2 = disappointment ~ Matt Parker ©2016
These are my favorite unboxing videos on the whole internet. Let not the fact that I don't watch other unboxing videos detract from the meaningfulness of that statement.
You'd think a calculator unboxing would be incredibly boring. But I figured out this amazing formula a while back.
Boring + Matt Parker = Not Boring
Okay, I do actually think that the binder calculator is kinda useful.
This just may be my favorite UA-cam video of all time.
I just watched all these this morning and I came to youtube to find you guys made another one!! Thank you Brady!
This is so unbelievably funny!
The dry humour is absolutely brilliant.
These are still my favourite videos on the channel, love them
This is the best series you guys have done. This is like unbox therapy level of unboxing.
This might be the best series on UA-cam.
I used to have a similar flexible calculator. I practically "ate" that thing when I was in 5th grade. That thing was in my mouth through half the class. I was gnawing on it. The circuitry and front and back silicone sheets separated. I'd gnaw on that thing for ages. And it still worked. Ahh... Another extreme chewing enthusiast.
I'm still probably a quarter pencil lead.
these videos are literally the best
This is the first video of this series I watched. I love your jokes and puns and laughed many times. Thank you so much
This series is amazing, I'm looking forward to more.
Numberphiles Calculator Unboxing #6 (staples edition) is the most beautiful film I have ever seen.
I was honestly expecting this to be boring as hell but it was beyond charming and made me laugh to myself a few times
this isn't just any calculator unboxing, this is a 9 MINUTE calculator unboxing.
