Thank you! I'm a widow and trying to get use to doing bits and pieces for myself. Precisely the video I needed.
Just glad I could be of service to you. Thanks
If anyone struggles to get the silver caps off like I did gently use some mole grips and carefully pull them off … worked for me. Great video.
Thank you for a very useful bit of info given in a clear manner - even guys like me who are afraid to tackle things like this will give it a go !! Many thanks again.
Absolutely brilliant! I fixed my own loo seat, no handyman needed! Thank you! x
That's nothing, what if the screw is loose from the nut, in an enclosed system. Your video says 'soft close hidden bolts toilet seat fixing", show us how to change the when the nut is loose and you cannot tighten the screw.
This is the video I’m trying to find currently
Me toooo! I want to fix it without having to call a plumber for 400$
The screw has sheered off so how do you replace that?
Screw is just spinning won’t tighten up without holding the nut underneath 😢 looking like the whole bowl has to come off which is a shame as it’s brand new fitting .
@@akaski777same here 😢
My God thank you for this vid. My toilet is a VidaXL, no screwdrivers needed but there I was trying to unscrew everything but this guide was great!!!
Thanks saved $200 did it myself. Women Girls can renovate and fix things around the house!!!
Thanks Barney, my son & I have just moved into a new house and the toilet seat in my en suite shower room is very loose. Rather than moaning at the site manager about poor quality fixings as some people do, and getting said site manager up here, if I can fix it myself I won’t need to bother them. I’ll take my phone upstairs in a bit and follow your instructions step by step. It looks easy enough to do though. X
I was told today by an experienced builder that 'the only way to do this is saw off the lugs and your likely to damage the enamel a bit then buy a new quick release seat' THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO .
I'm a joiner and kept putting this job off as I thought I had to pull the whole toilet out from the wall. Now I know how, I will get to it tomorrow 😉
I thought the same and was kicking myself for replacing an old style toilet with a new fangled thing. Just went and fixed it now. Job done.
Perfect - worked a treat. I was reluctant to tighten really right and it was a paint to get it aligned. Did it the best I could.
just done this and fixed. thanks alot for the clear instructions and no fancy intros etc straight to the point. job done. wife now happy lol
Glad you got it fixed. Thanks for watching
Thanks a lot! Would never have figured this out otherwise 😊
Thank you sooo much! I was sliding side to side on the toilet…..have had this style of toilet/seat for 6 years and never really knew how to fix the problem, as I couldnt get behind the toilet!!
We’ll now you know. I’m pleased I managed to help you. Thanks for the feedback
Straightforward to follow, effective outcome, BIG thankyou.
it is a clear explanation. perfect. I managed to fix my toilet seat very quickly after this video. Thank you
Excellent video, I did everything, as you did step by step, my toilet seat is tightened ( am a widow, so dont have a 'handy man')
Thanks very much That sorted my loose seat
Fantastic! Before seeing this video I was trying to figure out how to tighten screws under toilet (Laying on the floor trying to get hand & arm up the back - Nightmare!) THANK YOU
thank you finally a video that made sense!!! fixed in two minutes. thanks so much
Great video Barney, thanks! Didn't have a clue how to do this yesterday! Now all done!
Thank you this helped so much!
Great video Barney, just moved to a house where all 3 loos are the square type and ALL loose
This saved me time & expense. Thx!
WHat to do if the previous owner has over tighten the screws or damaged the intetnal nut you cannot reach, so you can never get the screw tight anymore? WHat a crap design.
Hey Barney this is great. Please can I ask what make and model of toilet that is? My toilet seat has broken since tightening it all up and I need to get a new one and it looks exact same. Thanks so much!
This video was what I needed! Thanks so much for uploading!
Excellent video , thnak you , ... how do you replace the fittings please .. i have a loose one that wont tighten up
Worked a treat for the countries worst Diyer/handyman,believe me I’m next to useless and I did it …cheeers mester 👍👏👏
Your confidence in the cleanliness of that toilet is impressive as you lean your arms on the rim and rub your hands through your hair. Must be Mrs Hinch's loo 😁 Oh yeh, useful video too.

Just the job. Cheers.
Thanks Barney for your great help!

Absolutely nailed it - thanks - fixed my loo in no time - too easy
Thank you, glad I helped :)
Hi
One of the actual bolts has snapped off. How do I remove them and can I buy new ones as there isn’t anything wrong with the actual unit
Thanks in advance 😁
Great clear DIY. Thanks had no clue how to get the loose secured.
Thank you for tge excellent video however my toilet seat which is a lqfen seat does not have plastic clips nor does it have the crome buttons to release the seat from the protruding rods. I dont know how to remove the seat to tighten it
Did mine in 5 mins. Thanks 🙏🏽
Brilliant. Well explained. Thank you
Good share. My toilet is closed but the part where the seat is fixed to toilet does not have screws.
Thankyou for showing how to do this
With our loo its loose again within 3 days no matter what I do Ive even replaced the fixings a few times it makes no difference Im starting to think about some kind of glue under the connectors to keep the thing tight.
Really useful vlog…thank you for sharing…👍🏻
Thanks , this is a really useful easy video
Thank you.
You're welcome!
What do the fixings that go into the porcelain look like and how do you measure the distance between the legs so they fit back into the toilet seat?
Thank you you very much you saved me a lot off money 💰 🤑 💸 🙏
What if the screw wont tighten? The washer inside seems to keep going round with it
You Legend thanks for this video!!
I did it! Thank you.
Excellent work!
Thanks Barney!
Good video. But I can't seem to work out how to remove the old toilet seat as I would like to replace mine. Any suggestions please.
Brilliant
Many thanx.
Thank you
Seems like both my screws don’t tighten. Just keeps spinning and spinning. Don’t know what to do now
What if there is no visible button or screws at all?
Whr is the tank connecting bolt ? How to access
How do you tighten a loose/rocking commode with the same type of screws that are placed side ways like yours?
You life saver 👍🏻
Great demo and just in time for me 🥴
Thanks m8 👍
What do you do if the part on the underside falls off, I heard it drop and now you can just pull the bolt right out. Do I have to remove the whole toilet from the unit?
Were you able to find a solution? I have the same issue
How to I fix mine seat as it does not have any screws like the one shown.
Brilliant cheers
What do I do if the bolt on the underside of the Phillips screw has dropped off? How do I replace this? Please help 😂
Same issue, here plastic nut on the inside broke. Not sure how to get inside the porcelain.
@@alifarhat5437 You can buy replacement bolts on Amazon or Ebay, so just push the remains of the old ones down into the toilet casing & replace with new ones.
@@anthonypaynter828 Hi Anthony much appreciated. I’ve since repaired them and learnt as you’ve advised. Key point is to understand the replacement fasteners are inserted wholly from the outside. When you do them up, they expand internally to lock in place. And yeah, future generations may discover a few old plastic nuts resting inside the porcelain cavity.
I thought this would be the case for mine too, but the screws are tight and it's not moving...I think my actual seat is fitting loosely on the metal connector part rather than the screws being the issue... has anyone else had this problem??
Did you take the metal connectors off then tighten the screws? It worked for me.
Thanks
Cheers bro 🤙
My toilet seat has lost its soft closing, what l do to fix it?
Thanks- have done this twice but one of the pivots always works loose again after 3 or 4 days
What next please?
Needs a new washer
Nice one bro
Whoever fitted that seat is a cowboy 🤠 loose even after tightnes 😂
no need to take out the little plastic bits press the buttons and the whole lot pops off
Mine has been tightened maximum and still swivels.
Hi, had your seat been lose for a little while. It is possible that moisture has got in under the mounting bases and causing it to continue to slip. You may need a brand new seat all together
Aaaahh it was the buttons for me! That helped me take it out, phew such a relief. Now finally half of my ass wont fall into the toilet
My sear does not have the button
My screw won’t bite at all
Dangerous type of seat, kids refuse to use it
How to fix soft close on toilet seats
My silver caps won't come off.
Same did you ever manage to get them off
@@dpreviews8934 yeah. They were just on really snug. But they did come off.
@@ColossalCrib cheers - just gave it another go and got them off!
Easy to install, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxjA-hDN2m8_mi0Dg0JD8U6QiArozIAc4I and comfortable. No idea what other people were talking about when they said it was difficult to install or uncomfortable.
Uuuu
where some gloves!
Why? It’s been recently installed, cleaned and sterilised. No different to anything else.
