Very nice. I've been trying to move past the prussik for years. I have to have a two direction lanyard, because I'm old and not as strong at climbing as you young men. The prussik gets too tight at just the sketchy moment I need to move it on my fifteen foot lanyard. I use the same hooks or very similar to what you have, because they're lighter than the steel ones. If you were to post a video of you using this lanyard to ascend a tree while staying tied in the whole time, that wold be really helpful. I have on order a Klimair Adjuster to solve this, but i really like the way a Distel and pulley moves on my climb line, and I was thinking of having two of those rigs on there, but I wonder about the clutter factor. Hey man nice video! Some suggestions, if I may: Long legs on your Eye&Eye result in sloppy adjustment and sit-back. Try another hitch like the VT or get a shorter hitch cord. I think you'll like the improvement.
I know exactly what you mean but I like this setup. Sit back didn’t really make it in my rationale for the extra long legs since I’m not using the RopeWrench. The setup was really geared toward elongating the 10ft lanyard. In a double all in one lanyard setup trust me 10ft is no where near enough.
I think I’m gonna try this method. I see a lotta you tubers running this type lanyard. As of now, I doubt I’ll prefer it, but I doubted the zig zag. Now it’s all I use on the drt and srt. A tree that doesn’t require a half day or full day of puzzling out the tree, I simply run a 16’ prussic pulley lanyard and a 8’ steel on a cam. I can do quite a lot with that setup. But gotta try this cuz I learned a lot from you tube. It’s unwise to snub the nose to a pro. If nothing else, it will broaden my experience, or it will make me more streamlined and efficient
I'm curious as to why you're using the Petzl SM'D on your lanyard, versus the Petzl AM'D or BM'D? I know they're a little smaller and more compact. But the hole on the bottom of the spine for accessories, just makes me sit a little uneasy lol.
Theyve been making 2in1 lanyards for decades with triple braid manila rope. I just love the evolution of tree gear. This looks so much smoother and compact than the old stuff. Definitely the safest way to assend other than throwing a line in the tree first. Definitely show some vids of how you use it. Your stuff is very entertaining to watch. Keepem coming bro.

Hey brother. Ok I’m so lost in this set up. I did everything you showed on this video. But my second tie in is just slipping and not keeping tight. It will not stay secure and I just slide All the way through my flip line until I get to end. What am I doing wrong. And even just the long flip line is so in the way of everything. I want to use this setup because I wanna try new things but I just end up going back to the 2 in 1 steel core. Could you possibly Do a in-depth video of this please. Maybe even in a tree and how you manage the slack on your harness. I know im asking a lot and would even donate to have video done. I know experience cost. But please help a brotha out.
The petzl sm'd are good little biners. Whats the pulley you show ? I have a 50' piece of sterling rit 500 coming tomorrow that I want to make into a lanyard. Unfortunately its 8mm not the 10 , but I will have 2 in the long run. What length hitch cord did you use for this video ?
This is the Camp Tethys Pro Small Mobile Pulley. The pulley length for this setup was absurdly long. I think it’s a 32” hitch cord and I did it because this lanyard was 10 ft which is barely enough for work climbs or rec climbs. So in theory the long hitch will add length. But today I would opt for a shorter hitch, say 24”, especially with a 15’ lanyard.
I agree. But the theory was related to having a 10’ lanyard. When double lanyarding 10’ is way too short so the theory behind the legs is to squeeze out as much length as possible
A normal 2 in 1 is an English prusik on a lanyard (no pulley for multi directional brake). What you did here is put 2 separate systems on one rope instead. Where does the extra slack sit?
You didn't say anything about what makes that a "double" or "all in one"...or when/where/how to use it. And that was a terrible description of how to tie that hitch. Good job buddy.

I prefer shorter legs but i like the ropes you using 👍

The extra slack is right there under both systems I usually use a carabiner to put that slack away.
