We worry about what other people think because our lives depend on other people. It is so nobody looks at us and decides to comit an act of violence against us. So that nobody makes incorrect assumptions about us. The ability to just be yourself in public is privilege, it means that you are perfectly acceptable to the society at large and dont challenge it in any way or make anyone upset by your mere existence.
Killed it with this response, I do think there is still some merit to the point though. I think most of what we think is unacceptable to society is just in our heads. I think one of the benefits of western society is that atleast as adults we can largely just do our own thing and find our own people. There aren’t many laws telling us how we have to interact with the world. Don’t get me wrong, capitalism and conservatism are rife, but they are fighting a losing battle.
I think one cool distinction we could make is worrying about what people think vs managing what people think. I have to play an “act” around my parents, but internally I don’t have to buy into the act I am putting on.
4:10 i have this issue as well. i'll see someone absolutely killin on their hair or they have some dope shoes or something and i rarely take a moment to just compliment them because i don't wanna bother them or catch them off guard or something. I feel like it's just obstructing their day even though i know it could give them a boost in confidence or something, i'm just too scared to take that moment. probably need to do that more. this video is flames, all luv.

I went to the mall today alone Was hesitating first but did still go I was little sad that many people had friends family beside them but I thought to myself bruh you are your own friend so enjoy it nobody cares and shop
proud of you for this, sometimes it’s little things like those moments that truly set you into a bliss of just appreciating your own company. it’s a beautiful thing if you truly allow it to be that
