- I travelled aboard one of the last Class 460 Electric units. These units were built between 1971 - 1978 by Vagónka Studénka in the Czech Republic. These units are the last trains of this type in regular operation and will be replaced by new EMUs in April 2024.

Thanks for watching! Only units that are in the best condition are now in regular operation, but it is true that they can often replace new trains in terms of reliability.
Nice trip report, Pete! Much appreciated that you are documenting these older trains and short routes. They may be less exciting (and comfortable) as 1st class in the newer trains, but it is important to have record of equipment before it is removed from service, and the smaller routes provide interesting scenery. Thank you as always!
Thanks so much for watching! This was also the reason for my trip to document these trains. This year we still have to say goodbye to Class 151/150.2 and 371 locomotives..
I rode these on a cold winter day and their heating is just so good, quite charming trains as well 😄
That was the reason why it was possible to travel with opened windows in cold weather, because these trains heated really well :-D

Roughly 1 year ago I traveled with that exact train from Olomouc to Prerov
Tak to byla velká nostalgie. Tímhle typem vlaku jsme jezdili z Olomouce do Ostravy po škole (odjezd 14:10 hod.) a byl to typicky studentský spoj - narvaný k prasknutí studentama. 😅 Moc pěkné. 👍😁
To ano, jsem nakonec rád že jsem ji ještě stihnul v pravidelném provozu (když původu měla jet na tomto oběhu ta zelená retro souprava). Jinak toto byl také vlastně studentský spoj, z Přerova jel vlak plný studentů.
Used to travel with these between Nove Zamky and Sturovo in 70s and 80s Loved them for their acceleration and was amazed when first time I have seen automatically closing doors.
At the time of their production, they were interesting trains and lasted quite a long time in service. But everything has its time and this weekend it will be farewell with them (after that maybe a few more sets will remain as backup for the new RegioPanter trains).

Our last one runs its final kilometres too, already in original livery. I hope, there is enough will to preserve it.
As You said, they are behind in terms of nowaday's "govt donated public services",
but I have seen the mentioned AC~ version in Nové Zámky Yards getting rotten, while the Škoda double-decker intermediate coaches have been rotated for months between two Laminátkas as REx service to Bratislava...
(I won't widely explain, I think, You got, what I am saying... 😎 it would be looking weird, but still better...)
Thanks for watching! Of the fleet of Czech class 460 units, one set in the original green-cream colors will remain as a museum piece. On Saturday, there will be a farewell to these units in Olomouc, and on Sunday there will be a museum unit ride from Olomouc to Chomutov.

I really like these units, even if they have some disadvantages. If you have a bike, it's not easy to load it and unload it because the door is placed very high. About modifications, there is one more you forgotten to mention: The door was originally opened by mechanical handle, not using a button.

Pěkná památka na 460ky, budou mi dost chybět...
V mém okolí sice nejezdily, ale jsou to prostě legendy :-)
Když jsem byl v létě 2023 po x letech zpátky v Přerově, tak jsem si jednou jednotkou dal výlet do Hranic. V tu dobu to ještě byly ty starší zelené :))). Ten výšlap do vlaku byl dost ostrý, na to už fakt člověk není zvyklý :D
Ten výstup do vlaku byl opravdu ostrý, ale jinak mi ty jednotky přišly celkem pohodlné.. Původně mělo být toto video z té zelené retro jednotky, ale bohužel na poslední chvíli místo ní poslali tuto modrou.
Pěkné video! Panťáky brzy vstoupí do historie. Jsem rád, že jezdily, i když v posledních letech jsem se s nimi moc nenajezdil, protože nejezdily tam kam jsem potřeboval. Ale i tak pěkné video
Díky moc! Já jsem naštěstí ještě chytil i ty Brněnské 560, takže mám splněno (když původní cíl byla ta retro souprava, která měla jet na tomto oběhu a zrovna v den mé cesty byla nahrazena modrou).
Nádhera. 460 012 dnes již bohužel nejezdí, ale 011 jezdí s 062 a včera přijela zpět do Bohumína a je jako záloha za 471
Díky! Ano, myslím že tu 012 odstavili týden po mé cestě, alespoň že má ta 062 stejný nátěr :-)

Téhle vlaku je mi opravdu líto. Už jako malí kluk v roce 1994 jsem s nimi jezdil z Lovosic do Ústí nad Labem k babičce a moc se mi líbili. Bohužel místo aby se tito jednotky opravili a jezdili dál radši je CD odstaví a sešrotuje. Totéž lokomotivy 151 a 150 😢
Také si je pamatuji. Bohužel jejich čas nadešel, i kdyby dostaly ETCS, tak by časem skončily kvůli konverzi napájecích soustav. Mě se bude stýskat hlavě po lokomotivách 150 a 151, ty jsou mé oblíbené :-)

Tieto vlaky u nás jazdia len na východe a tuším aj tam sa už pomaly vyraďujú. Takže zaujímavé, konečne príležitosť sa tomuto zaujímavému vlaku pozrieť "na zúbky".
Trochu mi tiež pripomína tzv. Sovietske resp. Ruské "električky" tento typ vlaku.
Zrovna jsem se díval včera na nasazení těch z Košic a za celý týden vyjely jen dvakrát, takže už asi také jezdí jen jako záložní..
The old units sound so much better than any of the new ones... ;C

Ahoj, to mě také .. do Olomouce se pravděpodobně nedostanu, proto jsem se snažil ještě tu jednotku chytit v běžném provozu.
Odcházejí do zaslouženého důchodu.. Jinak máš moc hezký kanál a chtěl bych se tě zeptat, zda náhodou nevíš, proč vlak EN nightjet z Curychu přes Linz staví v obcích, jako Velešín (3 900 obyvatel) nebo Rybník (snad cca 120 obyvatel) a nestaví v Benešově nebo Veselí nad Lužnicí?
Ahoj, díky moc! EN z Curychu do Prahy přes Linz je vlastně jen jeden přímý lůžkový vůz, který se v Linz Hbf připojí za EC Jižní expres, takže staví stejně jako ostatní jižní expresy i v těchto menších obcích. Je to nejspíše kvůli doplnění taktu s Sp, dále od Budějovic už to není potřeba, protože tam jak ve Veselí, tak i v Benešově staví rychlíky, které mají cca hodinový interval, takže Jižní expresy zde jezdí jako rychlejší vrstva mezi velkými městy (Č. Budějovice - Tábor - Praha).

I probably won't go to the farewell in Olomouc, I prefer trains in regular service. In Slovakia the 460 units appear only occasionally, I looked at the dispatches for last and this week and the unit 460 ran on Wednesday (as a replacement for the 660 unit) and today.
