Vere nice, Pete! I like sleeper trains. It is something different, a type of an adventure during night and morning breakfast and so. You know how I mean it. Thanks 😊
Přátelský pozdrav z Dives Cabourg v Praze 👋👍📽️🤩
Thank you for another comprehensive trip report, amazed the dining car is open so late.
Thanks so much for watching! It's a great benefit to have dining car which is open so late :-)
Coach No. 372 is 1st Class Section of the IC Train to Breclav. You probably mean No. 362 for the couchette car.
Thanks, fixed .. I have a template for descriptions and since I mostly travel in 1st class, I have car 372 written there by default :-D
Extraordinary video. I also travelled on this route, from Budapest to Prague and back, but with EuroCity Metropolitan. And the experience was great. I also travelled this year from Budapest to München by ÖBB Railjet, and i'm planning to go to Zürich next year, of course by EuroNight Kálmán Imre. Central Europe has the best trains, with very good conditions and also good services.
Many likes and subscribes!
Greetings from Romania
Thanks so much for watching! I tried all ways between Prague and Budapest, Metropolitan is also good :-) Greetings from Prague :-)
@@paulalex7664 I'm good friends with Pete and he said it's ok for us to babble in our own native tongue :))
Wonderful video ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Looks great! Love the dining car on the Czech trains since the prices are reasonable and it's a swanky way to get fed. Haven't had a single problem free trip with the Hungarian trains though. Absolute disaster and the Hungarian passengers were absolutely awful too.
Czech dining cars offer high-quality services and are popular. I also want to try the Hungarian dining car in the future, the last time I traveled on the MÁV-START long-distance train there was no dining car.
@@PeteBrandyTake the Hungária EC, there is dining car. It runs betwen Budapest-Nyugati and Hamburg-Altona. It also stops at Prauge.
@@PeteBrandy you'll be pleasantly surprised of the goodies Utaselatto offers. Prices are great too, especially on the Szamos/Tisza, Dacia and Corona trains.
Zajímavé oběhy souprav a vozů. 👍
A raději Ti budu psát česky (nebo slovensky), nechci tady mít někoho, kdo není v obraze, štěkat do mýho komentu. 😁
Which attractions will you visit in Budapest? I recommend the Railway History Park at Tatai Road.
Sadly Regiojet took all austrian couchettes from Service because of the Accident. Honestly, i dont think the Cars were to blame from their Construction. Old Cars just didnt have Crash Norms.
I think it's about maintenance, I also don't believe it would be a construction fault. Otherwise, ČD cars are in much better condition, a year and a half ago I traveled in the same RegioJet couchette car and it was in much worse condition.
@@PeteBrandy they same sleeping cars were going to Croatia and it was really a museum on wheels
@@PeteBrandy Could be, ÖBB modernized the CD ones, (for example Air Condition) so they could be in better condition
In a 4 berth configuration, the right thing to do, would have been the middle beds to be lifted into position at their upper site and the top ones folded up completely. I've traveled on many couchettes in Europe and the staff simply ignores that configuration. If it's a 4, they simply still use the 6 configuration, leaving upper passengers with no headroom on top and less bed space on the bottom. Kinda sucks
Pete, what was the price you have paid for this travel in a sleeping train from Praha to Budapest? and where have you booked youre travel? over CD or Hungarian Train
That's an amazing big menu. How many people are in the dining car crew?
Depends on type od the carriage, there is usually a 3-person crew in this type of dining car..
Interesting video, am curious, you usually book a room for a single person, why did you book the couchette and how did you know that you would not be sharing? I would assume that the dining car does little business during the night but does some sales in the morning. All in all a nice trip. Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching! I usually travel in a sleeper car, where it is possible to reserve an entire compartment, but this is not possible with couchette cars. Having a compartment for yourself in a couchette car is possible if you know in which car the system automatically assigning reservations and then you just need to go to the ticket office to purchase a reservation and request a specific bed in the other (less occupied) car. And I also knew in advance that they will add one extra couchette car that week that only went full in the opposite direction :-D
😉😉😉😉😉🙋♂👋👋👋👋
I hate blinding bright lights in coaches.
if you wanna use just 2nd class, you have to use this train only as IC that ends in Břeclav and you have to wait to 5 morning to use another 2nd class that come from another country, if i understand it right :D ČD joke again.
So... if you book a berth and lock it from the inside before anyone else arrives, does this make it a private compartment?
No. A private compartment is when no one else buys a berth in the same compartment .. On less occupied trains, this is possible if you know in which car the system automatically assigning reservations and then you just need to go to the ticket office to purchase a reservation and request a specific bed in the other (less occupied) car.
Is the restaurant fully opened during the section to Brno/Breclav? Do they actually cook you meals at 11pm?
Yes, all the way between Praha and Břeclav. I was there after 11 pm and the kitchen was opened.
What is the ridership on this train that looks almost empty. You lucked out and got a room to yourself?
The seated carriages were quite crowded (especially the open plan ones), which can also be seen in the video. The sleeping car was sold out, the other couchette car next to mine was almost full, only my car was almost empty because it was an additional car, which was then full on the way back from Budapest.
Both amazing cities, Praha and Budapest 😍
I agree :-)
