Excellent Blondie compilation. I still have the 45 of Call Me that I bought when it came out. I was big into the punk scene but that song was amazing. Giorgio Moroder is a genius. I never understood why Chrysalis used those plastic liners They were always such a pain in the butt!
The UK first issue of the Bow Wow Wow 'See Jungle...' had a white boarder around the cover image...so, in theory, if you're feeling particularly pedantic, there is a forth alternate sleeve to collect...
Wow….I’d go to most of those gigs as well Mike. We see the Stones on every tour, they are very special live, I’m sure it will be a great experience for you. I’d love to see Laetitia, hopefully she’ll come to the UK soon. I got Doppelgänger the other day, but still need Cuckoo. What’s your favourite Curve album Mike? Blue Day looks really good. I’m meeting Miki from Lush on Friday at a book signing, I’m really looking forward to that. I’ve got both BWW covers and I believe that one with the towel was the result of Annabella’s Mother complaining about the nudity….. not much of a compromise from MM!! Mike
My favorite Curve album is "Come Clean", but its not available on vinyl (someday I hope), and Cuckoo is my 2nd favorite. That Cuckoo reissue sounds pretty good. Jealous you are meeting Miki, should be fun, she seems really cool.
I always preferred Borders over Barnes & Noble & was sad to see them go a decade ago. You definitely had a productive shopping week. Not sure why Creation didn't put all tracks on the EP compilation .. they never really treated Slowdive well. Nice to see 90's bands like Curve get the reissue treatment. I never saw Curve ..did see Wolfgang Press opening for Nick Cave in the late 80's. Clem Burke is my favorite drummer ! ✌️
That’s really interesting that that Blondie is a grail. As you’re probably aware Blondie were huge in the U.K before anywhere else so that ‘best of’ is fairly easy to find as it sold about about million on vinyl over here. That’s my favourite Stereolab single for me...& that is hard to find over here, in fact I’ve never seen one. 🙂
I have been looking everywhere for that Blondie comp after seeing it once 2 years ago. It was always the first thing I would look for in the used bins. Now I finally found one. I was surprised seeing that Stereolab 12" for $20 on eBay. Waiting for the price to go down on a Stereolab-Capt Easychord 12", I think the dude is asking $150 for it. I'll wait.
I’ve been debating on those Lush reissues, very tempting. I figured you would have had everything from Slowdive by now Mike. I have looked at Cockoo but again have not pulled a trigger. That is an amazing amount of concerts you are going to, wow. Busy person.
I still feel like I need to see more concerts, last year there were too few. Lush and Curve are right in my wheelhouse, some of the best shoegaze out there.
Did the cuckoo reissue sound better than the doppelgänger reissue? I would also love to see a full fledged long form video about your curve collection!
After reading your comment, I gave the new Cuckoo reissue a first listen. I will say, it does sound a little better than the Doppelganger reissue, which to me sounded muddy. I compared the Cuckoo reissue to my original, and to no surprise, the original sounds clearer and has better separation, but the reissue isn't bad. Esp if that's the only copy you can get. I'll be doing a video of my Curve collection soon, probably the next band I do. I currently have 21 on vinyl and 34 on cd. Thanks for watching!
Do you know Bret Helm? Phoenix VC dude, you guys have a lot of similar tastes. I would stick around to catch some of Wednesday, I personally am not a huge fan but the live show should be a good energy. I can’t believe Cigarettes After Sex is an arena band now. I feel like music on vinyl is always inconsistent. Wolfgang Press is fantastic.
Yes Bret and I comment back and forth, haven't met in person. Wednesday doesn't seem bad, just not sure if we will stick around for their whole set. We saw CAS in a theater last year (the line to get in went for several blocks), and now they are filling a hockey arena. Good for them. Agreed, Wolfgang Press is fantastic.
I would love to see Adam Ant (Sam would too). Im also not a huge Rolling Stones fan but would like to see them and think you will enjoy it.
Agreed Jen!
Great bunch of gigs lined up Mike. Really nice vinyl pick ups especially Curve and Slowdive.
Thanks Mike, appreciate it! Great hearing from you.

Agreed, love this Blondie comp, hate the plastic inner sleeve. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, mine is a 1990 reissue on Great Expectations. I will pick up that UK RCA version with the border when I get the chance. Thanks for the heads up!

Never got to see Wolfgang Press, but I did see Curve on their Come Clean tour, with the Dandy Warhols opening, great show. Loud.
The Rolling Stones have lots of good albums.
I've heard that. Maybe after seeing them, I will start buying some on vinyl. Might start with Let it Bleed, it has my favorite Stones song on it.

Hey Mike are you grabbing the Stereolab box coming out in a couple weeks?
Yes, I have all those on cd and vinyl, plus the box set with Switched on 1-3, but I will still get the new one, and the sampler. How about you?
Yes on the box set. No on sampler though.
For sure
