Hi Mike, I’ve also pre-ordered the Rough Trade exclusive MB3 debut LP after picking up the Covers EP. Also check out the KXEP UA-cam channel which recently uploaded MB3 in their studio playing a few tracks plus interview. I’ve also pre-ordered the 3rd LP from UK band Pale Blue Eyes - I think they’ll be up your street - give them a listen. Also just ordered gig tickets to see The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 15th anniversary tour in November.

I never knew Icicle Works had a tribal beat. It was super popular in the UK. You did an excellent job finding albums influenced by various countries, really enjoyed this. You have gotten me to buy a lot of different albums, so much cool stuff in your collection

An album that you have on several 7" rekkids, double 10" rekkids, a CD, and a jigsaw puzzle. That's pretty scummy and we'll forgive you for losing your cassettes, ha!

Great video Mike! I’m curious if you’re going to buy the upcoming stereo lab 2lp warp reissues. As someone who loves their music but only owns one of their albums, it’s great to see that they’re still in print and without the expanded tracks and mixes.

1 big omission..From the Lion's mouth from The Sound...I don't think the Sound ever got the acclaim they deserve in the UK (let alone the US)...a great album and no forgettable song on it

Never owned that Minor Threat, but i remember taping 'Cashing in' when John Peel played it in 83? That was such a big song for 12 year old me. Its stuck with me for ever.

"Don't Worry" is a Yoko Ono song, so that explains alot. Later replaced by "Big Bird". Aztec Camera "High Land" would have fit in nicely here.

4AD is my favorite record label as well. I think it was actually Brendan Perry of DCD that introduced Xymox to 4AD and then they signed a deal with them...

I'm dubious about extending New Wave into Skylarking. I'm not saying that New Wave stopped by 86 but Skylarking is a very sophisticated album not in the New Wave classic mould.

Saw clips of cigarettes after sex concert and it looked pretty amazing, so lucky you had a chance to see them. I missed The Cure when they came to the Hollywood Bowl, saw so many who went. I was able to see two of my favorite artist this month! Empire of the sun and washed out.

Saw The Cure on the Kiss Me tour in the 80s. Love that Standing On The Beach album!! Great concerts you went to and love the Aimee Mann shirt!

Men Without Hats, local Montreal band, singer. Lived a few streets away… Pretenders, Love and Rockets… Was supposed to see Jane’s Addiction opening for Smashing Pumpkins but band member injured himself and they replaced them last minute with I Mother Earth, was amazing… Thanks for this presentation, was great, cheers 🎶✌🏼

Great update! Did/do you play hockey? I think the main reason bands don't play in certain cities is because there isn't a promoter willing to pay for the band, venue, labor, insurance cost, etc., and take the financial risk. Generally speaking, nothing to do with the band. Wow, I was at the Ween show in L5P at The Point!
