They need to start making new phones every 2 years, not every year.
Would be stupid for them. More than enough people are upgrading every year.
I think it was MKBHD who said iPhones are like Porsches now. Slow incremental refinement that leads to a consistently improved user experience. I’ve been coming around to this idea. My 12 Pro Max is still great 3 generations later.
I’m waiting for Apple to either double the CPU performance, or double the GPU performance, or double the RAM from my 12 Pro Max, then I’ll upgrade. Graphics performance will likely hit 2x with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, so it might be time for me the next go around. But until then, eh I don’t see the point.

Don't you guys get tired of new phones all the time 15 series is just 4 months old.
There is actually a pretty complex answer to that but to put it simply we like how dopamine makes us feel new things cause release of dopamine in our brain ,it’s genetically encoded in us since new, in man’s history through evolution means good .
One answer I always heard was that the latest phone model is made for the person that did not upgrade (I.e. still using 12 pro max) and only impulse makes people feel like they have to have a new phone every roll out. Then you have your free upgrade programs, tech junkies, and disposable income and voila !
People today have short attention spans and are enslaved to capitalism and consumerism. Their constant craving for dopamine is making them shallow.

I rarely would come close on my samsung phones which for a long time have had worse battery life by quite a lot. They caught up big time with the s23 ultra, but yeah iphone will probably always be more efficient most years.

People only using the telephoto to zoom in are sorely missing out on what it’s actually good for- which is capturing the same picture as the 1x, with the subject the same size.. but by backing away from the subject and shooting with the telephoto, you get a much different perspective and compression between foreground and background. This of course will be made more difficult having to back away further with the new 5x lens. And I reallly don’t understand why we don’t get even 24mp on the telephoto. Ultrawide pics are already “stretched”.. so I really don’t see the need for more detail on an already distorted image. A zoom lens could make much better use of having more megapixels to work with. Just look at what they’ve done with the standard lens. Missed opportunity here imo.
The OnePlus 12 has a 3x telephoto with like 60 something mp, with ois. Actually a phone company that changes their phones with a new release

oh man i just got my first iPhone a couple days ago ( iPhone 15 pro max) for the first time since 2012! now I'm going to be coveting the 16 pro. pro max models. I heard there will be some improvements to siri and some ai stuff possibly coming which is important for phones in my opinion, but that some of the ai stuff will exclusive to the 16 series only. I would love a smarter siri with much better voice dictation and speech recognition. Coming off a pixel phone, google assistant is much better and voice dictation on the pixel phones is alot better as well. Please apple improve siri to be smarter and better at voice typing ! I also would like to get a a vision pro headset maybe this year, so i have to balance that with jumping to 16 series iPhone.
I wouldn’t say that we will get no high updates when it comes to the processor. I believe that Apple probably will implement their AI into 16 pro but they will get it with their policy - they will implement in to the A18 pro additional small processor just for AI so they can be secured beneficiaries for the next years.
Of course they will sell it with a story ‘we don’t want to cut the performance of the live tasks so you have one processor just for AI and the second one for live tasks.
However I can’t wait for that😅

I still do the same stuff I did on my iphone4. That was quick and easy. The only improvements are a far better camera and bigger screen. Every thing else(chips etc) whilst “better” ….well everything was instantaneous back then. So it's funny how much we all pay for the latest version. (myself included)
Let's hope they decrease or get rid of the dynamic island. Had a 15 pro, but returned it quickly as I find the dynamic island such a horrendous looking cut-out.

The difference between 2x and 3x was already really significant at the 13 pro. Because the 2x is just a sensor crop of the 1x 24mm camera. That means that is has the same distortion and background size as the 24mm camera! The 3x zoom is a 77mm camera, which has larger background rendering and generally less distortion.
Also, when increasing the focal length to - let's say "10x" - without significantly increasing the size of the lens, the fotos will show significant image quality losses. Apple - alongside every other manufacturer - always tries to cover up the image quality problems by postprocessing. They are doing a pretty good job, but a heavier post processing will result in less natural looking pictures.
What about AOD for non pro models?
I'm not gonna lie I still have an iPhone 10 and I've been happy with it for years LMAO. But the camera upgrades on each new model is making it kinda difficult to resist the temptation to get a new phone.

iPhone 3Gs to iPhone 4 and the retina display was the single biggest upgrade ever. The clarity was so jaw-dropping.
Biggest software updates: Multitask in iOS 4 I think, AirDrop, iCloud integration, side car,
biggest Camera upgrades, first Video in 3Gs, first slowmo in iPhone 6, first wideangle lens in iPhone 11, portraitmode in iPhone 7plus
biggest hardware upgrades: nfc in iPhone 6 for Apple pay, wireless charging in iPhone X and 8

The new 16 will have two camera lenses on the back, that are the same distance appart from each other than the stereo cameras on the Vision Glasses. This way we can make video in 3D perspective and see them back on the Vision Glasses.
I’m still using the iPhone X from 2017 as I’m waiting for Apple to get rid of the notch and make further camera improvements - which they may not do for another couple of years.
After the first 5 years, I got Apple to change the battery as it was struggling to last all day despite my low level of usage. Changing the battery didn’t make much difference, and now, 7 years later, the poor battery life is the main issue. Can I go another year or is this the year I finally cave and upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro? 😬🤳

Sure! Of course...uhu. Nothing changes on an iPhone except things people cannot see or don't asked for. Things like features that are actually useful like a total overhaul of the menu and it's totally obsolete structure. Things like one click features when it comes to agenda, messaging, calendar... A new keyboard that finally allows to show special characters above the normal alphabetic ones via long press and with numeric keys on top without having to switch to numeric and back each time. Welcome to the all not so new iPhone 16.

I hope the next iPhone 16 would feature removable battery while retaining the IP68.. don’t come with some stupid idea saying that’s not possible.. International iPhone models have Sim Tray that can be removed whenever users feel like it and still maintaining IP68.. make the tray bigger to fit sim card, SSD card, and battery all in the same tray..
The motherboard of modern phone is way smaller and thinner than a matchbox after all.. plenty of room to make bigger tray for battery

I am shocked i made a picture of a book-page with 8 plus and it was crystal clear without capturing the light from my cabin car light. While with 15 pro max is a challenge to take a close up page of book and be crystal clear. It is shocking.

I think the ideal zoom for the 16 pro max is actually X12.5. Why? Because 12.5X * 8 is 100X zoom, so we would get the legendary 100X zoom with only X8 digital zoom, thus getting a far better quality than Samsung
And u still believe that the cameras in phones are great. And think that they're the best thing since sliced bread.
