Another cool adventure and the bonus you out ran the rain⛈️😊 truly enjoy your content thanks for sharing. Curious have you ever explored the upper sink of the Santa Fe River..it runs from Bible Camp St. Boat Ramp east towards Worthington Springs..there are 3 sources of water feeding the Santa Fe River Olustee Creek flowing from Ocean Pond, New River flowing from I believe Lake Butler then Lake Santa Fe itself in Melrose FL east of Gainesville FL. Would be a pretty cool adventure for ya.
Also Camp Oleno State Park is there offering cabins and tent camping also is the site of the lower sink or river rise it is called after returning to surface after being underground for 2 1/2 miles. Just thought I would add a bit more information for you👍🛶
Great channel! Could we see in a future episode what the former River Country water park looks likes, And the former Cypress Gardens look like from your boating POV? Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Thanks for doing that canel It's been in my list not much to see on lake Apopka it's my understanding that the canel was built as a way to transport citrus via the dead river , the ocklawaha River St Johns River in Jacksonville as a port
I live on Lake Harris and have traveled this canal a few times. It is questionable in my 21’ boat although I have done it twice. Too much vegetation and shallow water. The gators on the Lake Apopka side of the lock are huge and numerous. I took my small 14’ aluminum boat with short shaft outboard. Much better. I doubt I will take the trip there again unless I have guests who want to take the trip. There is so much to see on this chain of lakes. Go the other direction through three lakes and up the Ocklawaha river to Silver Springs. Much better trip.
@@OverlandFlorida On a side note. Watching your videos for the past year or so was a big influence to go find a small aluminum boat to explore the smaller rivers and waterways. My brother has a Jon boat and I would explore with him. Then I found your site. At the time I owned a 25’ center console with twin 200’s. Great for the Gulf but lousy for the lakes and rivers. So I downsized to a 21’ center console and an old 14’ aluminum V hull which I immediately put a new outboard on. Now I feel I have the best of both worlds.
Should have asked sooner, but why did you go with Freedom since you have a nice little 15 ft'er of your own? Was it just flexibility of size and location?
My little boat is very limited. I can't take more than 2 people out on it and it's mainly for calm waters. I can entertain more people and it's much safer cruising bigger bodies of water with the boats available with Freedom Boat Club.
This is Awesome!!! As always Thank you for sharing
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful ride. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks Kevin really enjoy your channel..........

Hey! Thanks, I have not even boating on the Santa Fe River yet. I know there are a lot of springs and it's a really fun trip.

Yeah, there's not much on Lake Apopka. That's cool about the history, a lot of canals were dug for the logging industry as well.
So that bridge you went under is not part of the wildlife drive, it is open for hiking/biking though. Part of the loop trail.
Ok, thank you.
@@OverlandFlorida I work for st john's thats my office lol. Got any questions I'll be glad to answer. It's defintely a cool place!

@@gazellefreestyle3711 awesome, thank you.

Nice video, do you ever travel up to Flagler county to explore?
Yes, I have been up there many times.
What public ramp in on the canal? Closer to lake beauclair?
I have no idea.
How long was the ride to apopka all together?
One way was probably 40min. Depends how fast your boat is.

Thanks for watching. It was a neat canal. I probably wouldn't do it again either.

@@georgemcgill7509 that is the best of both worlds. An aluminum jobn boat can take a beating. I really want to buy a surface drive.
I have rode my jetskis down that canal and never seen any gators either. I don't know where they are hiding at.
I still haven’t seen any lol

What happens if you damage a boat club boat? Is there insurance or do you have to pay for it?
Insurance is included in the monthly fee.
