Appreciate this video. Ive been working on my own launches and definitel found this helpful. Gonna hit a lot after work today and do some launch work myself.
Sounds like you really care about getting this right. Thanks for taking the time to explain and for your honesty. I started to think ..as you said you wore out your clutch, that you are just showing people how to wear out their clutch, so don't do it this way but I appreciate you're working hard to get it right. IL4s have phenomenal power but they have a hole in the torque curve atpower rpms. That's why it's so hard to launch without burning the clutch. A triple is better suited but obviously only has 200+HP with a supercharger.
Love doing myself, the clutch is everything, burning out your clutch early is all to do with clutch pressure, not sure of your clutch set-up, have a look at upgrading to clutch springs, eg pressure, add washers to take up lock up faster as this improves so much in time and release fully. Glade you enjoy
@@anthonymike1ps4eso85 find a comfortable rpm to launch at, and let the clutch lever out fast. The slower you let out the clutch lever the more likely you are to burn your clutch. Also bricks clutch mod will help in extending clutch life.
Clutch plates are something you can change yourself quite easily. Granted I don't know the process for your bike, but in general get that casing off and the basket will be right there. Get it out, and replace the plates. Can be done in an hour for a first timer.
Haha I’ve tried before, I did it right for the most part. However, there’s indicators on the friction plates. They designate the orientation of the plates. I had the plates rotated in the wrong orientation. I’m not that handy, I’ll just pay to have them replaced before spring.
Great video. I know it's old but did you ever use the launch control two step in the power commander? I just hooked it up to the clutch switch on one of my bikes and it makes starting line rpm much easier to manange.
I need to get it fixed, I got on it hard one time and it was misfiring. Think it’s the ignition coils, and I gotta get plastics for it. I miss riding it.
Start on a 300-400cc machine. Do yourself a favour. Don’t worry you will be ready for that 600 after about 1 year. Plus your insurance will be less expensive:)
First street bike or motorcycle at all? How big are you? Like, height and weight? Because as much as a bunch of sideline riders that probably speed more time watching videos than riding would like to say start on a 300 or 400, if you're a big guy,, that shit doesn't work really great, and plus is a waste of money because used 400s usually fucking suck and have shit resale value, so you'll have to save a bunch of extra money on top of the money you lost on the 400 when you're ready to move up. If you wanna start on a 6 then start on a 6. If you've ridden a dirt bike or other type of motorcycle, you'll be fine as long as you don't ride like a dumbass.
My son is 11 and learning to ride a street bike. The clutch is what his g-daddy just can't get him to understand. I've seen g-daddy do some craaazy things to clutches though. About 26 years ago my uncle looked at me and said "let's go see how bad your daddy messed this up". He took the screws out of the cover of the actual clutch and bits of metal started falling out. He slammed that cover on and yelled for someone to find him a box. I didn't know what it meant to grenade a clutch until then. Seeing someone left standing on the starting line when their bike runs out from under them.....
@@thisguyfromyoutubesaid1537 I'd much rather him learn now before the hormones kick in. He'd rather ride his dirt bikes any way. If you have a controlled setting, like that drag racing school in fla, what age is right? I've been riding since I was 2. He's got a championship rider downstairs around the corner. I was adamant that g-daddy be the one to teach my kid's to ride. My child was not dropped on I-75 and told to wing it. So what age do you recommend for controlled classes to obtain a sanctioned licensed within said body. They are already racing on the street......
@@thisguyfromyoutubesaid1537 he is not riding on the street. So, I'll ask again, what's the appropriate age for him to get on his Kz? He rides around the driveway. When g-daddy and his friends rent out a track, my son goes so he can learn about the pit crew side of racing. You have a blessed day.

I can agree with that lol. I’ve literally never drove a manual car. It’s also the fear of leaving super hard. I should’ve just cranked it to 4000 rpm and dumped the clutch.
please stop giving advise. you burnt out your clutch you don't know how to adjust your clutch or tighten your chain. why not learn some basic motorcycle skills before trying to be a hero.

Try launching on the 12, it does pretty decent from low rpm. I was able to get it to hook on street @ 7k rpm

How can you tell if your clutch is burnt up?
You gotta leave above 5k on the street on the track about 6500 to 8 your 60s should b around mid 1.40s
I’m gonna try that out. I’m gonna make a part 2 to this vid, and launch on my zx12.
5k? 65 to 8k? I launch my bikes at at least 8 if not 10 to 12k
Im just a lil confused... You say to get to friction zone and slide clutch yet then say ya burned clutches out by doing that so.... 🤔
Just don’t do it too slow. You don’t want to flip the bike , by dumping the clutch too fast. And you don’t want to burn your clutch by going too slow.
Do you have a dry clutch?
And how bout the throttle man? Full gas or just go half way?
If you don’t have launch control, hold the throttle at your desired rpm. If you have launch control you can just crank the throttle all the way back.
Gotcha 👍 that makes sense
