Love it! Can’t believe another Fretless Friday has rolled by. I’ve been enjoying them! Thank you! Laughed my butt off at Belina knocking the camera over and her ‘’indecency’’. They remind me so much of my chickens. …Creating havoc everywhere they go but hugably adorable.
I can't say I've ever spent my Saturday night in a flowerpot because of a chook, listenin to how beautiful a yellow fence is to banjo learnin more about England. Grrble Bkbkbk to lil ones. Thank you Bellina. My night has officially ended with poop 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow, the sound improved remarkably when you backed up against the wall. I think the sound from the back of the banjo reflected forward toward the mic. You handle the disturbances of your creatures so perfectly (in my eyes) That was a beautiful rendition of that tune.
A lively tune. Chickens can be so badly behaved! The old saying "practice makes perfect" holds true. Practice ensures a great performance and it is so important. I am 75 this year and I practice my washboard playing. I do believe that I am getting better. :)
I'm snickering so hard at Bellina knocking over the camera! My dog does something similar, when she thinks I've spent enough time on my laptop...she'll come over to the couch, snuggle up next to me, and then use her nose to PUSH the laptop off my lap.
“Did you poop? Did you both poop?” LMFAO!!🤣Those are the greatest words added to the internet today. The phone getting knocked down!! Classic chicken slapstick! That was the most entertaining episode ever! (You’re playing is steadily improving btw i upvote every video to encourage you to keep practicing. It’s paying off for you
Recent sub here, so I'm still in the getting-to-know-you phase, but everything I've seen so far has been hugely entertaining and heart-warming. Normally I don't even like the banjo, but I'm happy to make an exception in your case! I love that little grimace around 1:48ish when you hit a bum note! 😬 All musicians will recognise that moment - "Dammit! Ah well, just keep going, this tune ain't gonna play itself." You're so natural and spontaneous in these videos, I can just imagine sitting on the ground in your back yard with a few friends while you play tunes and herd chickens. 🦃🐓🤣 Whatever 'it' is in terms of entertainment, you have it in industrial quantities. I have a feeling that Fretless Friday is going to be one of the highlights of my week from now on. Tell Billina the world says "hi".
Lovely playing, despite any instrument difficulties. Also, it looks so nice out in your yard! We're still in the can't make up its mind stage of spring
I love fretless Fridays! I'm learning to play fretless banjo that I made from some plans in an old book I found. I absolutely love my banjo! I think your intonation is mostly dead-on. Not uncomfortable at all says this retired piano tuner. Thank you for all your inspiration 😘
I love "Fretless Friday's"... probably my favourite Banjo instrument coz it makes such an interesting and distinctive sound... and it's hard to play! The yellow fence (gate?) is a great backdrop! Billina and Toto are also great additions. It's nice to see a smile back, as well. Speaking of "Never Dies". John 5:24 ESV.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of banjo music, but I like the mood here, positive and relaxing. I like when you talk about something at the beginning or at the end of the video, your voice sounds very pleasant, so it would go well with the music. Ah, you’ve probably already been asked to sing a thousand times, forgive me that I’m talking about this for the thousand and first time.
I’m a new subscriber from Ontario, Canada.🇨🇦 I really like your channel! I never know what you might do next, but I know that whatever it is, it’s going to put a smile on my face! Thanks!
Transposed perfectly to the fretless, your skills are spot on.The chickens are wonderful,I think they are starting to get used to the idea of being " on screen" some just like to be remembered for, " watch me do this"
Ah . . . I love your tunes and your hens. They are pretty girls who clearly love your music. And really, what’s not to love? Friday, zero frets, outside in the sun with a yellow gate. Thank you for sharing with us! (It snowed where I am this week.).
Whatever the technical problems you felt, the song translates well from fretted to fretless banjo. Good recovery from the camera knock down, and being able to seamlessly continue with the song.
Bellina is NOT camera shy at all. She enjoys assaulting it, especially when it tastes like chicken feed. @2:50 Also, love the sun shining through your hat, and love love love Fretless Fridays.
I am from Monterey but married a Kentucky Wildcat from the Appalachian Mountains. I hold 3 earned doctorates + graduate studies from Harvard Law. As a young FBI agent I met a girl from the Appalachian Mountains, with natural charm much like yours. 52 years later she is still the love of my life. Today I am a Baptist missionary and have worked in 15 foreign countries with my singing wife by my side. Someday soon your gifts will make you famous…but “don’t ever lose that light in your eyes” a quote from Rod Stewart.
I've been playing this song recently a lot, what a treat to see it pop up here! Going to take some inspiration from all your variations, albeit on my fretted banjo. Good stuff
Good job of transitioning this song from fretted to fretless without a lot of practice. It's clearly coming more naturally to you now. It's also nice to have you and your mischievous chickens back front-and-center!
The chickens did well (sans knocking the camera over LOL). When we had our coop, we had a bunch of Barred Plymouth Rocks like Toto. They're great eggers. Is Billina an Orpington? I'm not good at recognizing the lighter-colored hens. Chickens aside... I love the sound of that banjo.
Sounds good, gal! Resist the urge to play with markers. Instead, practice in the dark, to remove any reliance on sight and build that muscle memory/ harmony with your ear alliance. I know that you don't look while playing, but you have the capability to look, so your fingers kinda know there's that visual crutch available to them, so they can act as unruly as Billina when the mood takes them. Hens and fingers are like that sometimes :)
Though I'm sure its difficult you're sounding pretty good. I definitely recommend marking out where the frets would be if you want to be perfectly on tune, but honestly you're not too far off already. Thanks for sharing!
Love the fretless. The yellow fence is very "you"! You're like a little ray of sunshine to so many out here in UA-cam Land! I was wondering if you have tried using a finger slide on that banjo or others? I would think a pinky slide would work great on it. But I guess having a fretless negates the need for a slide. I'll go back to my corner now.😑
You are figuring out when to slide, for spice, and when to play more as you would a banjo with frets. That is musicianship. I play a little slide guitar sometimes, sliding everything can get old quickly. Good job.
I think Bellina did a lovely job. She’s a natural.
You and Toto sporting matching plumage.
It is pleasant to have a daily dose of banjo along with a chicken comedy hour. LOL Thanks Phoebe for sharing your time with all of us.
Friday is now my favorite day of the week because of you!!!! =)))) silly Bellina... knockin us over!!!
You know there was a time long ago when I could sit cross-legged like that and not grimace in agony!
Same here, not after a hip and knee replacement! Stools only now😊
"are you okay?" not expecting that. than again, neither was I expecting to get knocked out by a chicken. Anyway I love fretless!
So awesome 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
I can't say I've ever spent my Saturday night in a flowerpot because of a chook, listenin to how beautiful a yellow fence is to banjo learnin more about England.
Grrble Bkbkbk to lil ones. Thank you Bellina. My night has officially ended with poop 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂 Enjoying your fretless Fridays with the chickens 🐔 🐔 you handled it like a true professional 👏 🎉
Well Done.
Wow, the sound improved remarkably when you backed up against the wall. I think the sound from the back of the banjo reflected forward toward the mic.
You handle the disturbances of your creatures so perfectly (in my eyes)
That was a beautiful rendition of that tune.
Аутентичный вид. Почти. Отличный аутентичный звук! Все прекрасно. Гармония.
I love the sound of the fretless banjo. And the chickens make it extra fun to watch.
Wonderful!

I'm sooooooooooooo here for fretless fridays
My soul is happy. Thanks again Phoebe!
You make Friday's wonderful. Thanks
I like the fretless banjo but I Love the hen. They are simply gorgeous. ❤
I'm snickering so hard at Bellina knocking over the camera! My dog does something similar, when she thinks I've spent enough time on my laptop...she'll come over to the couch, snuggle up next to me, and then use her nose to PUSH the laptop off my lap.
Thank you Phoebe!🙏💜🤗

❤ A Vision of Lovelyness
😂 Best fretless Friday yet!! Clucking marvellous
The week is rolling to a close here in the UK, and this is a wonderful soundtrack :)
haha just as I type that, Billina chooses chaos!
Interestingly, your chickens like to “ham” it up for the camera, but I love the spontaneity of it all. Thank you for making my Friday more enjoyable!🤗
Chickens do seem to have personality
You are 100% genuine. Keep doing what you are doing. I love your videos!
Lovely playing, despite any instrument difficulties. Also, it looks so nice out in your yard! We're still in the can't make up its mind stage of spring
Praise be Phebes, lol at Belina throwing us around 😂 happy days indeed hun, thank you
Gracias por alegrarme el sábado, tus gallinas son lo más! 🤣 me encanta lo que haces, saludos! 🇦🇷

The First time I've been here on a Fretless Friday! And such a great song!
Ms Saunders,
You pick some lovely banjo, keeps my old heart happy.
You’re closing in fast on 20k subscribers. Fantastic! Great entertainment.

live music. gotta love it. keep playing. I love the animal acts! LOL
"Did you poop?! Did you both poop?!" is a great exit line
Dr. Phoebe, you are coming along with your fretless! Keep it up! Billina, please don't knock us off the cup again! ❤❤❤❤❤
Belina and Toto, you and the Fretless Banjo! Good times!
Yay It's Friday!!!
I like how you move around to different spots, better resonance eh?
Fretless Fridays are so much fun. Acoustic music and funny animal antics are a winning combo!
Miles of smiles from playful birds and beautiful playing
You're amazing 😍 and funny, thank you 🌹❤️
This is one of my favorite songs. Love the tony rice version. Yours isn’t bad either
HOLY COW ! I love this ! Love the sound and I love this old and dear hymnal. Wado (thank you) !
Both of you are truly adorable❤️❤️
I just subbed from another video of yours. You and the chickens rock!
Good song, great entertainment. Just what the Doctor ordered!

Thanks! Here’s some shuckles to put towards a chicken-proof tripod, haha!
Hauntingly beautiful
The yellow gate, does it lead to the Yellow Brick Road?
Happy fretless Friday Bella and Toto!
❤❤❤ Love it! Hello from Sweden!
I’m a new subscriber from Ontario, Canada.🇨🇦 I really like your channel! I never know what you might do next, but I know that whatever it is, it’s going to put a smile on my face! Thanks!
Nicely done! I only know that one because of the band, The Hillbilly Thomists, they are right up your alley
Get yourself a decent little tripod young lady... I definitely like your vibe about being connected to the earth, kickin' it with the hens ❤
Thank you! 🙏🏾🇬🇧
As a long time fan of old time music I really enjoy these videos and look forward to seeing your progression and (possible?) career in music.
Lovely! Wonderful! Thank you so much for inviting us into your back yard to meet Belina and Toto.
Transposed perfectly to the fretless, your skills are spot on.The chickens are wonderful,I think they are starting to get used to the idea of being " on screen" some just like to be remembered for, " watch me do this"
What better way to kick off the weekend than with frailing and pecking. Love both!
Ah . . . I love your tunes and your hens. They are pretty girls who clearly love your music. And really, what’s not to love? Friday, zero frets, outside in the sun with a yellow gate. Thank you for sharing with us! (It snowed where I am this week.).
Wish I had a neighbour who played music like you do. I'd enjoy that! :)
Whatever the technical problems you felt, the song translates well from fretted to fretless banjo. Good recovery from the camera knock down, and being able to seamlessly continue with the song.
Looking good kid...what's up?....chicken butt!!! Keep up the good work...much love to you and your family. ❤😎✌
I have to admit I really look forward to fretless Fridays. Thank you so much!!!
You are absolutely phenomenal.
Hello from Russia! Приятно смотреть и слушать! И немного забавно) Желаю тебе успехов!
Super inspiring! These vids inspired me to try some clawhammer guitar 😊 (I don't have a 5 string banjo).
Bellina is NOT camera shy at all. She enjoys assaulting it, especially when it tastes like chicken feed. @2:50
Also, love the sun shining through your hat, and love love love Fretless Fridays.
Song sounds great on the fretless
Brilliant 😂
I love these videos
Gallina is a clever name for a hen.
I want chickens and I want a fretless banjo
Ya nailed it!! Keep up the good work
Lovely!
Awesome playing as usual, I always look forward to Fretless Friday!
Great job really in joy your vids
Brilliant

Yes indeed, she is an Orpington!
I love the fretless banjo to be honest.
Which is your favorite banjo out of all the ones you own?
Nice! One of my favorite songs! Thanks Phoebe! Everyone be safe and have a good weekend!
Ur videos are great!
Fretless banjo with the band will be great, I am curious. Violin and voice were doing crazy stuff already!
where are you? what a pleasant sound ! Thank You !!!

Lovely, even with the pesky chickens. Ever think about singing along?
2:58 - Chicken chaos. I am all too familiar. Birds bring their own kind of drama.
Though I'm sure its difficult you're sounding pretty good. I definitely recommend marking out where the frets would be if you want to be perfectly on tune, but honestly you're not too far off already. Thanks for sharing!
I like the fluffy chickens

Seek help. Music is addictive and you are very good at it. Ya can’t slide into every note.
From a trombone player.
You are figuring out when to slide, for spice, and when to play more as you would a banjo with frets. That is musicianship. I play a little slide guitar sometimes, sliding everything can get old quickly. Good job.
