- This video is for anyone who wants to get started on the Moog Subharmonicon as quickly as possible. This video will give you need to make polyrhythms using the subharmonics in under 10 minutes.
Ive also added some hints and tips to keep your workflow tight, meaning you will be able to patch the Dfam, mother 32 and Grandmother to your polyrhythm sooner!
BTW: this is what worked for me, I'm sure there are many other ways to get started, but this is the best IMHO.
What a great tutorial. Really appreciate the wisdom you share here. Thank you
You are so welcome!
This video, for the first time, gave me the confidence that I might be able to wield my Subharmonicon one day. Thank you.
Same here!
This one is the most helpful tutorial on Subharmonicon that I've come across up until now.
Best subharmonicon video I’ve seen. Just ordered one yesterday
Probably the best tutorial I've ever watched of the Subharmonicon mate, thanks!!!
This is a very good introduction for people without a background in music theory!
Thanks Wrenchposting, I found exactly that problem when I got it, I only have a passing music theory knowledge (just a bit more than a bloke off the street) but that shouldn't stop anyone finding happy accidents on this thing!
I love my Sub. ❤
Excellent video, thanks. More vids like this on all the Moog Sound System units please. My SS plus an extra M-32 has just been delivered so I'll be using your content a great deal. Happy I subscribed, keep up the great work.
Your a Genius...I put it in my rack but never looked at it the way you just did. You put a whole new dimensional spin on the synth. That’s so awesome! Love your videos.
Damn amazing quick guide! Thank you!
well, that was the best description into starting on the Subharmonicon! thanks a LOT ! 🙂
Thank you So much Der!
This is helpful man! Even as someone who’s had this synth like a month, I still am learning how to use it!
Thanks so much I really appreciate that feedback!!
Superb! Definitely start simple! It’s a very complex machine!
Exactly, Im glad you like it mate!
well done , nice vid. i was so superhappy with that sound that i bought a second one , perfect to built more complex melodic lines.
Brilliant demo. Well done.
Brilliant. I pick up my SH and DFAM tomorrow (adding to the M 32 I already have) and this will be a valuable resource for my first steps. Cheers.
I’m really happy to hear that fella!!
Hi, oh, this is interesting music. it looks like a cool sound game and construction game. I want to buy it, it is really very beautiful

Thanks, anytime!
Great video(:
That’s a great video
Cheers Any!
Very, hard to hear.
Do you think you could shout into the mic?
Has Moog updated the firmware to make the sequencer longer than 4 steps? I thought that was going to be a thing. That's been keeping me from picking one up.. I have an Oberheim TwoVoice with 8 step sequencer and, regarding polyrhythms, being able to do 5 or 7 steps that loop around in an off-kilter pattern is where the magic happens. 4 Steps won't cut it. Thanks for the clear cut video regardless.
The Sub is just weird, you just gotta spend some time playing to really enjoy it. It’s not a beginners synth at all. I got mine on first release, preorder months before. Fine synth, but it’s a Moog too!
That is sooo true!!
Great video but what happens when you turn it off and back on, does it keep everything as is or does it reset ?
@@robinkonieczny817 kind of, but if I have something I like I won’t risk it!
@@Cutflower so what do you do ?
@@robinkonieczny817 leave it on until recorded mate
@@Cutflower thats what I thought you might say
Great video. At 8:23 you add the second rhythm generator to sequencer 2. When I do this it changes the rhythm of sequencer 1 aswell! Do you know why?
How’d you sync it to your maschine? & does the subharmonicon and DFAM go to individual channels of an interface or mixer?
The 4-step thing is a bummer. Starts becoming repetitive too fast. Great tutorial but I would have to drive it with an external sequencer via CV. Moog should make a SubH "Pro" or "v2" with 8 steps. Your content was good tho!
Couldn’t agree more!
