The Army will take care for them, have a roof over your head, dress you in clean clothes, put food in your belly, work you out and keeping in shape. People like this give me hope for human kind, what a awesome, compassionate and hardworking Dr. . When he said “harm reduction doesn’t increase drug use, it saves lives” I was in complete agreement! I worked at an adult IOP for about 6 years and we had so many resources for our clients but the one thing there was never even close to enough of was housing. And it was so frustrating to see these people in treatment , putting in the work, staying clean and not being able to have a roof over their heads.. affordable housing and free transitional housing needs to be a reality...now!
Also everyone should have narcan, hopefully you don’t need it but if you do you can save a life. 💜

Okay, get ready to pay higher prices then. Some of the money going overseas, goes to Egypt to build their military which comes back in the form of defense contracts, but the vast majority of the money to Egypt goes to give us access to the Suez canal for global trade. So if you want to cut that funding off, then be content with paying higher prices as goods would need to go around the horn of Africa.

With your help, we can end homelessness. Housing IS the key. Housing First, Harm Reduction, case management, decriminalizing homelessness and addiction... I coordinate services for seniors and disabled residents in low-income, subsidized housing in Western WA where several residents have entered housing from homelessness for various reasons. Housing and the stability it brings is life changing and provides a foundation to begin to address other needs. I was unable to wake up for over 17 hours straight and they won't admit this is not healthy. They just say "Oh you were tired huh?". All psychiatrists need to be locked up. You don;t ninja someone some suicide pills.

I have to do more research, but I believe helping these people isn’t just the right thing to do socially, but maybe also economically. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, it might be more work upfront but I think it’s worth it

😮 You have to do"more research" to know whether shelter for our unhoused brothers and sister's is "THE RIGHT THING TO DO"?
Honestly, I'm happy you're taking the time to do research.
But this attitude (which isn't unique to you) is EVERYTHING THAT'S WRONG WITH HUMANITY!😡
A decent human being shouldn't have to "research" whether love, compassion, support can be extended!
One shouldn't have to "research" whether dignity is warranted for the least of us in the #RichestNation in the Western world. For the most marginalized & disenfranchised of our communities, we CAN & SHOULD DO 💯💯 BETTER 💞✔✔
One DOES NOT need to "do research" whether or not to be a good decent human.
      🙏😢😢😢😢

That’s a great point, I should clarify that I need to do research to help convince others (particularly policy makers and to figure out the “best” way to help), I’m already right with you that this isn’t ok and that we could, should, and must do much better! Thank you so much! And Wish you all the best!

Dr. King stole my heart! My dad was a Dr. with Healthcare for The Homeless, in Boston for many years. He is a dedicated psychiatrist. There is more than 15% of homeless people who need a pyschopharmacologist. Society treats people with mental illness as though they do it on purpose. I am glad that there are Street Teams. I just took a mentally impaired woman off of the streets and into my home. The safety and comfort of living indoors has enabled her to work VERY seriously with a Case Worker. She has 4 months away from her abuser, and she might just get away from him for good, as long as she gets services. I am very patient with her. She has been drinking heavily since she was 12 and she is 31 now. Her brain is pickled. I understand that going Cold Turkey might kill her. She is willing to try! People like Coley help to keep society on track. Throwing people away is NOT a solution. So many Christians refuse to obey Jesus. I don't even believe, and I contribute MUCH more than most Religious People.
